Sick leave

Hi all. I am so so sorry that I missed posting RFM this week. Since May 25, I've been dealing with bronchitis, and I've had trouble sleeping through the night. Fortunately, yesterday my doctor prescribed some different medications and last night I got four consecutive hours of sleep...for the first time since Memorial Day weekend. (Yes, this is a huge win.)

I'll post RFM this coming Monday. If you submitted something to RFM for this week, you can either submit an updated entry, or you can just sit back and relax knowing that I will post your previous submission on Monday June 16.

Again, I'm so sorry for just forgetting this past Monday. This stuff has really done a number on me. (Definitely no pneumonia, no Covid, no secondary infections. But...dang. Bronchitis is a 3-week houseguest, and the last time I had this I was 14 and had a bit more energy than I do at 50-mumble.

Tumblr has been "going to shut down" so many times now - even in just the past 5 years - that it's hard to know when it's real and when it's another false alarm. When Sam was doing Radio Free Monday, he started crossposting this on Dreamwidth, and I've continued the tradition so that RFM is always available in multiple places.

Problem is...Dreamwidth doesn't have reblogs like Tumblr does. It's a different platform, built for a different type of interaction. So while the information is there for other DW users to read and interact with, it isn't as easily shareable.

Who what where...

Hi all, I've seen another wave of concern for the future of El Hellsite. For quite a while, stretching back to Sam's original time running RFM, it's been posted over on Dreamwidth as well as here. And, of course, the submission form is on Google.

I set up a whole separate site for RFM over on Dreamwidth. If you're there, you may want to give this a follow: https://radiofreemonday.dreamwidth.org Dreamwidth is free, they do have paid options. It's like Livejournal (same original codebase) but not owned by Russia. Also...no reblogging. Just replies.

If El Hellsite does go kerflooey, I'd like to post this on at least one additional platform - something with reblogs - but I'm kind of leery about posting it on mundane platforms like BlueSky. I'd be inundated with requests to post, I don't know if I could handle it all, and honestly...if this does break containment, there would be a MUCH. MUCH. longer list each week. Right now I'm kind of toying with setting up something on the Fediverse and starting to post there, just to see what might happen / grow a teeny tiny bit more slowly. (Also because I'm on the Fediverse, so them's mah peeps too. It's a smaller audience than BlueSky due to how the instances interact, there's a very heavy fannish component, and a lot of community-minded folks on the servers that I've seen. No, I'm not on mastodon.social. Not jumping into that pool, nosiree. Bigass instance. Too many life forms.)

Stjohnstarling is looking to help Treesah, a researcher at University of Massachusetts. Treesah is collecting wild hops samples native to the US Northeast. Kayla Somarriba is helping her family raise money for attorney fees. Assaulted by ICE in Spokane WA, they had all their truck windows smashed when ICE claimed that they had a warrant for her husband, who is completing the green card process. ICE declined to show and arrest warrant, and forcibly removed her husband and brother-in-law from the truck. Barbara Rogers needs funds quickly to avoid homelessness, and in the long term will need additional funds to move from Georgia US to Massachussetts US.
