Alright, since I'm back from the con I can upload the big piece I got done(ish) during the weekend: Leviathan Princess! I showed the rough concepts for her dress before, but I imagine you'd like to see the half-leviathan half-lady princess that fills those clothes. Yes, her dress is partially made of pirate ship sails, fishing nets, and anchors as baubles/tassels.

I also drew her best friend, Sailing Wizard, a mysterious wizard who helps Leviathan Princess shrink down from time to time! They go on adventures as they aimlessly travel the sea without a map.

That’s what Daikaiju Yuki is — the product of “what would I want from a new thing based on all my tastes right now?” It’s wild that people share the enthusiasm I had for the concept starting a decade ago.

It’s May! That means it’s Daikaiju Yuki anniversary month. There’ll be an announcement regarding DKY very soon.

Revisiting the first DKY, I’ve been glad of two things — one, to be able to fix things I didn’t do particularly well writing-wise on my first go-around writing a book; two, to revisit the characters and the story of that original adventure ten years after I first came up with the idea.

The book was published in 2017, but I started writing it two years earlier, making this the ten year anniversary of when it all began. Every once in a while, someone still posts about the series, discovers it. Ten years on, it’s fun to continue sharing this story, and I want people to get as much out of it as they can.

i used to dislike that series for its general "american action hero" vibes and while im still not realllllly a fan, i am slowly warming up to it.

Gamera Forever? I've not heard of this! Where do I find it? Nothing came up when I searched Google or Youtube...?

hey! My apologies, I probably should have included context when I made my post! I think I assumed most people had seen it.

Gamera Forever is a stock footage fan film that combines Gamera Vs. Zigra and Super Monster into one glorious event. I believe @/astoundingbeyondbelief was the primary organizer/editor for it, and you can watch all 2 hours of it here on the Internet Archive! According to their description, it was on YouTube at one point but got claimed and taken down. The film features some re-dubbing along with subtitles for Gamera and I find it profoundly charming. Zigra is my favourite part obviously, but I think they did a great job in merging the two films into something that makes more sense than Super Monster does alone[if that makes sense…] But yeah, if you like Gamera, I’d say give it a watch!
