You know what I think it would be fun to have a fic where Arthur and John separate and they kinda hate it. They spend every solitary second together. Arthur is either sighted again and misses finds everything kind of flat and colorless without John's descriptions or he's still blind but now he has to learn to navigate without John. John is terrified of making decisions on his own because what if it's the wrong choice. They're so toxically codependent by human relationships standards. Also it's 1935 and it's really really awful that they get clocked as a couple everywhere they go and are constantly facing homophobia OR people think John is Arthur's caregiver and Arthur can't be independent and they're facing ableism. Or both. Being human is hard.
