Weekly Reading Update | 20th July

Read This Week
A Curious Kind Of Magic: Although the plot is a little messy in places, this had such great found family vibes that I didn't even care. 4/5
All The Stars And Teeth: Didn't quite hold up to a re-read, I found the main character irritating. 4/5
Make A Home Of Me: Stay for the opening dinner party and Emily, skip the rest. 3/5

Weekly Reading Update | 6th July

Read This Week
Light From Uncommon Stars: This story could not decide whether Katrina was a hot shit violinist or just about passable with good vibes. Cosy story, but the sudden descriptions of sexual abuse were jarring. 3/5
French Windows: A strangely pointless crime novel with all the misogynistic vibes of old film noir movies, so it took me out a moment when the narrator mentioned Instagram. 1/5
Goose of Hermogenes: That incest foreplay orgy with her uncle whipping her sure was something huh? 1/5
City of All Seasons: At no point did anyone think to send a note over to the other city like, hey, I got half of Grandma over here, don't suppose you've got the other half? 1/5

Weekly Reading Update | 29th June

Read This Week
The Glutton: Free my boy he did nothing wrong (several found dead) 5/5
Chorus: Spanning nearly 60 years of a large family's life, this managed to really capture the dynamics of the Shaw family, as they struggled with grief, loss and the aftermath of war. My only issue was that I felt this would have been strong if this was told in a linear timeline. 3/5

Weekly Reading Update | 22nd June

Read This Week
On the Calculation of Volume I - The Waterstones bookseller told me he wasn't sure about this book because he doesn't know just how many volumes it's going to have, but he made sure to tell me after I paid, so I have to respect his game. 5/5
Bury Our Bones In The Midnight Soil - Filled the IWTV S3 void, but I spent the last chapters wishing I was hanging out with Ezra at the coffee shop. If this wasn't so obviously set in the same world as Addie LaRue, I think I would have rated it lower, as this is almost all vibes and very little plot. I struggled to care about any of the characters.
