Oh yeah, if anyone really wants to contribute to the tournament during the times when we're still in the Portrait Zone, we could really use arena events! To add variety to the place, so we aren't just seeing the same handful of events over and over again - and to add some Rain World flavoring, if you care to do so! Present tense preferred, but we'll convert anything that doesn't fit the format manually, since we're already gonna tinker with the events.
Below the cut we've copy-pasted the format it's stored in in the generator itself, as well as the formatting guide, but again - you don't necessarily have to stick to the syntax, since we'll be editing these anyways.
When making an event, make sure to add (Player#) where a player’s name goes.
All 5 gender types are now supported in the simulator. This includes the previous male and female, along with a non-binary gender, a neuter gender that could be used for inanimate objects, and a 'pair' gender if you include multiple characters competing as one. The event structure text was updated, but older event text is still supported. The newer genders will simply use the last gender text on the list if not included in the event description text.
The supported format is (male/female/non-binary/neuter/plural#) word so for example (he/she/they/it/they1).
If just singular males and females are used, (he/she1) will work. Additional genders will use 'she' since it's last on the list.
There are presets for collections of certain words. More could be added if requested.
[TypeA#] refers to (He/She/They/It/They#) [TypeB#] refers to (Him/Her/Them/It/Them#) [TypeC#] refers to (His/Her/Their/Its/Their#) [TypeD#] refers to (Himself/Herself/Themself/Itself/Themselves#)
To start these types with lowercase letters, use a lowercase t for type.
New Relationship Groups
The : ("is") symbol, followed by a number, marks that the player is allied with EVERY other player with that number.
The ! ("is not") symbol, followed by a number, marks that the player is NOT allied with ANY other player with that number.
The + ("joins") symbol, followed by a number, marks that the player is now allied with EVERY other player with that number.
The - ("leaves") symbol, followed by a number, marks that the player is no longer allied with ANY other player with that number.
The numbers symbolize "groups" of tributes who like each other. Tributes can be in multiple groups.Multiple of these symbol can be added to a player to model more complex relationships.If a Player relationship is already specified, it does not have to be written again.
Additionally, you can use the above 4 symbols followed by P# to describe the relationships between individual players, rather than groups. A non-mutual relationship where players feel differently about one another is possible.
The following example shows Player1 and Player2 in group #1 working against Player3, who is not in group #1:
(Player1:1) and (Player2:1) work together to drown (Player3!1).
The following example shows Player1 likes Player2, but Player2 dislikes Player1:
(Player1:P1) likes (Player2!P1), but the feeling is not mutual.
The following example shows two enemies deciding to work together:
(Player1:1+1) and (Player2!1+1) put aside their differences and decide to work together.
If you have a player simultaneously allied and against another player in your event groups, the error will be shown on the Manage Events page, and the relationship groups will be ignored for that event.

Six out of twelve death portraits for this round DONE! Halfway there, finally! We know that this has been a long time coming. Trust us, the delay's more of a pain to us than anyone else, but we're getting those OCs out of unportraited purgatory!

It might be appreciated, sure! We are... tragically of both the state where we're hitting a bit of Fatigue and the state where we remember social media exists maybe once every few days, so that's slowing pace... a bit, especially in the parts you see. We've got a solid third of the current batch of death portraits finished and another third sketched, it's just about stamina and remembering to do things like posting "hi we're alive".

UPDATE: ...longer gap than expected. Took a break from most of the internet for a few days. We will likely be back at it either by September 12, 2023 or a few days later - we are encountering technical issues IRL, again, which has put a teensy bit of stress on our ability to do just about anything.
Technically, they're the exact same technical difficulties we've been experiencing for years, but they haven't really stopped being difficulties nor stopped being a pain to deal with, so we're kind of stuck here since it's the sort of thing that we need to wrangle with other people's schedules to handle. It will be a pain in the ass.
We apologize for the inconvenience and persistent delays. If it's any condolences, it's also inconveniencing us.

Status update: Still hot out. We're surviving, if barely. Finishing this batch's death portraits, which means a bit of a delay - we'll be back into the live portraits soon, and we've only got four canon characters to illustrate before we get into the graciously-submitted OCS! Might drag a bit, but we're Getting Shit Done, and we'll get back to more visible stuff soon. We've skipped a few characters to get from iterators to slugcats for a bit, since it's simply easier to do death portraits for slugcat designs, but we'll loop back to the iterators soon enough. Trust us - progress is being made!

Status Update: still alive! We have played Slug D&D and unfortunately this has also inflicted us with the rare ship we actually ship, which is also a rarepair rare enough that no one else in this fandom has ever even pitched it to our knowledge. This may affect productivity because our fake game roleplaying has inflicted us with Emotions and our terribly slow art rate may be redirected to that temporarily. Whoops!

Status update: We are still alive! It is still hot, unfortunately, and so we have been sadly unproductive. Hopefully global warming pulls the brakes before we actually die! Anyways, we've sketched death portraits and are now gonna lie around trying to find the motivation to actually paint those fuckers, then we'll move on to the next page (or maybe we'll move on to the next page sooner). We'll see!

STATUS UPDATE: The sun burns above and sends us to a thousand burning deaths. We are like 90% sure that we'll get heat exhaustion within the minute if we leave the house. We are also like 50% sure we've already gotten heat exhaustion at least once staying at home, because this heat is unbearable and the closest thing we have to air conditioning is a fridge.

This trivia is correct & true. There was also a day where the only person who died was The Survivor. They did not survive, sadly.
Fun fact of the day: before setting this blog up, we actually ran something in the vanilla version of the sim with our D&D party! It, uhh, went.

Quick sketch I did and I'm actually pretty proud! This is my first time drawing a scavenger and a vulture, and in an action scene at that.

Status Update: Nothing to report! We've got a holiday to celebrate today so we probably just won't be working on things during the day, but we've got a handful of new arena events to implement in the evening courtesy of @thetroupemaster and, uhh... guy whose Tumblr account we don't know but whomst goes by Erratic Pulse on Discord. You will likely be seeing those killing your characters in horrible ways later! For now, it's just vibing.
