@scavengess
KYLO REN remembered it well; how he usurped his master, fought off his elite guards and offered a hand to the scavenger turned hope of the galaxy. Rey was from nothing. Born from nothing, destined to have died by his hand through his master’s command. But Kylo saw something in her, averting her fate and fighting alongside her instead, felling Snoke once and for all. He thought he saw the future... with Rey by his side, the First Order at his command and the galaxy under his fist. BUT it was not meant to be. She rejected him. Rey clung desperately in the past, a past Kylo vehemently wanted burned and scattered as ashes in the wind. She made her choice and would side with the light, despite all the power she could attain with him at the galaxy’s helm.
FOR that, she would die. “...I know you can feel me,” he murmured, using their established connection through the Force to communicate. “I’ve not forgotten. So, I hope you know why I’m here, Rey. I told him I’d kill you and I’ve come to deliver.” Anger swelled within him, his grip tightening around his lightsaber, his thumb pressing the button, igniting the fiery blade to life. “It will not be like last time.”

THE scent was so strong, Kylo Ren had to cover his nose for a brief moment. His expression twisted in mild disgust, but it did not take long for him to get over it. It took him a moment to recognize the strong smell of alcohol and while not one to partake, he knew its effects on people. A turn of the head, following the scent till his eyes fell upon what looked like a scantly clad, humanoid woman.
“You reek.“ He bluntly stated, unsure of what to make of this situation.

LET the past die. Kill it if you have you to. That’s the only way to become what you were truly meant to be. AGAIN and again, he repeated the phrase like a mantra in his head. A new order was at the cusp of his grasp, taken from the very mentor that groomed him to be the galaxy’s new oppressor. Take it he did; the might of an empire at the palm of his hands and yet what he truly desired still eluded him. No, it rejected him completely. SO be it, he had decided. Rey made her choice and for that, she will die too, along with everyone else that would oppose his rise to power. Not even the Hive would quell the storm brewing within this vessel of the dark side of the Force.
BUT what to do? His followers, those loyal to his cause, remained in the city, bled through by some means. He didn’t question it. They had their uses. Now he had to use them. Perhaps the timely arrival of an intriguing eavesdropper, might lend him an idea? “Do you want to come out and introduce yourself? Or should I drag you out instead?”

EVER drawn to the dark side, he immediately sought out this source of power. Through his connection to the Force, he sensed unimaginable evil somewhere within the city. At first, he thought to snuff it out--a rival--in what could turn out in a power struggle down the line. But he was wiser now, or so he would like to think. Though he despised how Snoke treated him, he could find value in the way his dark mentor kept curs like Hux in line. PERHAPS, he thought, he could bargain with this evil on equal footing. If not, then they would end by his lightsaber.
BUT to his great confusion, only a girl stood where evil should be. A girl--a child--even, almost fragile. “Just you?” he asked, his eyes trailing from one end of the area to another. Indeed, it was just her. “...Is it hiding? Tell me where. Something was supposed to be here. It can’t be just you. So tell me, where is it?”

He didn’t know that her first pile of bodies hadn’t been her own doing; many didn’t. They assumed she had been hardened as a spy, when it had been war. Warm blood freezing on snow, seen by a girl much too young. And so, she simply gave another shrug of her shoulder. “Not yours either.”
At his words, Natasha made a quiet noise, half between a laugh, mirthless, and a scoff. Even so, the sound wasn’t particularly unkind, and oh how she was capable of being unkind. “What a good Samaritan you are. And no, I don’t kill people for simply being annoying.” It was one thing to threaten someone with death, another one to actually deliver it. Threats usually worked well enough for her.

Her expression lost some of its seriousness, and instead she gave a curious tilt of her head. “You didn’t have that last time.” A nod that shifted her red curls indicated at his sheathed weapon, almost as interesting to her as the man behind the mask.
DEFINITELY not his first. She should go visit his uncle’s first temple. Or whatever’s left of it, after he burned it all to the ground. The dark side had been nurturing inside him, all that time and his uncle and mentor, Luke Skywalker, saw it all. In a decision that would shake the foundations of his and the galaxy’s, no matter how fleeting, that night created Kylo Ren. And then his body count rose, showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.
THREATS always had a chance of falling on deaf ears. Tenacity, despite overwhelming odds. How his mother’s Resistance showed this time and time again, unyielding in the might of The First Order. Threats could only come so far. Total annihilation, however, is absolute. “THEY WON’T BE BOTHERING ANYONE AGAIN,” he added, sidestepping the remark.
INTRIGUE caught the woman, bringing her attention to his lightsaber. A weapon for a more civilized age. The weapon he built under his uncle’s tutelage. The very same that helped slaughter his fellow students and after taking to Snoke, he bled the crystal red, cracking it into the unstable state that it is now. “EARNED, AS OUR ESTEEMED OVERLORDS WOULD HAVE US SAY.”

scavengess:
All her life she had spent waiting. Waiting to learn, waiting to grow, waiting to leave. Waiting to return, waiting for escape, waiting for guidance. Even now the girl was still waiting. Though this city provided many questions and answers, one went unheard from the scavenger. What was she waiting for here?
That night she had decided to stay and work overtime. She had to, seeing as a recent commission forced her to use tools not at her disposal at home. Covered in oil and grime, even now her diligence does not falter, though her eyes begin to grow heavy. The only sounds that could be heard were coming from the tools she used, until the sound of footsteps could be heard. Rey didn’t think too much of it, till everything around her fell dead silent except for those footsteps and her own breathing.
Turning in her chair, she sees him. All the fatigue and tiredness from working long hours disappears in an instant as she sees Kylo Ren standing right in her work garage. Eyes wide, after a split instant of fear and confusion Rey reaches for her blaster beside her.
“Another step and I shoot! I mean it!”
@raggedconflict
ALONE in his chambers. He preferred it this way, meditating in solitude. Kylo kept his mind busy, still looking for the path he so desperately sought, his soul lost in a sea of conflict. Where does he stand now in all of this? What purpose did he serve to Snoke when his master was so far away, beyond communing with him even through the Force. To that end he was left alone with his thoughts, free from the supreme leader’s prying eyes. REALIZATION set in, and slowly, he began to flirt with the idea of being free of Snoke completely. That is, until he felt a familiar presence. An unwanted, bitter presence that the Force had somehow let him connect to. Brows scrunched in confusion, unable to pinpoint what exactly was causing such a sensation. He straightened from his meditative stance, turned and nearly gasped. REY was right there, in plain sight. Somehow.
LIKE her, he too, had a knee-jerk reaction to draw his weapon. His lightsaber flared to life, painting his darkly lit room with a vivid red glow. “Me? What are you doing here, you greasy rat?” Kylo demanded, obviously angry at the intrusion. “I thought we had an agreement? You were to stay out of my way and I was to leave you and your idiot friends alone!”

for him, it’s like yesterday. yesterday that the blood red of salt stained the inside of his eyelids, leaving him fixated upon the earth as an artist’s are upon their masterpiece. but when he sees him; still as gruesomely apparent, still a fixture of bleakness & a reminder of all that he cannot be, he is not elated. there is no happiness there, no relief. he doesn’t thank stars for their doing, nor does he thank fate for entwining them both together once more. he curses. silently. with narrowed eyes and a twitching lip.
“ ren. “
the word is like a slur, dirty and unwanted.
“ your tone. “ he hisses. command means everything, even now. even here. the events of the past are like tattered, flickering flames. he can barely forget it, the day kylo ren had assumed control. the day everything seemed to grind to that shuddering hault. “ i could ask the same of you. “ he bites his tongue. his mouth tastes like iron & resentment. he refuses to call him leader, refuses it so much his face blotches into an array of ugly pink and white. a sickly disposition, to say the least. “ are there any others i should know about? “ he doesn’t care about any of them, save phasma. save for the few officers he almost liked. perhaps snoke— no, foolish. he’d seen the evidence. the clear cut which could only belong to that of a burning saber. the violence of it, the horror. it had scarred him in some private, emotional manner.
>he brings his hands behind his back. smart and tidy, neat and organised. he is the personification of cool and calm despite the rage tickling within his chest. he’s the underwater stillness below the raging storm of kylo ren, after all. harmony at its worst. it had always been that way. but he was hungry— desperate. he watched every angle of ren from where he could, waiting. he kept his thoughts as guarded as ever, his feelings more so. he was used to the presence of two force-manipulators after all. it was a natural habit, to raise the gates as he does, to cloak himself with a shield of firmness.
THE loathing was mutual-- always had been. As constant as the struggle he fought within himself. The man had always looked to Kylo with scorn, what with his own rise to power parallel to the general’s own, competing for command and bickering over decisions like children, stopped only by the oppressive glare of their Supreme Leader. Even now, he can feel the familiar, scathing disapproval of Hux, more palpable than ever.
YET something seemed amiss in all the animosity they cared not to hide from one another.
“NONE.“ Plain, simple and unfortunate. Ah, save for one other outside their Order, but Kylo doubted Hux would care about a single scavenger girl. It was personal when it came to Rey and beyond Hux’s grasp as to why that girl would be of any importance. So Kylo omitted that fact. Besides, he entertained the idea that should the two ever meet within the Hive, the First Order’s general might experience being humbled by her, so to speak.
“BUT I HAVE GATHERED SOME WHO BELIEVE IN THE ORDER’S CAUSE. PERHAPS YOU’LL MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL THEN, INSTEAD OF STANDING AROUND?“ Oh, there was the snark. Something they exchanged often, full of vitriol and devoid of any respect. While Kylo tolerated Hux, he knew the man would be wise enough to not step over the line, lest he be choked or thrown across a room.

The King Is Dead, Long Live The King
@starkilld
TWO years. Two years in relative isolation from his army; the galaxy’s fist that would spearhead a new order, leaving the weak republic and reducing the Resistance to ashes between the stars. Two years he was free of Snoke’s influence, unshackled from the merciless stare of his master who’s disappointment in him could be felt light years away, his defeat at the hands of some junker girl from a backwater-planet weighing heavy still. Two years he was left alone to reflect on his past victories, the path he forged for himself without Snoke, with only the guidance of the dark side of the Force itself as his beacon to fully tear himself from the light’s influence within the city. TWO years, free of it all. Until today.
“...HUX.“ The name left a bad taste in his mouth. He would recognize that pompous, arrogant stride anywhere, the man’s ginger hair might as well be a flare. The annoying sneer on his inferior--... colleague’s face, was recognizable even across light years... unfortunately. A muffled sigh emanated from Kylo’s mask. “WHY? WHY ARE YOU HERE?” Why you, of all people? Phasma would have been so much better.

wxtchofthewilds:
This was the only part of the vast labyrinth of concrete and metal that made sense to the witch. Nature was always nature, no matter how much or how little; no matter where one were to end up.
And yet even this felt man-made. A lake of green surrounded by stone. At least it was quieter– one could gather their thoughts here. And it was precisely what Morrigan intended on doing. Or she would, if the man she were about to absently walk by hadn’t started talking to her. She could hardly make it out; it seemed his helmet was muffling his speech.
“I cannot understand what you’re saying, but unless you are about to suggest how I am to escape this prison you will find it may not be worth my time.”
THE intrusion came from a woman, having wandered her way to the space he foolishly thought would be his own. Despite the city’s vastness, it would seem that even among the tangled roots and dense foliage of this sector, strangers can still bump into each other. Curious, how that worked. And infinitely more irksome. AT her remark, beneath the unflinching mask was a twitch of the eye, feeling rather insulted that this woman felt all but intimidated by his presence. Loathe he was to admit, but the mask was steadily losing its effectiveness, adding more to his irritation. Frustrated, Kylo removed his heavy helmet, revealing himself to her, brows furrowed and a scarred grimace to match.
“You won’t,“ Kylo shot back, in part due to his mounting annoyance. That, and it was the truth. A bitter pill to swallow and he rubbed it in her face to boot. “We’re both captives in this city. A way out is nigh impossible unless the scientists whim it themselves.“

With all the weaponry she had seen, alien and man-made alike, she hadn’t seen a blade like that before. The wielder, the man in the mask who Natasha had stumbled across before. Red and black, blood and ink; much like herself.
Perhaps somewhere, her fellow Avengers would be disappointed in her for failing to stop such a carnage, for failing to even begin to try. But she wasn’t stupid enough to intervene blindly and risk her life for men who would only scorn her, like the ones who called her Black Widow as though it were a slur, followed by the Soviet harlot! Those men didn’t survive her either.

Natasha jumped down from her perch when her presence was inevitably discovered. “Perhaps we’re not so different then,” she said with a delicate shrug of her shoulder, unflinching at the fallen bodies at her feet but still keeping her distance from him. Instead, she assessed the damage; cut and cauterised. Interesting. “Bit of an over-reaction though, don’t you think?”
THERE was no use hiding from someone like him. Even the most silent of footsteps meant nothing when one’s own thoughts and intentions would betray their location. Kylo was no mind-reader, but he had a sense for these things, especially those that would hide themselves from him. “COLD, COMING FROM YOU,” he remarked, noting the lack of sympathy across the redhead’s features. Kylo put two and two together, easily. “NOT YOUR FIRST PILE OF BODIES THEN, I TAKE IT?“ Otherwise, she’d have been revolted. Indeed, perhaps they weren’t so different after all.
AT her snarky observation, Kylo turned his mask’s featureless gaze down towards the bodies. “NOT AT ALL. THEY DESERVED IT. HAD I RELENTED IN MY... SELF-DEFENSE, THESE MEN WOULD HAVE SIMPLY WALKED AWAY TO TERRORIZE SOME OTHER POOR SOD ANOTHER DAY.” Kylo turned to Natasha once more. “AN OPINION WE SEEM TO SHARE. OR AM I BEING TOO PRESUMPTUOUS?”
