I think Morrigan should have been more creepy and tragic in DATV. And by this I mean. She should have had flemeths mannerisms.

Like. This is a woman who fought tooth and nail not to have to give up her body to her mother. And she failed. She is possessed by that fragment of mythal that resided in Flemeth. And if they were going to do this they should have leaned into it way more than simply making it a matter of plot/lore dumping convince.

Imagine Morrigan laughing like her mother, that iconic Flemeth laugh. Imagine Morrigan calling herself foolish for not wanting to be the next host in a way that feels slightly out of character and vitriolic. Imagine Morrigan speaking in those riddle type ways that Flemeth did.

Idk man. I think they should have made it more creepy if they really were going for that.

Thinking about Shale and Wynne going to Tevinter together post blight. The time they spend together - pissing off everyone in their path.

Thinking about Wynne growing weaker with every passing day, sleeping more and eating less.

Thinking about Shale bringing her food, chiding her for not eating enough. Watching her as she sleeps, bringing her books from the top of the shelf. The irony of Shale tending to a human once more, but this time out of compassion.

Thinking about Wynne passing away in Shales cold, stone arms. A smile on her face and the chant of light on her lips. The golem left in a silent room when neither of them breathe anymore.

It’s Honnleath again, Shale finding no purpose in existence, no goals, no motivation. Do they go back to Ferelden? I doubt they are fond of Tevinter.

It’s cruelty of immortality.

Thinking about the immense privilege of Oghren.

There will be a day where I deeply analyse the trauma of this stinky stinky man, and what drives him to drink - but today I’m just mad.

Oghren is the warrior caste, so long as he can fight he’s given purpose and privilege in his society. It’s not as if he’s in the legion of the dead - the arguably real warrior caste.

When he goes off the deep end, we find him disgraced from high society, but still privy to all its privileges. He gets to roam the rich quarters, be a drunken nuisance, run up bar tabs, and abuse the street guards with just a shrug. No prison time, just a ban from the proving grounds.

Can you imagine if a casteless dwarf did that??? They’d end up with broken knees and forced to kneel in mud. His socio economic privilege is insane, and the worst part is that he doesn’t see it. He hates the upper class not because of the injustice of it all, but because they won’t spend anymore resources on finding his wife and house in the deep roads. A wife he constantly fought with and was not supportive of (I can fathom a million reasons why she didn’t bring him on the expedition).

I won’t discuss his actions in the dlc (yet), but I hate that man. I hate how close he came to redemption and turned away from it over and over. The writers did a wonderful job of making him so easy to loathe.

Not to harp on about a DLC character of all things, but my god was Shale ahead of their time.

Seamlessly tied into the lore and story of the game.

Gave us a dwarven companion that wasn’t ….him….

What I truly adore about Shale is their embrace of their body. It would have been so easy for the writers to shoehorn in body dysmorphia for the one (formerly) female character without an hourglass figure, but they didn’t!!!!

Shale adored their gemstones and decorated their body happily. Openly discussed enjoying their stone form, the practicality of it, how beautiful they thought it was. They don’t mourn their old form or gender, because it was Shale that chose to change in the first place.

As a woman that’s always been stronger and larger, god I adore Shale. Every time I find myself sucking in my stomach I remind myself of them. That I too possess the strength and snark capable of throwing stones and looking wonderful. They are not mutually exclusive.
