Syd: The Inevitable Poll

okay pink floyd people, recently I've been considering making the dangerous poll I think we've all wondered if we'd ever see, "what do you think happened to syd?", and I'm very conflicted about whether to actually go through with it. I would like input.

the vibe I get is that we're all a little afraid to have that conversation, but also that we'd probably be curious to see what other people think. it requires a couple of BIG caveats like "none of us actually have enough information to reliably make that judgement" and "its not really any of our business", which are both fair points for "well then don't post the poll", but I also kind of think that avoiding the topic so completely is kind of why syd tends to be underrepresented in fandom conversation. its complicated and none of us want to overstep by, for instance, posting a meme that crosses a line. but if we never talk about it how will we know where that line is?

I for one, am cautiously optimistic enough to think that we could handle this poll and constructively engage with it (or! just vote and not even tag and silently watch the results!). but what do you think?

15 September is a slightly dim day since Rick left us in 2008, but instead of dwelling on the inevitable melancholy today I’d like to remember those moments in which I felt less alone thanks to his music. He’s very close to my heart and I greatly appreciate all the times he’s been a source of comfort even though he’s been gone for a while.
