Petra gave him a nod, her eyes darting to the ground when he gave her the gentle push to lead her from the building. She felt the odd, overwhelming guilt towards the situation. As if, if she told someone what was going on, then it would just be proof that her father was right about her not being able to handle herself. But she knew this thinking and illogical. Levi wasn’t her father, he was her friend, and this situation was starting to get out of hand. She needed an opinion on it, even if it felt like admitting defeated.

“Oh, thank you.. Here, I’ll pull up my gps..”she got into the car first before letting her shaky hands fiddle with the phone. She appreciated his understanding and gave him a nod. She stayed silent for a long moment, listening to the digital voice giving out directions. She finally took a deep breath, mentally scolding herself to stay together.

“There’s this man. He’s another student in my academy. He had been really persistent in getting a date with me, even though I told him time and time again that I had no interest. Some how he got my number and started to send me really disturbing text messages. I threatened to report him, and the messages stopped for a couple days, but--” she swallowed. “He’s clearly taken to following me now.”

When Levi looked back at Petra after she had noticed the presence dissapearing, he could see the increased panic and fear in her eyes. He wasn’t sure what was going on exactly, but he had a good feeling that whoever that figure was, Petra must have known who it was. 

“Of course. I’ll take you home,” Levi offered. He gently placed a hand on Petra’s back to walk away with her, keeping an eye on their surroundings as they walked in order to make sure they weren’t followed by the figure. He remained silent and kept the woman clos to him as they walked. Once they got to his car, he opened the door for her before he also got in and locked the doors. 

“If you tell me where you live, I will drive you there,” Levi offered. He started up his car and drove away, waiting for the woman to begin talking if she wanted to. “You don’t have to talk about it right now if you don’t want to,” Levi said. “Just focus on calming down for now.”

Levi’s tone made her stomach tense, because she copuld tell that he didn’t believe what she’d said to him. She wasn’t surprised, she was practically shaking and she had lied. She felt guilty, but then again, there came another level of guilt to telling him the situation. She felt like she wanted to sink away. 

“Oh.. Well..” She started to explain to him, when she saw the figure in the corner of her eye. She knew it was him, there was no way it was someone else. She looked a bit pale as she stepped closer to the man in front of her.

“..Can we hurry and get out of her?” her voice felt small, have almost trembled if she didn’t pull herself together. She looked up at him with a desperate look. “Please.. I’ll explain to you once we get away from here..”

Levi furrowed his eyebrows as the woman talked, obviously trying to cover up the anxiety in her voice. The man, however, was very familiar with such methods. Isabel had tried to do the same countless of times to cover up her fears with pretend bravery. They weren’t fooling him anymore. 

“Are you sure?” Levi asked sternly. “Because you don’t sound fine at all.” He looked at Petra closely, trying to read her expression. The fear was still very visible in her eyes, despite the smile she had put up. “I was just walking back home from-” 

Levi didn’t finish his sentence when he saw someone dissapearing behind the corner of the building. He hadn’t noticed the presence, but the sudden movement caught his attention and he became suspicious.

It took the woman a moment to realize who it was, her face going a bit white. Of course, it had to be him who stumbled upon her in such a frazzled mood. She wondered exactly how out of it she must have looked, quickly she regained her posture and pushed a smile on her face.

“Ha..Ha, Levi! What are the odds of running into you out of all people? How have you been?” She asked him, her tone doing it’s best to cover the fact that he heart felt like it was going to jump right out of her chest, giving away how spooked she really was. When she was asked if she was okay, there was a split second where she debated telling him the truth. But that was quickly pushed down by the desire to not come off as weak and fear.

“I’m fine, you just startled me, is all. It’s pretty dark out here.” She rubbed her neck gently, glancing around them to try and determined if her awful peer was hiding around them. 

“What are you doing out so late?”

Levi was walking with his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket, and a cigarette between his teeth. He was just walking back home after having been over at Farlan’s place to babysit Lotus while he had to be in the studio the entire evening. He could still smell baby powder on his hand as he took his cigarette between his index and middle finger. At least it wasn’t a dirty smell. Levi never thought he’d ever be so close to a baby. He usually found them extremely annoying. They cried, screemed, pissed and pooped whenever they pleased and would throw up occasionally as well. But Lotus was already so special to him, he truly felt like her uncle. 

He turned left in the street where the local police station was located. Despite having left his criminal behind him long ago, he still felt uncomfortable around police officers and stations. But that was mainly because he didn’t have good experiences with them. After one final drag, he threw his cigarette onto the pavement and shoved both his hands in his pockets again. The chilly weather was very present right now and summer had very obviously ended. Autumn was here. 

When he passed the entrance of the police station, however, he was surprised when someone bumped into him rather frantically. A feminine scream was heard before silence fell, and Levi looked at the woman in surprise. Her eyes were open widely and they looked up at him like a deer caught in the headlights. As he looked back at the woman, he began to realize who she was. “Petra?” he asked surprisedly. He could tell that she was quite on edge and appeared to be in shock. “Are you alright?” he asked after hearing her voice.

💘 - A Love Interest

“Love interest, what a strong word.. I don’t think I have time to form a bond like that, ahaha, at least not yet. I guess.. There is this one man that had caught my eyes, against my own better judgement. I’m going to be terribly vague, of course. I just find him to be.. very admirable. Well put together. Extremely clever and captivating in his own way. I would never say something to him though, like I mentioned, there’s never enough time and it would be inappropriate as well. I wouldn’t label him as my “love interest”. Maybe just a friend who is intriguing?”
