how did you get started quilting? i love ur stuff and i want to give quilting a go but i’m a little intimidated
I started by looking up blogs and tutorials on google-but what really got me going was attending events at my local quilting shop. Never underestimate the value of your local crafting community-most are more than happy to introduce you to the craft they love!

"Trans Rights Orange cat" Still needs binding
With this complete I can truly say I am back in the saddle!
Being a member of the trans community myself it brings me joy to know tags like this can exist around town in all their silly glory.

An Unfortunate Update
With a heavy heart I say it will be a few weeks before I will be able to work on my quilts.
I was involved in an accident at work and have badly burned the fingers on my right hand. If the doctor's note is anything to go by it will be at least two weeks until I am able to try using it again.
I am so sorry, and I promise I will do my best to be back at it as soon as I can. Thank you all for the wonderful support you've shown my project-this is the closest I've felt to being a real artist in a very long time, and the thought of being away from it for so long is a very particular ache in my heart.

hi! i find your work super inspiring and would like to do a wall hanging based on a local tag, the artist of which was very influential in my area and has passed away, to donate to the local homeless shelter (his tags guided homeless folks to safe places for them) - you can look up "lost cat ithaca" if you'd like to see more about it. if i do this, is there a way you'd like to be credited?
This is such a kind and heartwarming tribute to some who from the sounds of it, did a whole lot of good in his life. Thank you for sharing his story with me :)
If you have any questions about the process I use please feel free to reach out to me any time, I am truly excited to see you bring this artwork to life and want to help if at all possible.
You don't need to credit me-just send me a picture when its done so I can see!!

"Blue Dreamer" Still needs binding
I usually try to pull my inspiration from the tags I photograph but my own feelings crept their way into this one.
I still dream about being an artist someday. Its hard to be a dreamer sometimes.
Dream on all, dream on.

"The Best Bean" Still needs binding
This one is very near and dear to my heart. Way back in 2019 my partner adopted a cat (from my roommates at the time) named Mella. As you do, I gave her the silly nickname of "The Vamella Bean". After a few months of kitty name telephone her nickname just became Bean. When this tag started cropping up around town we would joke that that she would sneak out the house and do this while we were gone.
Unfortunately we lost Miss Mella to illness in 2020.
It use to make me sad to see this tag around but now I just smile and remember Miss Mella- truly the best Bean.

Under painting my next project "The Dreamer" using light fusible webbing. I would usually hand sew this down with a blanket stitch to prevent fraying, but as I will be using appliqué for the line work I am going to skip this step. I use to hate hand sewing, but I've learned to slow down and enjoy the process.

"Love Meter" Still needs binding
I feel now is a good time to post this one as I have certainly felt the love form the Tumblr community! Thank you so very much for your support. I have picked up and then put aside this project so many times over the years-finding it hard to keep the motivation. Having folks to share this with has filled my heart (and my drive) like never before <3

Holy shit your art is so amazing I'm losing my mind! The concept is so cool and your execution is so clean and crisp and gorgeous. The colours, the quilting, the super precise applique (is it applique? I'm not a quilter, yet...) I would love to know more about your process if you'd like to share
Sincerely, knittyboi (the person who just chain-reblogged every single one of your posts)
Oh my goodness! This made me smile ear to ear! Thank you for your kind words and support :)!!!!
You are correct! The technique I use primarily in my quilts is appliqué. I like to think of my designs in 3 dimensions-Raw edge appliqué for the middle ground, reverse appliqué for the background, and (my favorite) turned edge Appliqué for the fore ground.
I hope to add some tutorials to this blog to help those who are interested in art quilting!

"Have you seen this Cat?" Finished Quilt
This is the very first quilt I did for this project-Seeing this little guy every day brought me so much joy I just had to find a way to keep him-and here we are! The folks at the cat cafe (who's mail box this is tagged on) must have shared my sentiment because it is still there today!

"Hot Soup" Finished Quilt
With great sadness I find I cannot find the original photo of this tag. I finished this one way back in 2021-before I ever thought I'd make a project of it.
This tag is long gone from its original spot, but will always have a place in my heart.

"Umbrella Box" Still needs binding
This tag was all over a few years ago-but is much less common now, I believe the artist may have left the area. Where ever they are I hope they always have an umbrella on rainy days.
