MARCH 2022 PROMPT - HELLFIRE AND DAMNATION

POSTING DATES March 15th - 19th

As the winner of January’s challenge, @caffeinaships​ gets to choose the theme for March, and has chosen Hellfire and Damnation. Since Coldest Hits is creeping up on 666 posted works, Caffeina would like us to write stories set in Hell. Everything else is up to you, your story just has to primarily take place in Hell (and no, Needham Asylum where Crowley had his throne room is not Hell.)

@staff @support I say this as respecfully as possible, but there need to be more options for reporting Russia-related disinformation and propaganda than just "election interference" stuff.

I've seen a number of accounts posting pro-Russian and anti-Ukraine disinformation during the ongoing war, but don't see any real way to report it. These posts would normally be disgusting, offensive, and some of them I've seen, anti-Semitic. But this is war.

And I believe that all of us who can't volunteer to fight should at least be willing to do our part in the online war of information.

Ways to support Ukraine 🇺🇦

More than 500,000 people have already left Ukraine due to the invasion by the Russian Federation. The European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management estimates that roughly 18 million Ukrainians will be affected by the conflict in humanitarian terms, with 7 million internally displaced and 4 million seeking refuge elsewhere. To help those still in Ukraine, as well as Ukrainian refugees, we’ve compiled this list of resources.

HelpUkraineWin.org has a collection of vetted and trusted resources, charities, and organizations to help Ukraine.

Some additional ways to donate:

Vostok SOS provides immediate evacuation support.

Malteser International provides essentials for Ukrainian refugees.

Ukraine Crisis Media Center provides fundraising links and a list of tips for sharing information.

Misinformation spreads fast on social media. It is more important than ever to share accurate, verifiable news and information. Here are some resources to learn how to identify misinformation:

To all my friends and comrades that are afraid of the news of Russia’s nuclear missile shuffling, and threats of their use, I can assure you this is a bullying tactic of threats and sabre rattling.

I have had several people, in person, tell me they are genuinely afraid of something like this for the first time in their lives. And I told them the same thing.

Putin wants you to be afraid. He wants you to be crippled with the thought of retaliation and doom occupying your mind and preventing you from doing the right thing, the just thing of supporting and defending Ukraine and its people.

These are empty threats. Putin has nothing to gain and everything to lose from their use. He will not deploy the most destructive force on this planet over involvement in what he sees to be an opportunistic land grab.

The only thing you have to be afraid of is caving in to the empty threats of a desperate, frightened man who for the first time in a long while is facing opposition to his imperialism.

It's good to remember this. In Poland and Ukraine there are friends and family I hold dear. I struggle with it but also have blood pressure issues. I have to remind myself it's okay to turn off the TV for a while and finish a chore, pick up my child from school, or even just read a book. It does not improve anything to let one's health suffer while feeling helpless on top of that. Best to take care of myself for when it's announced there IS SOMETHING I CAN DO.

Anxiety is not activism.
