I just finished Kristallnacht and La Luna y el océano by NarrativeOwl, which I must admit were among the best Rivamika works I’ve ever read. The sole reason I missed this author even though having reloaded ao3’s Rivamika tag page almost every day for YEARS until now was that I never considered the chance I could find such beautiful stories using Google Translate (I’m a Viet and yes, I had to use auto-translate so that I could read them in English). La Luna y el océano (which translates into The moon and the ocean) was definitely one of the most beautiful RM pieces I’ve seen for quite some time, along with For You by hrarby. Inaccuracies are expected hindrance - I even learned how to “correct” the translations and pronouns in my mind while reading - a skill developed after some Spanish-to-English fanfics. Such a beautifully written plot it got to me albeit not being in a language I could understand directly, like FINALLY Aaron Yogurt was called out for his sorry abusive ass 💀 I’m pretty much ranting by now but I just gotta say I adore nicely made fanfics so so much, likely to an extent I myself can’t decipher, especially when they come from the shipdom I treasure the most. I’ll dig up every RM fic that’s non-English to binge read now to ensure I don’t miss anything else muahahaha

1. Sanrio confirmed that Badtz-Maru and Kuromi are canonically together

2. As we all know, Badtz-Maru is Levi's character while Kuromi is Mikasa’s

3. And guess what, Badtz-Maru and Kuromi have a 12-year age gap! (Badtz-Maru: 1993, Kuromi: 2005)

Just returned from The Eras Tour. Welp, ofc I didn’t get any of my headcanon-RM surprise songs as I hoped 😂 But I got Clean and I think somehow it was one of the songs that remind me of Mikasa getting out of the toxic, abusive and fucked up relationship with Eren the most (I recorded the video in 4K so it’s too large to be uploaded here woah…) Such a healing song each time I listened to it, my head went “good for you Mikasa, I love that for you” 😂😂

Today marked the 8th year I and my high school deskmate (who I turned into an A/M & K-Pop fan lol) befriended, so we decided to grab sum AoT t-shirts together XD Levi is our mutual bias and eventually I got the Levi’s “Sasageyo” while her was the Mikasa’s “If you don’t fight we can’t win” one. We even have matching Mino’s Ohnim x StART Art Fair giraffe tote bags yayyyy

Idk maybe the currency exchange rate has reduced greatly since UNIQLO arrived to Vietnam?!? I remember UT shirts being much more expensive when I bought them in Japan but now ¥1650 + fees and 400k VND are pretty much the same 😂

Random thoughts on a fic.

Today I read the Letters of Tomorrow series by AkaneRei just again, and god it gives me the same heartache like the very first read. Maybe because Jeankasa is the endgame here that Rivamika's story hurts so bad. Probably one of the most tragic RM writing ever.

(Fyi, it wasn't finished yet so the Jeankasa endgame still isn't there for now, just confirmed by the author. And although I'm not a multi-shipper, I'm pretty chilled with any other pairings in RM fics except EM heh)

I especially LOVE how the author made Levi the helpless man obsessed with the thought that his house was haunted by Mikasa.

Have y'all read Richard Siken's Crush? There was a poem named Boot Theory that went like this:

"A man takes his sadness down to the river and throws it in the river but then he's still left with the river.

A man takes his sadness and throws it away but then he's still left with his hands."

Yes, I think it pretty much summed up Levi's despair and yearning for his lost love there.

It literally breaks my heart here. How he knew he shouldn't keep her ghost next to him, all the while fearing the precious memories of her will slip through his hands like sand. Why I love seeing Levi hopeless and tortured - I don't know, so - sorry.

I think I can pretty much picture Levi burning down his own house, watching it collapsed while he can't help but admit that the cruel woman named Mikasa has completely ruined him, left him a mess of a man. Now, have you guys watched Decision to Leave (undeniably this year's best film and also to be one of the greatest in history), dir. Park Chanwook? It's about a detective who fell for a mysterious widow after she became the prime suspect in his latest murder investigation. Did she really murder her husband? Yes. But he found out, still he set her free and told her to destroy the sole evidence, because obviously - he loved her. When they parted ways, he said:

"I'm completely shattered".

You know what, to break Humanity's Strongest Soldier is to break a Wall. God, who could even leave Mr. Ackerman a man broken beyond repair if not our little Ms. Ackerman?

That said, this was one of my favorite RM piece even though it killed me inside out. But what would it be of RM if not tragedies? Maybe I just can't stand suffering from this pain all alone lol.

A dreadful night—Rivamika Month

Two months ago, Mikasa messed up. Although Levi reckons it was him who messed it up—drunk and sad because the series was coming to an end, they spilt secrets and confessions they shouldn't have. Now, while finishing the promotions for the series, they've been paired to do an interview together. Will they come over their discomfort and keep their cool, or will they drown in the memories of a dreadful night?

Ah, well, here we go! This was my entry for the Rivamika Month, and unknowingly, it ended up getting all of the themes inside. 11 days, 16k words and 2 hours and a half editing, it is done.

I am so incredibly anxious because this ship has always had pure gems in it, and everyone is so talented, and I don't think I've given them justice. But fanfiction it's all about exploring, and the actor alternative universe allowed me to put some personality onto them that are not typically from theirs—I promise that, when I write in canonverse, I will stay truer to their quirks.

I conceived it to be read in one-go, but since I guess that it can be long for some people, I split it into three chapters just for the sake of it!
