Raising a brow before visibly rolling her mismatched eyes in response to what she perceived as an attempt at flirting, though giving him a smile to show she wasn't offended, "anyone can be pretty with enough makeup," she commented playfully before looking at the phone.
"Huh, he's smaller than I thought he'd be, I always thought turtles were really big. Where do you keep him? Does he live in a fish tank?" Now that she thought about it, Ala wasn't sure if turtles were the ones that lived in water or not. She reached into her bag and pulled out a small toolset and mindlessly began switching out the wheels on her skates that she'd pulled from the backpack alongside them.
Pietro took out his phone, bringing up the photo gallery which was almost exclusively photos of his turtle. "There he is," he held out the phone to her. "Ala? That's a pretty name, must match with your face pretty well."

Ala couldn't prevent the small laugh that slipped out when he said the turtles name, though hearing his own name caught a memory, that wasn't a common name so why did she recognise it? "I'm Ala, do you have a picture of, Mr Dibbles? I have some tadpoles in a bucket if that counts as a pet."
"I have a turtle as a pet," Pietro let out a little laugh and gave a small shrug. He thought that the girl was cute. He had seen her around before, he had just never been able to actually speak to her for any reason. He'd never had any excuse to. But then he'd just caught her one day. And that was when he had brought up the turtle. His brain had always worked slower than his mouth.
"His name is Mr Dibbles," he told her. "Oh, and I'm Pietro."

"If I say then I don't get it," Jackie stated rather matter of factly, which drew a chuckle from Samuel. "Daddy's always good," she said with a nod, though Sam was smirking behind her back and gave Henry a wink.
"Come on, you go wash up while daddy and uncle Henry finish off putting the lights up and then we'll be in for dinner hm?" He suggested, wanting some alone time with Henry and knowing Jackie would do anything he told her, she was a good girl like that.
"Traffic was bad, which wasn't surprising. I guess I'm not the only one that couldn't get off work until the last minute. Home for the holidays, right?" His smile was still beaming as he bounced Jackie in his arms.
"What did you ask Santa for, my little friend, and were you good allllll year?" He dragged out the word and laughed, "What about daddy, was he good too?"

Ala couldn't help but roll her mismatched eyes, "a pet turtle? People don't have turtles as pets," at least as far as she was aware that was the case. The pink haired girl was enjoying a rare day to herself, the bakery was closed for the day due to an electrical issue and her daughter was at the child minder she went to while she worked.
It was strange being out alone in the day, she figured she'd may as well attempt to meet some of the locals while she could outside of work. Of course people had assumed she was a teenager due to being a mere five foot tall, but the moment she'd shed her jacket, revealing her heavily tattooed arms featuring pastel gore and women in bondage tattoos, she had eyes on her and this man had attempted to talk to her.

"I have a pet turtle. You should come and say hello to him, he's a good little turtle. I saved him from two kids that wanted to hurt him," Pietro smiled.

It felt strange to be walking into a ballroom, something very alien to a man that spent most of his life on the open ocean, but he'd spent enough time on dry land to no longer have the effects of sea legs, or leg in his case. Having done his best to hide the tattoo on his neck, Kid held out the invitation he'd managed to bribe out of someone to attend in their place, after a few moments he was waved in and he entered.
The prosthetic helped the pirate walk with barely a limp, though it would become more noticeable if he didn't rest after too long. Accepting a drink from a passing servant carrying a tray of glasses, he couldn't help but scrunch his nose up as he brought it to his lips, "why do these things never have rum?" He murmured to himself, not realising there was a woman within ear shot until he glanced to his side, "evening."

Sam couldn't help but chuckle at that, "cheesy," Jackie was already wrapping her little arms around Henry and giggling happily. It wasn't that he didn't think Henry would come back, but he couldn't help that feeling that something would get in the way of his return, but here he was, their first Christmas together since childhood.
He made his way off the ladder and over to Henry, picking the hat off his head and plopping it down onto Jackie who giggled as it covered her eyes before she pushed it back up. "Was starting to worry you wouldn't make it."
He'd been driving for hours, but watching the city in the rearview mirror wasn't as bittersweet as he thought it would be. There was nothing left for him there now, even though New York had been his home for so many years, before and after his parents.
He didn't think he'd ever be moving back to the country, but here he was, and he couldn't be happier. His transfer had finally come though after weeks of waiting and red tape. The department didn't want to let him go, and while that was flattering, it was also annoying him.
He had some of his belongings with him and the rest were coming by moving company the next day. Not that he had that many things, of course. He'd left a great deal of the furniture behind.
As he pulled up into Sam's driveway, Max got up close to the passenger side window in his xmas sweater, his eyes wide, getting excited.
Henry stepped out if his car wearing a Santa's hat, and went to the trunk to pull out a red bag filled with gifts, most of them for Jackie, of course.
"Hi, Jackie!" He called and went down on his knee, "Merry Christmas, baby!" He looked upwards at his handsome boyfriend stringing the lights. "If you're gonna fall, do it into my arms, ok?"

A sigh of relief left the pale boy's lips, clearly thankful she didn't pry further, the last thing he wanted was for Granny to find out he'd said too much and have her stop him seeing Nancy.
Galadir found himself asking Nancy a lot of questions about her hometown as they made their way to the cave, clearly not knowing much about life away from the oceans edge.
Once they arrived he got out of his wheelchair and put the breaks on, knowing he couldn't take it in the cave and tucked it just out of sight of anyone who might happen to pass them, taking the bag from the back that held his towel, some dry clothes and food that Granny had given for them to eat. "Isn't it beautiful?" He asked as he looked over the entrance, it was huge yet somehow people always missed it, the entrance glistened almost as though enchanted. "Be careful not to slip, there's a lot of sharp rocks in the entrance."
Nancy nodded slowly. That was not the answer that she had been expecting to hear. But, she didn't want to press him any further. That wouldn't be fair. "Okay. Well, lets head to this cave and have a good day together." She decided.

A weak smile responded to his insistence that she wasn't defective, she didn't believe him but she wasn't going to argue, she could tell he was being genuine, nodding at the mention of military.
Another nod and a stronger smile came as she accepted the open can. "You're nice," she stated rather matter of factly before taking a sip. Her eyes wandered back to the phone, she'd seen humans using them but had thought they were just mobile telephones, she'd never understood why people were always touching them when they weren't speaking into it, but now she knew it held a map her curiosity couldn't be ignored. "What else can that do? You said it's a computer?"
However just as she asked her questions, another customer entered and she fumbled in the pocket of her overall dress to pull out some tinted glasses that obscured the moons in her eyes, setting the can down and sliding down off the washer. "Hi! Do you need a hand?" It didn't take too long to help show the stranger how the machines worked before she was back with Henry, this time standing beside him and picking her drink back up, looking at him expectantly.
"You're not defective to me, I think you're amazing." He says honestly, it's not a flirt or a come on, just how he sees her. He's sure that anyone would've felt the same the moment they met her. "That sounds scary though, to be guarded, probably by the military."
He lifted the case of drinks and broke the seal keeping them together. "You can have all of them, I brought them for you. But I think I'll join you, if that's ok?" He took a can and opened it for her. "Anytime you want something like this, just ask, you deserve to experience things you like."

Quickly shaking her head Maia gave a small chuckle, "we'd never go back, they had big guns and I didn't like it. Don't think they noticed we left anyway, we're defective so we weren't useful for them, I'm the most defective though," she said gesturing towards her face, towards her moon filled eyes and twinkling freckles. She wasn't meant to say anything, but she didn't care.
"They were mean, it's better here we have freedom," even with the restrictions the elders placed on her, with not allowing her to go out and interact with humans, she still felt more free than she did back in the compound. She eyed the cokes that Henry had brought for her, "can I have one?"
Henry couldn't help but smile, "In a way it fits in there, sure."
At this point he was not surprised at the blurred out area of the map. It was becoming more and more obvious that something otherworldly was going on with Maia and her family (or cult) members. "Area 51, really?" He said this with a slight sarcastic inflection that she probably wouldn't notice. It would be Area 51, wouldn't it?
"Yeah, maybe it is broken. A phone is like a mini computer these days, it can glitch from time to time. Have you ever been back home since you left? Why did you leave?"
He wasn't sure how much her family would allow or like her to tell, but for the sake of his own curiosity, he had to ask.

continued from here with @rebelli0usfamily
Bricriu had made sure Lily was with his parents before he went looking for her, knowing the cops wouldn't do shit. It hadn't been all that easy to figure out where they'd taken Nancy, but once he found her he wasn't going to leave her there.
He'd ended up camping out, watching, waiting for the perfect chance until it happened, the window of opportunity. It wasn't much longer before he'd found a way in without being seen. Upon hearing her voice he hushed softly in the dark, "shh, don't alert them they didn't see me come in."
Puling his phone out he turned the torch on and pointed it into the cage, "are you hurt?"
