Wakfu The Great Wave : Chapter 20
What in the cliffhanger was that thing?!!!
Beware of spoilers and ranting
Chapter 20 was 90% filler and 10% cliffhanger.
At this point, I'm glad those two haters are back because the slow pace was getting to me.
I did the mistake of reading Chapter 20 first thing in the morning and I was NOT OKAY !
How am I supposed to wait until the next chapter ? Especially after seeing the queens of Bonta (one of which is Yugo's biggest hater after Oropo) and those Osamodas royals acting all chummy like this father-daughter duo from hell didn't try to overthrow my darling Amalia. Why are these two never in the Osamodas kingdom ? At this point, it's no longer Yumalia adventuring (honeymooning) away from their kingdom but every sovereign who would rather be an overstaying guest in another country than do their job back home ! I bet those opportunists didn't waste a second to complain about Amalia and Yugo to the Bontarian queens and their court of sycophantic snobs.
Call me petty but, I won't shed a tear over whatever will happen to them at the end of The Great Wave.
Hopefully, Volume 3 will focus on the main plot or, at least, give a proper conclusion to the side plot with the Osamodas in-laws. However, I'm not looking forward to Yugo and Amalia getting continuously denied, dissed, dismissed and disrespected.
I can't believe I'm saying that but... that Stalker demi-god Harebourg was onto something with his idea of autarky.

The Sadida kingdom has been looked down upon for years. Its monarchs have been denied assistance and even basic courtesy, time and time again, from King Oakheart to Queen Amalia.
Much like Sufokia did back in the day, it is high time the Sadida-Eliatrope kingdom starts looking for number one ! The new leaders, Amalia and Yugo, must accept that they have no allies and act accordingly.
One day, the Sadida-Eliatrope kingdom will stand up for itself :

Yumalia ? I'm very normal about them.
Chapter 19 was a Yumalia chapter so it was elite by definition.
How cute can they be? It was such a sweet moment! The slight apprehension from Yugo speaking about his wish for their future, the pure joy in Amalia's eyes, the blushes, the kiss. Cynthia Leman ate, I fear!
After surviving on scraps for so long, Yumalia fans are finally eating good tonight ! 💙💚💙💚
I will write something longer later, but for now, I just want to be a fangirl.

Wakfu The Geat Wave : Chapter 18
Spoilers ahead.
Seriously, look at what Rasalar and Julith did to my boy ! Yugo looks like death warmed over.
I'll never forgive them. Just like I'll never forgive the writers for what they did to Amalia and Eva from Season 3 onward ! On my boy Armand, I'll never forgive, I'll never forget !
I'm saying all this but you know I'm collecting those Yumalia crumbs like the precious gems they are! 💙💚💙💚
In this chapter, Joris and his two unexpected guests reach the library. The view is breathtaking. So many details were put into drawing those few panels. It feels like a world in and out of itself and it's alive !
The bat-books were a nice touch and so was this little book!

Joris looks so proud to show off his secret archive. I love how expressive he is in this comic. The last few Seasons of Wakfu left no place for a more nuanced Joris. It is nice to see him showing more of his personality instead of the eternal "austere guy on a mission".
Oh, no...

I know where this is going and I don't like it!

[that scene from Wakfu Season 3]
No fanservice, I'm begging you !!
Breath in "ecchi fanservice hater" : Thank Sadida! Crisis adverted ! Nobody got stuck or-
Come on, Amy! You guys are trying to save the world!
😂😂 Amalia is so unserious! I love her! Wait...Maybe Yugo's wet dream wasn't exaggerating about Amalia's "big appetite" (see Ch1). Ok, I'll see myself out.
Anyway, the trio has now entered Joris' man cave. Most importantly, who is this lovely woman in the portrait? She looks like a Cra. Since this is Joris' secret room, she might have been important to him and/or had an impact on Joris' life, for her to be there alongside a portrait of Grougalorasalar.
Even Khan Karkass, the star gobbowl player from Joris' youth, is there as a small statue.

Time for a walk down memory lane with Master Joris Jorgen. Amalia and Yugo finally unlocked Joris' tragic backstory. It only took them almost 10 years and 3 averted apocalypses.
With Joris growing his found family, revealing his origins and being so expressive, it feels like he is raising death flags left and right. I'm scared for him.
I know Joris appears in Waven but I don't wish him more trauma or grief, especially with his undead mom and Rasalar causing trouble.
By the way, idc about that Asalar nonsense! Let it be known that, in this house, Grougalorasalar is and always will be Rasalar the Mewing Reptile! 🗿🦎
All in all, chapter 18 was a good bridge to the main plot. The small moments of levity didn't feel too forced. The new "universe" (the library) deserved the awe from both the characters and the readers. For a few panels, I was sent back to the time Wakfu the animated series was introducing new places filled with wonders and adventures for the heroes and the viewers to enjoy.
Joris' origins are finally out in the open. It was long overdue, given that the Brotherhood had to deal with the Primordial dragons back during the Special episodes "The Quest for the Six Dofus Eliatropes".
The chapter was nice but there is nothing to learn from it, except for people who are totally new to the fandom, of course.
The lore from both Dofus and Wakfu, even with its conflicted information and many retconnings, already told of Joris' peculiar life, his link with the Ebony Dofus and its dragon, as well as the stories about the Primordial dragons, including Grougalorasalar. This chapter felt like a repeat on this regard.
Hopefully, Joris will soon give his friends more intel on their new foes and how to defeat them because time is running out : Rasalar's ultimatum draws near.
Chapter 19 will be out on 14 March 2025.

WAKFU The Great Wave : Chapter 17
Me after reading Ch 17 because it was so short!
Chapter 17 is a good transition from the intensity of Joris' (re)introduction and the long-term pacing that goes with the Dragon plot.
As predicted, Yugo and Amalia came to their old friend for intel on Rasalar the Black Dragon.
I'm glad there is continuity in the writing, by having Yugo still struggling with the aftermath of the poisoning.
It's a sharp reminder that, even with OP powers, new weaponry and a cool supersuit...
... Yugo is far from invincible.
I'm looking forward to an epic fight between Rasalar's team and whoever will join Yugo's side in the story. Hopefully, there will be no "power of friendship" or deus ex machina just for a convenient power-up.
In the present chapter, there are some light moments with Joris' kids, the old and the new. Papys Atcham and Kerumbim will have their hands full. Nothing more was said about the Old Walrus who abused the Ouginak children but I'm glad those kids got a happy end.
As usual, Luis is doing the most! It's nice to have another Shushu back in the story.
After Wakfu Season 2, Shushus have been on the back burner in the animated series, except for Rubilax -- and even he didn't have much to do as a character, aside from giving one-liners and bantering with Pinpin. At least, The Great Wave kept the Wakfu comic tradition of having interesting Shushus on deck.
I still miss Adamaï's Shushu, the fiery Kerosho, and even Grufon, that annoying Shushu map Yugo had a contract with. Those two were such a great team in the Wakfu comics.

Me when Luis made the food appear
Hogwarts being a Shushu house confirmed!

Once all the fluff is over, the chapter dives back into the main plot with Joris guiding Amalia and Yugo to the library. And that's all she wrote.
All in all, Chapter 17 was relatively short but, given its nature as a transition chapter, it was solid with nice pacing, and interesting visuals that make the setting feel "alive and lived in".
Chapter 18 will be available on 7th March 2025.

Wakfu The Great Wave : Chapter 16
Beware of spoilers and mentions of child abuse/mutilation.
Chapter 16 starts with Lilotte's lookalike. I call her Linot, but she was introduced as #13 in this chapter. Here she is, presenting the stolen jewel to the ringleader of her group.
The old Ouginak, who looks like a walrus and must smell like one too, berates the kid for getting caught when she was stealing the ring.
Walrus guy, colourised :

This is when his cruelty is displayed for the majority of this short chapter. Walrus forces the starving urchins he "took under his care" to steal for him, and doesn't hesitate to beat and mutilate them as punishment. Several children are shown with scars and missing limbs and eyes.
You don't need a business degree to understand that thieves and pickpockets need those body parts for their questionable activities. How is butchering those kids going to make them more efficient or Walrus any richer? The only way would be if the kids were to beg in the streets, once they are too maimed to steal. Awful business model, terrible, in the long run, BUT at least it would make more sense than this blind violence. Oh well, trash will trash.
There might be no justice irl, but there is some in Wakfu!
While the wretched walrus was waving that blade and yelling like a chihuahua, a lone hero appeared. HIM !

Obviously, Joris was ready to save the day and clean up the trash (off-screen).
That panel with Walrus hearing the boss music was chef's kiss!
After dealing with Walrus, Joris then guided the children to his shop. It was so sad seeing them walk among the population. Some of the kids were looking around anxiously, making themselves small, etc.
Me, when Little #27 called Joris "master" and my boy immediately shut that down because there was no way Joris Jurgen, first of his name, was EVER going to be associated with that child abuser or let those kids think for a second that they'd ever have to fear him. You drop this, King 👑
...only to remember his title is literally "Master Joris" (Maître Joris, in the French version).
I know it's not the same, but it's still a bit funny if not ironic, especially with how Joris turned up in Waven.
Well, this looks like the beginning of found family wholesomeness with Little #27 hero-worshipping Joris and #13 (Linot) looking ready to take on the world! So much hope!
...until Tot and co remind everyone this webtoon is rated MA for "Mostly Angst".
Here come Yugo and my beloved Amalia, ominously sitting in the dark like some emo kids. One Adamai is one emo too many.

That accidental eyeliner carried Season 4! 🤣
Look at Yugo! Those bags under his eyes look so deep Amalia's closet could fit in them. That belladonna poison really did a number on him.
Random, but tell me why Yugo looked a bit like :

I don't think Yugo is angry or suspicious of Joris, his long-time ally. Instead, I believe the Eliatrope went to his friend for intel on Rasalar and possibly to brainstorm how to bypass the dragon's ultimatum with the person who knows this new enemy the best : Joris.
Indeed, Joris was the guardian of the Ebony Dofus with Rasalar possessing his body since infancy. Their "partnership" lasted for a while before the two separated. According to the lore, it was because their visions no longer aligned, but the webtoon has yet to mention this bit.
On a side note, Wakfu is really light on the nobility protocol thing.
This mission is a delicate matter, maybe even a State secret now, but why didn't the only two acting royals of the Sadida and Eliatrope kingdom(s) stay home and discreetly call for Joris instead ? Yumalia is out there all the time like their kingdom is not on fire !
There are still some pressing issues outside a mewing reptile threatening bodily harm. What of the aftermath of a king getting poisoned during a mixed wedding? What happened with a queen who fought against and kicked out a foreign monarch and the consort of late King Armand (allegedly pregnant with an heir to the Sadida throne)? What of the growing tensions between the cohabiting Sadidas and Eliatropes?
Don't Yugo and Amalia have anyone trustworthy and useful among their people? An envoy to contact Joris? Anyone but two high-profile royals coming incognito (I hope it was incognito) to a small shop in Bonta, the City whose queen was extremely wary of anything Eliatrope ?
What about Adamaï? Did he leave to find help elsewhere? I hope he didn't just hop and leave after chapter 13 like...
That why I really wished Amalia had more ties to her kingdom. Apart from her now dead family and those two eunuchs, Amalia doesn't seem to have anyone close to her. A Sadida princess with only one friend, a Cra who used to be a bodyguard and now lives peacefully far away from the Sadida kingdom ? So many people, yet there's no other noble or commoner to befriend apart from Evangeline ? Even during the years they were apart? I know the whole "it's lonely at the top" but come on!
Yugo is no better, but he has the excuse of not being among his people for most of his life.
*Sigh* I have never seen (fictional) key political figures doing so much to get out of their kingdom. It's not even funny any more! It feels like Amalia and Yugo are doing everything but rule their kingdom.
Seriously, it's great that Wakfu is not really a typical political fiction, because Yumalia would have been out of a crown with a quickness with all their mess 🤣
The chapter concludes with the dark look on Yugo's face as more key players enter the fray.
Next chapter will be out on 28th February, so stay tuned!

Wakfu the Great Wave : Chapter 15
Beware of spoilers (Wakfu, Dofus: Kerub's Bazaar, Dofus Book I: Julith).
By the way, the Kickstarter for WAKFU Season 5 is still ongoing!
As of today (14-02-2025), we already passed the milestone of 1,000,000 euros.
You can contribute to this project until Wednesday, 12th March 2025 by clicking HERE or http://kck.st/41aL7R8
This chapter was wild !
Loved how Ms. Tetsudo, the old Osamoda lady, looks like a Koopa Turtle, from her surname to her design.

Tetsudo are a genus of tortoises
The dynamic between the demigod siblings, Atcham and Kerubim, and their filial bond with Joris were both so nice to see again. Very heartwarming! Those old cats really acted like teenagers trying to escape their chores. Poor Joris is deep in his "exhausted single parent with 3 jobs" era. Thank goodness for Luis! The Shushu house might the only one helping Joris run the shop.

Now, that madness with Lilotte's lookalike was uncalled for! Not the dead best friend! The utter shock on Joris' face was simply devastating.

Look at them! Innocence and happiness all over. The best friends in the whole World of Twelve! I sure hope nothing bad happens to them 👀
Tbh, I thought the girl's appearance was a trick, an illusion, from that hooligan Rasalar to get Joris alone so they would "talk".
Instead, "not!Lilotte" (Li-not? Okay, Linot it is!) seemed to be a random street urchin who just so happened to resemble the late Lilotte, down to the sad backstory.
It's interesting to see the underbelly of the "Bonta, the Divine City". I'm a bit weirded out by the fact that these children are all Ouginaks. Who was the mysterious person examining the stolen jewellery in the shadows? They look like an old Ecaflip, but I could be wrong. Regardless, they're shady as hell, making starving kids steal for them.
Will Joris find the underground hideout? Will he confront the ringleader? Will Linot become Joris' third adopted child? I guess we'll see.
Chapter 16 will be out on Friday, 21st February 2025.

Wakfu The Great Wave - Chapter 14
Beware of spoilers and heavy fangirling.
.
.
.
Dathura !
Her chara-design still catches me off guard, even after two animated seasons. Her appearance changed so much between the various comics, the OAV about Ogrest, Wakfu (the animation & webtoon). All the versions are gorgeous, but I have a soft spot for the Wakfu one, even if I still miss the leaves on her head.
Those leaves were one of the rare traits all the Divine Dolls shared. It also acted as a reminder of their raison d'être. They were 10 "pin-up girls" created for the sole purpose of seducing Dragons so they'd lay more Dofus. Dathura was one of the six Divine Dolls who successfully wooed their designated dragon and got them to lay a Dofus (Aguabrial; first Turquoise Dofus).
However, this Season 3 design has so many aspects that show her nature as a Divine Doll.
The sutured mouth corners reminded me of the Kuchisake-Onna from that Japanese urban legend. Her eyes are different in design compared to "organic" characters. Her skin is more like the woven fabric used to make rag dolls rather than wood or actual skin, which is a nice detail.
The scene with Dathura being connected to that tree felt like a mix of medieval fantasy and Steam-punk robot, especially when she "detached" herself from the tree. Absolute chef's kiss!
Dathura's mini-doll form is super cute with an almost heartwarming simplicity. It's quite refreshing compared to her intricate humanoid form. Seeing her transform made me miss Amalia's doll from earlier seasons.
Seriously, what happened to it?! I guess it went wherever Amalia's strange connection to the Tree of Life is. *saltier than the Dead Sea*.
It was such a missed opportunity not to have TOL in that final battle back in Season 4. Bring back TOL x Amalia, please! 🙏🙏🙏
Chapter 14 began with Queen Amalia asking Dathura for help to relieve Yugo of the pain of the poison.
Baby girl asking for a favour, looking like 🥺. I'm so weak against cuteness! She'd have asked for all the Dofus in this world, an arm and all my savings, I would have given everything without question and even thanked her for it. No wonder Yugo was so down bad for my girl: he stood no chance against that face 🥺 #AmaliaStan.
I just wished that, when Tot finally put Amalia as an attractive young lady (Wakfu OAV onward), it wasn't for my darling to become the obsession of not one but TWO overpowered yandere stalkers with a thing for blue cloaks and masks. #Justice4Amalia 😭
- Totally not hypocritical disclaimer - Any resemblance to Yugo's blue-theme clothes, his very legitimate need to hide under his hat 24/7 (until season 4, then he switched to a full cloak) or his being an overpowered god-like character is purely coincidental!
I loved the conversation between Amalia and Dathura in this chapter. It shows they have come to see each other as friends over time, even if it was built offscreen, unfortunately. Maybe Wakfu Season 5 will elaborate on that?
The passage about how certain places are shy and can only be seen by those who truly wish to see them gave me a similar feeling from that quote by Saint-Exupéry.

Or it could just be me still fixated on my headcanon about Yugo and Amalia being a happier version of the little prince and his rose. Sigh, I really thought I had won when Season 4 came out and those two got their happily ever after...only to get drop-kicked with the angst and drama from the webtoon. I guess this is me now : 🤡
Also, it's disappointing that Grougalorasalar's diminutive is NOT Rasalar but "Asalar". Like, what do you mean? I'm not going to call Grougaloragran some Agran nonsense! I understand it might be to avoid writing such long name and also to separate the two black dragons from each other in the reader's mind but... really? Asalar? Nah, I'll keep calling him Rasalar the mewing reptile, thank you very much.
According to Amalia, Yugo is still down with a bad case of poisoning, but his plot armour is still strong. Amalia and co will nurse him back to health, no worries! Soon, he'll be fine enough to save the world... or to destroy it...or to destroy it while trying to save it. You know the drill !

Oh, and still no word from those horrid Osamodas. I can't say I miss the father-daughter duo, but I also can't believe they really left without a fuss. If that's the case, this is underwhelming. What happened in the direct aftermath of the royal battle? What did the people say or do regarding the whole thing? About Amalia's fight against the (allegedly) pregnant consort of their late king and the departure of the two royal plagues? Hopefully, the next chapters will at least mention that subplot.
In other, better, happier news, my boy Joris will certainly make an appearance in the next few chapters now that his late mother and his former soul parasite (Rasalar) are back in the picture. I cannot wait to see him!

The kickstarter teaser only revealed ICE AND CLOCKS, guys!
AND GUESS WHO HAS ICE AND CLOCKS!?!?
instagram
In an old interview, an ankama worker explained that the villain for the fifth season will be a villain that we already know, but at the same time don't.
THAT MEANS WE ALREADY KNOW THE VILLAIN BUT HE'S GOING TO CHANGE SOMEHOW ‼️‼️
It makes so much sense that it's Harebourg. It would explain why he's one of the people giving you missions in Waven with some others who survived the wave.
It would also explain why the kickstarter sneak peek is ice-themed!
And it would also make sense why Grougalorasalar, in chapter 11, mentioned that fighting Harebourg had been the wrong thing to do.
OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE HE'S HERE ‼️‼️‼️
Harebourg will finally fulfill our long-held dream of playing a significant role as the antagonist instead of simply being a boss who only appears in one episode!
THIS IS GONNA BE SO COOL!! AND SEEING HIM IN 26 EPISODES!? SIGN ME TF UP!!
If you're interested in supporting the kickstarter, it'll come out on February 12th. Check their kickstarter here! 👇

WAKFU THE GREAT WAVE - Chapter 13
Beware of spoilers, bad editing and overuse of gif.
.
.
.
Oh, look another glowing McGuffin!
Are these the other Primordial Dragons? One of them looked like Terrakourial. Are they trapped, or something? Healing? In cryo-sleep?
Anyway, is this my boy standing in front of the light orb?!

It's him! It's DARDONDAKAL! Let's goooooooo *inhuman screeching!* Look at him! Look at my beautiful bat boy! So fluffy, even in his humanoid form! So majestic! 🙏
Giant Bat attacks Elite Goth Queen => Gets wrecked in 0.5 seconds.
Julith is so perfect! The close-up with her blades was amazing! If this webtoon gets animated, I might ascend thanks to all those great scenes.
Me after hyping up Little Dardar only to watch him lose miserably:
Petit Lardon 🥓 over there really thought he was cooking. Now, look what happens when you rush into things without thinking! All those years, all this knowledge, still no wisdom. smh. How can you call yourself a dragon and lose to a freshly resurrected corpse with no Dofus? And he didn't even land one hit! Embarrassing!
Rasalar helping up Dardar, while Julith is chilling with her blades (left), colourised :
Not only is Dardondakal weak, but he is also loudly self-righteous ?! Why is he talking so high and mighty like he didn't just get folded two seconds ago? Boy is still shaking like a newborn kitten! Reminds me of Adamaï with him losing like a wimp in Season 4. Seriously, all those Primordial Dragons are an embarrassment so far. I can't with these siblings!
I have to say it again: my bae Julith is so fierce! Almost worth the human sacrifices, almost.
Dardar is an embarrassment, but he is morally correct: murdering who knows how many people is wrong no matter what his sibling is saying. However, it does fit the personality and mindset of Grougalorasalar, one of the dragons considered to be "evil incarnate".
This makes the whole "let's save the world from the Eliatropes" plan even weirder because how are the readers supposed to believe Rasalar of all people is trying to save the world?
Pretty sure I've mentioned it in a previous post, but why would "Evil" care if the world is in danger? Wouldn't it mean more death and destruction to enjoy? Didn't Rasalar give his son Crocoburio a magical sword to help him conquer the world? In the webtoon, it doesn't look like Rasalar wants to save the world only to conquer it afterwards (so far). So, I really don't understand his reasoning.
The discrepancy between Rasalar's canonical nature (lore, games...) and his current actions (webtoon) is actually the main reason I was initially doubtful the one behind Yugo's nightmares was Rasalar - or the Great Dragon for that matter. The lore says "black dragons are usually evil". Rasalar is a black dragon and, in all media so far, he has acted as a villain. Now, the webtoon comes and makes him appear like some kind of antihero ready to save the world? ...'Kay.
Between the in-fighting, Julith looking like she is underpaid and overworked, Dardar being a wet kitten, and Rasalar saving the world with murder and extortion, I'm sure the Eliatrope artefacts will be much safer in their hands. Yes, it's the most sensible choice.
And that's it for now! This chapter felt shorter than it really was. However, it was a good way to take a breather after several action-packed chapters. What a great introduction to Dardondakal! The chapter helped establish the current dynamic between all three characters and even revealed a few things about Rasalar's plan and Dardar's possible reason for siding with his brother.
Chapter 14 will be out on 07.02.2025 on ALLSKREEN.

Wakfu The Great Wave - Chapter 12
Hic sunt dracones...
... and beware of spoilers, amphibians, Trypophobia and overuse of gif.
Me, watching some NPC blame Yugo & his people for the "sins of the Mother" for the nth time :
Grougalorasalar is so out of line in this chapter! Even that luscious hair and those defined abs don't blind me to his faults!
The audacity of Rasalar to imply those artefacts don't belong to Yugo, Adamaï and co. I'll admit that the Eliasphere and Eliacube are from the Mechasms (stolen, given, rented or whatever the current canon says) but the DOFUS ?! The Dofus Eliatropes are literally those kids' spawn points ! What are they supposed to do when their siblings are still incubating?
Here's your daily reminder that Yugo is living his best Explicit Married Life with his baby siblings stuck on his chest and at least two of them will remember all they could perceive from their Dofus once they're out... but who's judging?
Rasalar has no mercy. Everyone is catching strays today! Let Qilby rest in peace, he's back in his Dofus now. That reptile is so rude! Did he even know any other Dofus Eliatrope to talk about this family like that? I would have loved to see a verbal battle between Qilby and Rasalar. The sass would have been 📈📈
My, this dragon really said "I hate you and your entire bloodline" in 10k words or more. He had been preparing his diss track since Ogrest spat out his Dofus. You know Mewing Lizard was just waiting for Yugo to grow up just to trash him without being accused of bullying kids. Bro had so much resentment toward Yugo and the eliatropes, you'd think he'd taken lessons from Oropo, the poster boy for daddy issues. Is it Rasalar's Euphoria era or something? Was his name Lamar all along ?
In all fairness, it makes sense for a Twelvian to be so against the eliatropes being on the planet. These artefacts and some Eliatropes caused chaos all over the World of Twelve for centuries. Yugo's edgy alter ego had some involvement in Ogrest's Chaos and Nox's vain project to use the Eliacube. Then, there was the whole mess with the necromes and now, it's almost confirmed that Goddess Eliatrope had a hand in the death(?) of all the Twelvian gods. Not that they were much involved to begin with, apart from creating half-gods. How very Olympian of them!
I might get hate for this but, the Twelvian rulers were right to demand the Eliatropes and all their inventions leave the World of Twelve (Seasons 2 and 4).
The monarchs had more to lose keeping the Eliatropes on the planet. Ignoring the more peculiar concerns like where to put all those kids (back when there were thousands of them in S2), who would pay for all this and such, national security would have been the top argument to kick the Eliatropes out. The Twelvian Council had "proof" that the Eliatropes were a threat to the local population, and that was without knowing Oropo's origins and his involvement in Ogrest's Chaos. As rulers, they are accountable for the lives of thousands (current and future generations). Their duty would call for those rulers to deal with the problem asap. Because, if they didn't, the population would be sure to remind them of said duty (riots, vigilantism, civil unrest, coup...).
Apart from late King Oakheart, the monarchs had no deep involvement with the Eliatropes, no positive interaction not tainted by a bad first impression. All they knew was that their respective kingdoms were put in danger because some "wakfu-powered alien children" and their "long-lost, overbearing, self-righteous and possibly unstable" Goddess Mother had decided to crash-land there and open the door to the Necrome menace.
Since the Eliatropes cannot leave the planet without draining it of Wakfu (Season 2, Qilby), keeping the artefacts out of reach from both the Eliatropes themselves and the Twelvians would be the next best thing. It seems Rasalar might be justifying his actions with this thought.
HOWEVER, I disagree with the idea of giving away the Eliatrope collectables to Rasalar. So far, no one has proven worthy of properly using the Elia-artefacts or even keeping them safe.
On one hand, the Twelvians are easily manipulated or tempted into misusing any powerful artefact like they already did with the Primordial Dofus, the Eliacube or Shushu weapons (e.g. Nox, Ogrest, Toross on his planet, Pinpin and other Shushu Guardians). The Primordial Dragons and their Guardians would lose these items, like they often do with their own Dofus (Grougalorasalar & his siblings). Master Joris helped in hiding those treasures away (OAVs) but failed because of Oropo's brotherhood. Regardless, he is currently the ambassador of Bonta, whose queen dislikes Eliatropes. What would he do, should the Bonta queen and queen consort command him to hand over the items?
On the other hand, the Eliatropes, the rightful owners of most if not all these Eliatrope collectables, don't have the cleanest track record either. Qilby is out of commission for some time, but nothing says for sure he won't try to use the Eliacube again, even with his last-minute "redeeming arc". With some Eliatropes living among a population with mixed opinions about them, who is to say one of the Eliatropes won't turn into the next Qilby, Oropo or Bouillon in a few years or in a few generations?
Adamai seems to have good decision-making skills but most of it lies with his fear - fear of losing control, of making the wrong decision. He is so unsure that he'd rather not act because he also fears what Yugo would do with the powerful items (e.g. OAVs and Season 3).
Yugo is...Yugo. He has matured a lot since Season 1, but, he mostly thinks with his heart. From this, he would act on what he believes is right, while pushing aside the very real and often negative consequences of his choices and actions. He is a brave warrior and overall a kind person...but his very dichotomic view on right and wrong could make him a questionable ruler when political acumen is preferred over sheer might.
Right now, Yugo is still reeling from his confrontation with Oropo and the fight against the Necromes. With the tasks of caring for two kingdoms, maybe we'll see him make those hard decisions. However, as he is now, I cannot imagine Yugo not using the Eliasphere & Eliacube to try and "be a hero", if push comes to shove. The webtoon made that PG-13 plot armour disappear, opening the door to not only some Yumalia fun but potentially to explicit death and gore. This means that, in the webtoon, Yugo with his current mindset could try to "save everyone" only to fail miserably.
Yet, the webtoon has just begun. There is still time for some kind of evolution for his character development. Although, given the title "The Great Wave" and the state of the world in Waven, I'm not holding my breath.
As long as he doesn't end up alone on a planet destroyed by his own hubris, Yugo is good to go!

What I don't understand is…why now? It's been months (?) since the Battle against the necromes. Why does Rasalar want to talk, scheme and let out his grievances now that everything is relatively quiet? Is it because it took time to reunite all the Primordial Dofus? Was he spying on Yugo and the others to gauge their strength before attacking? Was he on his training arc to master the Primordial Dofus before confronting the Eliatrope twins?
Rasalar demanding those Eliatrope limited edition items be like
The audacity of this walking crocodile bag! Who does he think he is ? I know Spicy Lizard didn't just demand those sacred Elia-McGuffins! I know the genius who lost his Dofus, not once but twice, didn't just ask the Eliatrope artefacts and even added a tight deadline and a menacing debt collector (goth queen Julith 🖤).
That guy?! Who would give anything so dangerous to the very dragon who couldn't keep his Dofus safe from fusing with a baby (Maître Joris) and later could only watch as a crying toddler (Ogrest) gobbled the egg down? Be for real !
And now Rasalar is threatening people ?! This guy needs to disappear TODAY ! I'm saying this as a totally unbiased person who has no favourite at all. If this dried-up reptile hurts my beloved child Amalia or little Grougal and Chibi !
One too many people have been talking big just because they got some Kinder eggs stuck on their back !
How are they so loud, when they look like this?!
Tell me this is not what dark!Adamaï, Toross and Rasalar looked like? Embarrassing!
On a side note, Rasalar sacrificed all these villagers to revive The Butcher of Brakmar only to use her as his Uber driver?
Heretic!

Anyway, as usual, the art is fantastic and the pace is great. All those cameos from the animated seasons, making me all teary-eyed and stuff. My boy Nox ! 😭😭😭
I'm looking forward to this new wave of drama! Hopefully, more character development will come for the non-Iop cast. 😒

Wakfu the Great Wave, Chapter 11
Beware of spoilers

Chapter 11 just dropped, and all I know is that GigaChad!rasalar is a masochist. His interactions and dialogues were giving spicy noodle. And that hair, omg!
As usual, the visuals are excellent. The coloured panels were a nice surprise. The character design is everything! So glad Cynthia Leman is working on this project. 🙏
I feel dumb for being surprised by the whole "Mystery Father" situation. Up until now, I thought the twins knew who their biodad was. Seems like I was wrong?
Their conception was shown to the audience in several media, but I can't remember one Wakfu material confirming any of the Wakfu siblings canonically knew about their father.
Still, this is wild because how can they NOT know?! There are several sets of twins, each made of a dragon and a humanoid with wing-shaped antlers! They know that dragons lay Dofus when in love (how the incarnation of Stasis could actually feel love is beyond me, but that's another story). They know goddesses and dragons can reproduce (Dame Echo). They know their mother is the literal incarnation of life/wakfu, but they can't guess who their daddy is? Might as well call Maury, smh.
🤔 Weirder is the fact that Mewing Fire Lizard over there knows all the tea, while those two remain clueless. It's not like there were so many dragons when Goddess Eliatrope was looking for a dance partner. Bruh...Rasalar must have been trolling when he said Adamai was clever, smh.
Not one lie detected about Yugo, though. Bless his hot-headed little head! He is a lot of things, but certainly not the brain of this Dofus.
Anyway, my hype is back, so I'll keep on rambling until the end of Volume 2.

y’all love the morally gray, snarky, grief stricken characters until it’s a woman. i’ve seen so much discourse regarding female characters who display the exact same character traits as male leads and are criticized for it while the men are praised. let women be cruel and vindictive. let them deal with their grief and trauma in destructive ways. let them be real. give them the same treatment you would give to your favorite male love interest.
