Quirk Box X @thewhitebox.in & @rumiphotography.in in Banaras

For an unconventional bride and grooms’ pre-wedding photoshoot, unconventional outfits were imperative. Right from the location of the shoot to every single detail in the outfits along with the photographs, this shoot radiated quirkiness and fun.

The team @thewhitebox.in and @rumiphotography.in loved how Quirk Box incorporated art in its outfits. They mentioned how they always wanted to use the outfits or elements of it as a part of their pre-wedding shoots. When the location was chosen to be Banaras, which happens to be an offbeat place, with its spell bounding colourful streets, they knew Quirk Box outfits would perfectly compliment this quirky setting.

The bride looked so elegant, yet oozed quirk in the Sultanat saree. To match this ardor, the groom draped the Chanderi blend Floral safa and might we say, looked absolutely quirky.

Both the photographers and the couple had only one expectation from this shoot; to have fun. And in the end what was achieved with the Quirk Box outfits, the energy and enthusiasm of the photographers and the couple was, exactly that.

Safas and sarees primitively have always been a traditional item of an outfit and clothing respectively. However, Quirk Box aimed to keep the aesthetics similar but give the print and feel a modern twist (Of course a quirky one!). The saree adorns intricate art inspired by the Mughals and is ideal for the woman who knows how to wield her sword, however at the same time can mix her dry martini. The safa is a celebration of colours and beautiful flowers that gives an edge to the modern day groom who wants to make a statement and heads-turn.

The safa and the saree in amalgamation with the stunning photography and lovely couple gave this pre-wedding shoot the exact quirk it needed. And like Quirk Box already mentioned, The Ultimate Sultanat + The Floral Safa = Quirk for the win.

Quirk Box X Cuero Brogues

Originality; though a very simple to understand term, in reality is harder to implement. However, the whole ideal that Quirk Box has been based on is its true and original art.

Art and design are very closely related. Hence, on account of Quirk Box’s 7th anniversary, celebrations with a unique synergy to style, fashion and design were in order. The goal was to create a distinctive product that was fun, and yet premium. With that intent, the amalgamation of Quirk Box and Cuero was devised to laud original art and unique craftsmanship.

The mammoth victory of love (#lovewins) has made love the new quirk. ‘Quirk Love’ is an ode to the acceptance of being different and still being no different.

One has to be transformable in order to be quirky. Rejig the status quo or the accepted norm, be defiant in the face of mediocrity. Break a leg. Break the glass ceiling. Do something out of the ordinary!

I love to draw inspiration from everything and this time a Salon chair was the catalyst. I was browsing through a fashion magazine as my tresses were being foiled in hydrogen peroxide and my eyes popped out when I saw an army of minions on a jacket. I immediately grabbed my cell phone, took a snapshot and zoomed into the picture. Wow!! Who could have thought of something so radical? I was fascinated by the off beat art work prints. That was the first time I learned about  ‘QUIRK BOX’

The next thing I know is that I am collaborating with Quirk Box. I was all fired up and rearing to go! Teaming up with these guys meant being unconventional, so you pretty much know what this story is going to be about? Woohoo!!

‘Androgynous is the unapologetic Quirk!’

As much as I love to wear a tapered crisp white shirt, I wholly had fun dressing in this swanky long Vintage Typewriter Shirt. This street style shirt is empowering and definitely a conversation starter.  I chose for an edgy yet effortless androgynous look. Androgynous is one of my favorite styles. I teamed this dapper button down shirt with my distressed boyfriend jeans and slipped into my black faux suede peep toe pumps. I accessorized the outfit with a black belt and a rhinestone statement neckpiece. I was off for a lunch meeting by the pool.

It’s fun and it’s flirty in the most light hearted way. White wedges and a white sound bag and there! That’s my look for an afternoon with my girls!

So here is the second post to the Quirk Box edition. I have grown to love this label for many reasons like the quality of clothes it creates to its individuality and I am eagerly looking forward to see what’s next for quirk box this coming season.

In todays post I am featuring this cute little soldier top detailed with colour blocked pannels. I decided to mix prints by wearing this stripped skater skirt to go with this super fun top. To add another fun element to the look I decided to carry a turquoise box clutch. This top is so light and flowy, you really have to touch it to see how summer perfect it is.

Quirk Box is fun. Their art work from Jayesh and designs by Rixi are essential to human life. If essential isn't strong enough a word. What point is a shoot with Quirk Box if there isn't a fun element thrown in.

I remember asking Rixi to make more stuff for men because what they put out there is so damn amazing. And surely enough (I would like to think my request had a big role to play in it) the Quirk Box Gold collection had some pretty interesting prints. The ones that caught my attention were the Airplanes. In 2 print options (Colored and Outlined) these things caught my fancy quicker than Gabriella Demetriades did! Ok, maybe I am exaggerating a wee lil bit. Then there were these post card shorts. I should call this post a Throwback. I went to town (quite literally) with these outfits. These outfits are extremely light and comfortable. I shot in the peak of a summer day and they felt good on my skin. It is almost like this collection was made for me. So retro. So chic. So damn Quirky! I teamed the outfits with Adidas Originals because I would have it no other way! Quirk Box Bridal Design Not every day are legends born. When Quirk Box was set-up as a small start up aspiring to create a wide-spread audience for an Art Based Fashion label, many ridiculed us. Perhaps we second guessed ourselves too. Over six years though, we persevered, trying as far possible to not stray from our concept, from our purpose of why we started out. Through thick and thin, Quirk Box pursued to find it’s space.

And then you wake up to a Twitter feed of Amitabh Bachchan with images he posted of himself and his family, adorning Quirk Box fetas. This is wonderful, most certainly. But the great joy this brings to my team, my pillars of strength, the sense of pride they take in belonging to Quirk Box, being a part of the small family of Quirkers, makes this all the more cherish-able.  Not every day does a legend dress up in your creation, but today, one did.

Ultimate Sultanat ft. Gloss and Grunge I call this look [ THE PARADOX ] . The Sultanat jacket immediately brings to my memories from history classes in school. History being my most favourite , I used to let myself get engulfed in the fantasies of the kings and their kingdoms . This jacket took me back to those stories of the Mughal reign and I decided that I had to do something out of the ordinary to style it.I let the creative juices flow and chose to wear it with a saree. For me, it depicts the two sides of a woman, much like those strong women from my history textbooks. I call this look the paradox because I wore the saree in a rather unconventional way, twisting the 'Palloo' to form a belt, paired with jeans and a crop top and of course the indo-western jacket from Quirk Box. I believe that a woman houses so many personalities and this was my way of showing the two opposite sides through my styling. The make up was also on the same lines with a little bit of an artsy lip scribble on one side and strong eyes.There are so many ways this jacket could be styled but for me, it struck a nostalgic chord because of its versatility . The print is beautiful and would complement light and bright colours alike. Wear this on a day you're feeling extra artsy and you can be sure to turn some heads. Some Gloss, some Grunge! ft. Urvi Mehta / Gloss and Grunge A summer ready look is what I had in mind with this dress. The prints are so quirky and there's everything on it that's good for the soul right from candy and cupcakes to pizza and cherries. Such things always bring out the forgotten child inside me and so I decided to keep it playful and simple. I paired it with a waist cinching belt and white sneakers. Pulled up socks being a big trend this season , I incorporated that as well and just like that I had a look ready to take me through a hot summer day where I don't want to be bothered by my clothes. This dress can be paired in so many other ways too..just throw on a denim jacket or even wear it as a tunic, it's all left upto each ones comfort and creativity. A new Summer photo story with Nefertari Joshi @thestyleye  The shade of yellow on the top makes everyones skin glow and definitely is a must have on ones spring wardrobe this season. This look can literally take you from day to night and you’ll still be the best dressed one out there. Since the top and the pants were both flared I decided to add a chunky belt to clinch my waist and make the look all the more formal and classy.
