Sometimes a game creates an icon for generations to cherish and sometimes it gets a legend due to whom the game itself gets inspired and people find a new god to bow down to.

Today marks the 24th anniversary of Sachin’s Test debut and on this day we at Technothlon proudly pay a tribute to this legend in our very own way. We bring you all a special question about cricket on this auspicious day.

We present Techno Coup D’œil Special Edition - SE001

An India-Pakistan test match is going on. The legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar and Venkatesh Prasad are batting. The match is right at its climax where India needs 1 run to win and it is the last ball of the match. Waqar Younis is bowling the last ball and Sachin is on strike. It is a clash of the legends. Waqar is bowling over the wicket. He is hiding the seam of the ball so that the batsman isn’t able to predict the swing of the ball. So Sachin has three options now that the ball will be an outswinger, a straight ball or an inswinger and all are equally probable. Due to intense pressure, Sachin decides to play a pre-meditated shot. He decides that he will play for an outswinger. While Waqar’s run up, he charges in such a way that Sachin with his great instincts is able to predict that the ball cannot be an inswinger. Assuming his instincts are correct Sachin has two options now that is either to stick with his decision or rather play for a straight ball. Choosing which option gives him better chances of having a correct pre-meditated shot and why?
