Hello, this is going to be my longest post ever, so if you don't like reading, just put a like lol Over the past week, I watched 6 adaptations of lsoh. here's my verdict:
1.
youtube
Surprisingly this is my favourite production, I literally watched it twice. I just loved everything about it. I'm not a master of writing reviews, but here I don't think I need to try too hard to convey how great it looks. The sets, the costumes, the songs, everything played in a new way but with a sense of some welcome nostalgia. 10/10
2.
I love school productions, maybe because my school didn't have this at all. This is a very worthy performance, I'm ashamed to admit I expected less from it. Highly recommended if you are fans of school stuff. 9/10
3.
youtube
First of all, can someone explain to me why they're called that. I mean, why slime tutorial, it's disgusting, slimes are gross, you guys. but back to the production itself, Seymour's cute, Audrey's cute, Orin's cute. But God, I just pray they bring back the blonde wig. 8/10
4.
youtube
I've said before that I like the dynamic between the main actors, they look organic, I think that's the most important thing. 8,5/10
5.
youtube
I think the biggest thing that got me here was the stage, I love it when productions try to stray away from the original by doing something new with the scenery. It really looks very thoughtful and new. As for the actors themselves I don't know, I didn't feel anything magical, it was, well, ok, nothing more. It was interesting though, Audrey with the glasses. 7/10
6.
youtube
Don't throw stones at me, I know a lot of people love this cast, and considering all the comments on youtube, I think I'm the only person who couldn't handle it. I really had to rewind some scenes, it was so excruciatingly long. I don't know, there's supposed to be something campy about it, but it's basically a mega weird and uncomfortably. 5/10
Ok^ thats all, If you have any favourite productions please share them, it would be interesting to find something new, thanks!!!!

Today, May 17th, would be Howard Ashman's 75th birthday. If you aren't already aware, Howard Ashman worked with Alan Menken to create the wonderful musical Little Shop of Horrors, which has had an undeniable affect on myself and my life. Ashman would go on to work with Menken on multiple Disney films; The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and he even did a lot of early work for Aladdin. He sadly passed away in 1991, during the production of Beauty and the Beast.
Howard Ashman was primarily a lyricist, but he was also a very talented and passionate storyteller. He had such a strong grasp on what made a compelling musical, and in all of his work you can feel an earnest passion for what was created, I think. I personally have a lot of love for the stories him and Alan Menken have brought into the world.
I'd like to conclude my post with words posted today by Alan Menken himself:
Howard Ashman would have turned 75 today. And I'll always ponder what we might have shared and the new works we might have created together in those 35 extra years. Still I somehow know, deep in my heart, that his spirit has been an integral part of everything I've accomplished since his passing. Happy Birthday, Howard!
- Alan Menken
