I started quilting in March 2025 and made this blog in June 2025 because I wanted a place to show off my work and occasionally reblog some inspiration!

I'm keeping an eye out for heat stroke in my area and I can't figure out what a full body flush would look like on dark skin since all the pictures are just fake training pictures. Anyone have video/pics of a heat stroke flush on black skin?

Sometimes I feel old and out of touch because I don't know anything about the hot new music but then I remember even when I was a teenager I did not know the hot new music because I was an uncool little nerd and my family didn't listen to the radio. So my out of touchness is consistent and not age related.

My first flying geese units (set in a sawtooth star). No points lost so far but those edges are looking a little tight. My scant quarter inches are a little too scant - the block is supposed to be 6.5” and is closer to 6.75”. It might be time to get a real 1/4 inch presser foot. My current one was about $3 and it shows.

A fun weekend project, this 14”x36” table runner/wall hanging is destined for a friend who enjoys seasonal decor.
The leaf pattern is a scaled down adaptation from The Creative Pattern Book by Judy Martin. I considered doing the construction with more half square triangles and just making each one a nine patch, but I wanted to give the trapezoids a go. I like how they lend a subtle touch of asymmetry to the coloring.
I have seven leftover blocks I haven’t decided what to do with yet but only 2”x8” of leftover background - a half yard cut things a bit close for comfort! If anyone who sees this has ideas, feel free to leave a comment or send a message.
Made June 2025

Today I made a tote bag for the birthday of a friend that loves rats!
The front is a 12”x12” foundation paper pieced rat quilt block made using a pattern from Easy Pieced Patterns on Etsy. It took a few hours and those teeth were so tiny but it was an easy pattern to follow overall. I flat-felled the sides of the bag and French felled the bottom so that it’s all nice and finished on the inside. Very happy with how it came out, now it’s time to clean up!

Since that first picture I have acquired a leather thimble… game changer! I got the Clover brand one and it is supremely comfortable and useful for both pushing the needle and gripping the thread.

I started watching The Homely House on YouTube and was inspired to start my own slow stitching project. Meet the beginning of my English Paper Piece Plus Quilt.
My goal is to complete a baby quilt by my guild’s 2026 quilt show. I’ve made quite a bit of progress this month but I’m in no rush and am focused on enjoying the process.

Last in my batch of spam posting everything to catch up from the time I started quilting to the time I made this blog.
Baby quilts for my Quilters Guild! The one on the left is inspired from the free Gingham Quilt Pattern by Nikki at Pin Cut Sew, the one on the right is inspired by a block one of my guild members used in a table runner with my own sizing and layout. I’m very pleased with the scrappy border on that one.

This quilt had so many iterations before I decided on the final layout.
This one is the Ribbons pattern from Jordan Fabric with some creative liberties taken on the edges and borders. I also free motion quilted the whole thing which took quite awhile but was worth the effort!

I got ambitious and decided to try free motion quilting!
Top left is a lap quilt made from some leftovers quilted in a classic meander pattern.
Top right is a collection of four quilting patterns I feel good about doing now.
Bottom quilt was pieced by members of my quilting guild and I volunteered to do the quilting. By the end I was very tired of chalking on the Baptist Fans (and let’s not even talk about the ordeal of getting the chalk out) but I’m happy with the result!
Top left: 36”x36,” top right: 9”x9,” bottom quilt: 61”x71,” All made in May 2025

I joined a quilting guild and made some Americana lap quilts to donate.
The top quilt is based on a picture I saw online and adapted for my own size and layout. I’m pleased with the shape, but if I did it again I’d do a different layout.
The bottom quilt is the lone star wall hanging pattern from Jordan Fabrics with my own little pizzaz for the border.

Baby quilt for a friend! I made the design myself. Midway through I decided that the navy middle mountains were not working and ripped and replaced them. It was an easier process than I expected. I did, however, quilt all in one direction and turned it into more of a parallelogram than a rectangle… that’s ok, I still love it!

First big quilt! The pattern online was called field of diamonds but I’m calling this one “2019-2025: six years of scraps”
I did a lot of other sewing and hobbies before this quilt that got me all of the scraps, but this is what really made me realize I loved quilting.
