1949 Kurtis Sport Car
The prototype was built upon a 1949 Ford chassis with aluminium bodywork and powered by a Studebaker six-cylinder supercharged engine.
The two seat Kurtis Sport Car went into production in 1949 powered by Ford V8 (80-160hp) engines. After less than 40 vehicles were produced between 1949/50 the project was sold to the Muntz Car Company, which powered the extended four seat Muntz Jet with Cadillac / Lincoln V8 (160hp) engines with GM Hydramatic or 3-speed Borg-Warner manual transmissions. Two Jets were built with 331-cubic-inch (5,420 cc) Chrysler FirePower V8 engines. From 1950-54 less than 200 Muntz Jets were produced.
