Just to clarify I wouldn't be team Gale in this alternate reality I'd just be team Katniss being free to be herself without the pressure of the capitol. From what I know from the spoilers I consumed Gale sucks in general, I don't think this should change if he was a woman. This ain't about him.

I'm reading Hunger Games for the first time and I have a really bad and probably unpopular take: I would enjoy the whole Peeta x Katniss x Gale a lot more if Gale was a woman and the drama were about Katniss being a lesbian instead of her being absolutely torn between the devil you know and literal angel boy. I'm not judging the book btw, I'm aware it's really good and everything has meaning, and so far (Im in book 2 heavily spoiled version) Gale's just a little annoying to me not even that bad a love interest. In fact if she made Katniss a lesbian it may even take meaning away idk i'm not a writer I'm just a gay and I personally roll my eyes whenever the love triangle is involved.
