According to a saheeh hadeeth, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever among you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand [by taking action]; if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out]; and if he cannot, then with his heart [by at least hating it and believing that it is wrong], and that is the weakest of faith.” Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh.

Allah has put us in a position where we may feel we can't do much, but one of the things we can do is give voice to feelings and sentiments, and ideas about how to interpret a situation. Sometimes this at least unites the believers in shared feelings and creates unity, sometimes it gives pointers to those who may be unsure about how to interpret a situation about how to see it, sometimes it gives fire in our hearts that can lead to action. Our voices have power and resonance too and can create the tsunami that leads to change. It is when we are silent that oppression can continue. So while we feel helpless, even the expression of helplessness is the first step towards change because it frames the events of where truth lies and is our first step. so everyone, express your anguish, because whilst it may feel a small contribution, it is a contribution to how events are seen.
