This here is what my mock-up album cover looks like in Situ after receiving the format I simply replaced the cover with my own 🙂

So today I looked for images to create a mood board as I didn’t really get the concept of it to begin with.

Here I focused on water and serenity that gives off a peaceful beach vibe, almost everyone is mezmorised by the beauty of the sea even if they don’t see what’s under the water

My album cover will focus on the beauty below

So from last week also, although I’m not really a fan of photoshop etc I had a play around with it trying to figure out different ways to depict this album cover differently for my mock up and so I decided to switch it up and add a lot more colour to it.

I decided to use a lot more colour because I believe that colour is a big factor in what people see first when buying an album, I think the colour is what attracts them in the first place.

So I recently found a mind map I did a week ago 😂 adding things to think about what would make my album cover more appealing than the other album covers that Ocean Alley already have, I also had a think about different materials and other ways to I guess sell this design with merchandise etc. Based on other album covers I’ve seen or bought over the years I thought about their originality and if they were appealing by their design or use of digital depiction.

I recently thought of an idea that I think could really change the covers of albums

All albums that I know of aren’t very interactive and so I thought how cool would it be to make an album cover that was like a snow globe, it would be difficult to create without the correct material but I think it would revolutionize albums.

Do I spent most of my day trying to figure out a way to draw this up and although it seems really dodgy this was my idea for an Ocean Ally cover as part of my Design Projects 1 assessment

This is just a draft obviously I’m gonna do this up again except with some colour

I might do some experimenting with watercolour? Coloured pens? Pencils? What ever make the colour pop

I really want it to attract an audience

Still have a few weeks to go so you never know I might tweak it a little or get some insight to other ideas

Soooooooo here’s my idea for my album cover

I got some inspiration from The Pirates Of The Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales which I watched today and thought how cool what if something like this was on an album cover and it made me even more excited when I realised that the band I chose was called Ocean Ally 😂

But things like this would definitely be something to look at

Soooooo from this I’m gonna try and come up with some approaches to make this album cover like an actual ally in an ocean except a little more mellow and less unapproachable 😂

Ok so you may or may not have heard of this band but their name is Ocean Ally and they’re a Sydney based band I believe who have become pretty popular amongst this age cohort.

A lot of people say that their music is pretty mellow and honeslty I like so many different types of music I just listen to what I think sounds good so one of their songs that caught my fancy was the song CONFIDENCE which was displayed in their album CHIAROSCURO and game out at the beginning of 2018

As seen on this album cover it kind of give me a calm feeling like ripples of water and the colours remind me of a sunset and to me those features are quite aesthetic I think the album cover really suits the style of music they make.

Week 2

So this is the end result of the small album cover task as you can tell my band that was given to me was INXS and the song was Never tear us apart

I wanted to give it a kind of boy band type feel

The background is made up of scrap news paper articles weaves together as seen in previous photos. Although they were in French i wanted to kind of put the idea out there that as a famous band INXS were fairly popular and would have made plenty of headlines hence the newspaper articles

The logo “INXS” is really similar to the original which is something I can work on in the future with different fonts to change things a little more and get more creative

I obviously used neon colours to brighten this practice album cover so that it wasn’t just a plain black and white cover

I believe fright colours are what attract most people to look closer at things like magpies to shiny objects.

The duration of this task took approximately over 2 hours so time management could also be another factor to work on but taking your time I think is really important too

Soooooooo I hope you like this little project and get ready for some more progress towards my larger projects 😬

So as a little bit of research I decide to look at some different album covers..... some being very simplistic yet affective and others being what I believe to be intricately designed to appeal to the eye.

So which is better? Simplicity or complexity ? 🤔😱🙊
