What to Shop in Sri Lanka?
As Indians, we love to shop. For some reason, the inclination towards shopping runs in our veins. It is for this reason, that we almost always carry a bag or two extra with us when setting out for a sojourn, especially an international one, along with some free time on our hands to frequent the most sought after shops and malls. Hence, it is only obvious that we do the same while heading out to the neighbouring nation of Sri Lanka.  While there might be certain similarities in the fashion of the work, Sri Lanka truly stands unmatched when it comes to offering the best that one can possibly have. Right from souvenirs, to handicrafts and even gems, everything found in the quaint streets of this island nation carries a charm of its own! And while there are literally hundreds of shops lined up for tourists from across the world, let us guide you what you must buy, and from where exactly!
Jewels and Jewellery
Tourists of Sri Lanka have always ogled over the magnificent gems that this nation has to offer. Right from raw, uncut stones, to finished gems, finding the one of your choice is as easy as pie in the widespread markets here. However, make sure that you purchase only from a trusted dealer. For what it’s worth, it would harm to try and compare the prices at two or more shops in order to understand the pricing system. Remember, it’s your hard-earned money, and you do not want to spend it in a jiffy. If you’re on the lookout for the best buys, especially with respect to quality, then we recommend you to check out Farhan Gem & Jewellery in Kandy, or the renowned Jewel Qudsi.
Handicrafts
Sri Lanka is known for its artistic flair, and if you’re visiting the country, you must purchase at least a couple of the fine handicrafts offered here. If you have a liking for vibrant clothing, pick a piece of Batik. But don’t be bedazzled by its price. Trust us, it takes days and hours of painstaking work for the artisans to come up with just one piece of this awe-inspiring art. Next, you can pick a piece or two of the astounding teak wood sculptures that can be easily found in the umpteen street side shops as well as high-end boutiques. Just so you know, it might not be a good idea to shop from Laksala. Though supported by the government, it doesn’t always offer the most intricate or finished works.
Souvenirs and Homeware
Paradise road is where you ought to be heading to if you’re willing to get gifts for all your near and dear ones back at home. Right from elaborate dinner sets to candlesticks, here you’ll find almost everything that can come under the ‘home-décor’ umbrella. Moreover, you can easily lay your hands on some enticing souvenirs to remember your sojourn from.
Given that Sri Lanka Visa for Indians is rather easy to obtain at the port of entry, a visit to this majestic island nation is generally hassle-free. All you need to do for getting the Sri Lanka Visa for Indians is to carry your Electronic Travel Authorization or ETA, a passport that stands valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure from India along with an application form and two recent passport-sized photographs. With these in place, you will be easily able to get the Sri Lanka Visa for Indians, which will last for 30 days.

All You Need To Know About Travelling To Singapore
Singapore is a modern luxurious city-state of Southeast Asia. Even though it is a tiny city, it has a lot to offer to the travelers. Hence, it is one of the popular tourist destinations in Asia. It is a travel destination for the young and old alike! Many Singapore tour packages are available from all over the world. So find your deal and get on the flight!
1. Easy going: The public transport in Singapore is very well organized and helps make your travel experience easier. Just grab a metro map and spend some time educating yourself about the map and you will have no trouble shuttling around the city. Their Mass Rapid Transit trains are very efficient in service. A tourist pass purchased will give you unlimited access to MRT. Language isn`t a barrier there since the natives speak English and even the road signs are in English as well. As a first time traveler, you will find that getting around this small city is easy peasy.
2. Travel to the offshore islands: If too much city life bores you, just hop on a boat and explore some of the less-travelled beaches of Lazarus, Kusu, Saint John’s and Sisters' Islands (located in the south of Singapore). You got to head to Marina South Pier first to get hold of ferry cruise tickets to these destinations.
3. Get ready to indulge in Singapore cuisine: Singapore cuisine may not be as famous as Chinese in the rest of the world, so educate yourself about their food before you step into their country. If you want to taste their real cuisine, head to a hawker center.
4. Be a clean tourist: There are hundreds of security cameras that cover the entire country. They are very serious about their civic laws. Hence, taking care of little things like not chewing gum and not littering the streets will save your neck when in Singapore.
5. Expensive city for alcoholic beverages: An alcohol ‘sin’ tax is taken in Singapore. So boozing can get expensive. So if the heat makes you thirst for beer, get it from a coffee shop or hawker center rather than a posh restaurant or bar. Another funny thing that you will find is that beer is served with a bucket of ice since a percentage of locals prefer to drink beer with ice.
6. Orchid fans alert: If you love orchids, then the Botanic Gardens of Singapore, have one of the largest collection of orchids in the entire world. Around 600 different species of orchids are on display, arranged according to their color. It is a must-visit place for gardening enthusiasts.
7. Safe country: Singapore has a very low or negligible crime rate since their laws are very strict and so is its implementation. So as a tourist you should have no qualms of walking the streets of Singapore alone at even 2am in the morning!
8. The Changi airport is a tourist destination in itself: The airport is indeed one of the best in the world. So, while taking your flight back, you can go there a little early to explore all the things that it has to offer.

If you an Indian Passport Holder, but have never travelled internationally, you must do it at the earliest possible. After all, we all need that one vacation, where we can leave all our personal worries, and work related issues behind to embark on a sojourn, filled with love, laughter and happiness!

Visa - What is it?
A visa is nothing but a document that permits you to enter a specific country. You must, however, remember that you can enter the given country only for the pre-decided length of time. Moreover, the purpose of your visit to the country must be very clear. In most cases, your purpose would be one of the following -
· Pleasure Trip
· Work
· Study
· Meeting a Relative
The Need for Visa
With respect to Indian Tourists, a large majority of nations require visas, however, there are some exceptions to it, including -
· Mauritius
· Micronesia
· Saint Kitts and Nevis
· Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
· Trinidad and Tobago
· Vanuatu
· Bhutan

For the rest of the countries of the world, an Indian Tourist must carry a visa. If the visa is not obtained beforehand, there are certain countries, which offer the alternative of ‘Visa-on-arrival’ at the entry ports, however, such countries are limited in number.
Visa Requirements
You now need to understand the fact, that every country has specific requirements that need to be fulfilled in order to get the visa. You can browse the internet for the entry requirements of the country you’re interested in visiting.
One of the exceptions to this rule is the Schengen Visa, wherein a coalition of 22 European along with 4 other nations offer a single visa. This visa allows you to roam around freely across these countries, for a period of a whopping 90 days.
However, all the other countries will require a separate visa. The time for which the visa holds valid for is usually limited. Moreover, the length of your stay is also stipulated and is usually not more than a month’s time. In order to apply for the visa, you’ll vaguely need the following documents-
· A duly filled and signed Visa Application
· A passport that holds valid for at least six months, from the date of your departure from India/ arrival at the international port.
· Passport-sized photographs
· Confirmed return air-tickets
· Confirmed reservation at the hotel
· Proof of sufficient funds for use during your period of stay
In addition to the above, the Visa Consulate of different countries might need certain other documents as well. You must also note that every country has a specific Visa Fee that needs to be paid at the time of submission of the visa application.

9 Reasons Why Goa Is A Backpacker’s HELL!
Are you a backpacker considering traveling to Goa? Well, that is the biggest mistake you could ever make! Think about it – what does it have to offer other than loud music, crazy nightclubs, insane fests, wild parties and five star hotels? If you do not agree, take a look at these nine reasons that Goa is the stuff of nightmares for backpackers.
 1. It is all about 5 stars and luxury: With countless 5-star establishments everywhere, Goa has become all about luxury and extravagance – nothing more. Why? Well, everyone has left those awesome beach shacks that offer amazing authentic Goan cuisine and cheap drinks! Why would you want to take advantage of that, right?
2. It is all sand and beaches: There is nothing but sand and beaches. If you want to go camping, you have to opt for floating teepees and tents. Would that interest you?
3. It is crowded and noisy: Goa is the party capital of India and always crowded and noisy. And who wants to go looking for some peace and quiet in the Devil’s Canyon and Pandava caves?
4. It has nothing but the same old loud parties: Goa is all about loud parties – done to death, right? But then again, unique events like the Silent Noise parties at Palolem Beach can be enjoyed in many places other than Goa.
5. It does not offer much diversity for wildlife activities you can enjoy: Aren’t crab tours and dolphin watching pretty much all Goa has to offer when it comes to wildlife? Who would want to visit the Butterfly Conservatory to see amazing sights of strange caterpillars breaking out of their cocoons, transformed into beautiful winged insects?
6. Surfing, kayaking and rafting – what else is new: For backpacking nature and adventure lovers, Goa’s majestic elephants and the chance to ride on their backs and frolic in the water would not sound appealing at all.
7. It is too small to explore: The drive between North and South Goa is just 65 km. Who would want to rent a bike and go exploring such a small place? There would not be anything interesting to see, right?
8. Shopping in Goa is boring: Do you want to carry souvenirs home for everyone? Well, Goa is definitely not the place for you. After all, all it has to offer are night markets at Arambol Beach – nothing much to see there.
9. Live music jams in cafés are not your cup of tea: Who wants to listen to a bunch of strangers jamming at random cafés? A backpacker would never enjoy something like that! You have all the music you need in your phone, thank you very much!
Gotcha! Goa is hands down the coolest destination for every backpacker! It is a paradise with affordable options perfect for backpackers. Goa holiday packages offer exciting adventures for you to enjoy, even on a small budget. There are Goa family packages too which offer some amazing deals so you and your family can enjoy the ultimate Goa experience without spending a fortune.
Musafir.com is the place for you if you are looking for Goa holiday packages that are fun-filled and affordable, even if you are backpacker on a shoestring budget.

10.  He is friendly: Having travelled far and wide and made friends all over, you can be sure that your backpacker is a friendly and charming guy. Your friends and family will love him!
11. He is open-minded: being a backpacker gives a person a unique way of looking at life. He has a broad perspective and is open to anything you want to do.
12. He knows how to adapt: Travelling on a tight budget requires one to adjust to different situations and conditions. Your backpacker can make the best of any situation and bend and break, according to the need of the hour.

5 Things to Remember When You Are in Australia
Are you planning to travel to world’s largest island?
Located between Indian and Pacific Ocean, it is undoubtedly an amazing place to be at. The purpose of your travel may be adventures, or exploring the traditions, or enjoying your holidays – Australia can serve every of these purposes very efficiently.
Knowing about the dynamics, knowing some travel tips and learning about the places to visit in Australia will surely help you in enjoying the holidays to the extreme. So, here’s a list of 5 things to remember when you are in Australia.
1. It’s a Huge place with versatile whether and bio-diversity
Being the 6th largest country, the place has the lowest population density. You may have seen the kangaroos or koalas in the wild and suburban areas but don’t expect them to be everywhere. They stay away from the city buzz. So, do visit the national parks, zoos or sanctuaries as a part of your Australian package as you can’t miss them on your visit.
Sun will surprise you by its intense effects if it’s summer (December to March). Plan your trip in April, May, October or November.
2. Being offline is Either Fine or Expensive
If you are habitual of being online (like always) then it’s the time to re-think. The connection is slow and expensive in Australia. You may get Wi-Fi facilities in hotels or cafés but it will not be as steady as your home network. In such case, either get a local Telstra Sim Card ($30-50 per month) or use the Wi-Fi at local library/McDonald’s as these are the cheapest alternatives available for you.
3. The Places to Visit in Australia
The most important question for you must be which cities to include in your Australian Packages. So, here are some excellent places to visit in Australia –
· Sydney
· Alice Spring
· Great Barrier Reef
· Cairns
· Perth
· Melbourne
· Darwin
· Hobart
· Brisbane
· Adelaide
Infrastructure, beaches, greenery, calming environment and culture of these places will surely be the best experience of your life. So, don’t miss being at these places while enjoying your Australian Packages.
4. Australia is Expensive and Tipping is not a custom.
Australia is expensive in every sense. So, keeping the lowest accommodation budget of $100 per day per person seems fair when you are traveling in the country. To save money, you can fly with budget flights, stay in hostels, and avoid drinking. There are plenty of free public BBQs which will let you cook your own food.
If you are at a hotel or bar - keep in mind that leaving a small tip in a country with lowest per hour income nearing to approximately $16 cannot be a custom. So, either keep it high or just don’t do.
5. You are going to Love the Country
Australia possesses extreme diversity. Lush green rain forests, beautiful sunsets, awe-striking beach sceneries and amazing peoples in Australia will make your journey memorable for sure.
Have you been to Australia or planning to visit the country? Share your experiences, expectations, and thoughts about the trip by commenting below.

 Sydney
Sydney is modern and chic with a hint of distinct history. It is one of the most scenic harbours in Australia, and was one of the first places to be inhabited by people in Oz, when it was still a British penal colony. The iconic Sydney Harbor Bridge and the ever popular Opera House are a must-see at Sydney.
 Adelaide
Australia’s fifth largest city, Adelaide is also the capital of South Australia. It is home to 1.2 million people today and also home to many of this amazing nation’s popular wine makers. It will leave you stupefied, enthralled and a wee bit smarter! Climbing Mount Wellington is a must at Hobart. The whiskey bars and craft beer are out of the world and will leave you yearning for more.
