Me: *thinks about how the beauty standards in the black community for Black women are ridiculously high; we are encouraged to bleach our skin, do our hair in elaborate/time consuming/costly styles, wear a full beat at all times, and wear costly heels/outfits*

Me: *thinks about how so many black women feel pressured to have exaggerated pear shaped or hourglass bodies and end up getting ridiculous surgeries (and develop eating disorders but go ignored because anorexia and bulimia are for White women, am I right ladies?)*

Yeah, no. Let black women be human beings, free from the ridiculously high standards that often come at the cost of our health (im looking at you, traction alopecia).

i’ve noticed that when liberal feminists want to criticize an aspect of liberal feminism, but still haven’t defected from said feminism, they always tack on the word ‘white’ in front of it instead of just criticizing their particular brand of feminism for what it is. that’s why when i became a radical feminist it opened up a whole new realm of dialogue for me. it allowed me to identify and call out the pitfalls of modern feminism without needing to shift the blame onto a specific demographic of women who are also affected and oppressed by patriarchy
