Like, just the fact that he has automail (a process so painful and difficult most people don't bother) and seemingly as had them for... longer than makes sense? And they can't figure out when he reasonably could have gotten it? Or why he'd bother instead of a normal prosthetic?

Or his strange connection to high ranking military commanders? Both he and uncle Al have frequent contact with the royals of Xing, which is seperated from Amestris by a huge desert - when, how and why would they have met?

Or just any vague comments when traveling "oh, I remember that town, last time I was there the mine shaft exploded though, that wasn't great" "it's so much nicer here without the cult" or whatever
