As the years go on, I've decided I like the word "focus" in spell writing a lot more than "intent." In part, it's because the internet kinda poisoned the word "intent." Someone's intention is treated like the end-all-be-all of magic, which undercuts all the hard work and research others do, can quickly slip into "law of attraction" pitfalls, and implies the cultural folk traditions people fight to keep alive are meaningless. If intent is all that matters, then there's no reason to do any homework or examine your actions, which isn't a healthy mindset for any magic work or occult study.

Focus, meanwhile, gets the same point across but doesn't carry the same social baggage. I also think it does a better job of describing something you apply to other steps, not a complete step itself. (After all- intention/focus isn't just another ingredient you add... it should be the standard you measure every action and decision by. I think focus does a better job connotating that.)

I've already been using focus for a while now but I thought I'd officially remark on it. Anybody else have thoughts/words they like? Let's discuss. ^^

he does not think being/appearing feminine is bad in any way. he frequently laments "not being able to wear" certain things he thinks look too feminine because he is "not masculine enough" to pull that off, and also "not brave enough"

i think colours / symbols / things in general being gendered in society is stupid. i literally do not endorse that at all. this is not pro-pink/blue binary. the stuff herein is just statement of facts wrt the society we exist in and general perceptions. yes, it's dumb. but also yes, it's a thing.

furthermore, asking for censored versions of someone’s legal documents is incredibly unsafe.

no-one should ever send photos of their legal documents to anyone who has not verified they have received the proper certification and training to handle legal documents, and no-one should ever send those photos over an unverified channel (i.e. discord DMs, twitter DMs, a random person’s texting number).

this applies to censored versions of your legal documents.

there are certain paid courses you can take to prove you are capable of handling sensitive information (a broad classification of personal information that includes photos of legal documents). any company that requires you to upload sensitive information to access their services has internal training policies for any employees handling said information (often making use of those paid courses), and uses specific programs to handle said information without storing it on servers and to limit the possibility of said information being leaked or breached in some way.

if an organization (including an informal one like a discord server) does not have those training programs and does not use those programs to handle your data, they are dangerous and you should not give them your information. if your organization (including an informal one like a discord server) is asking for that sensitive information without staff going through this training and using certified and safe methods of collecting this information, you are creating a dangerous environment. it doesn’t matter how much you trust your mods; legal documentation is a big fucking deal and handling it requires a massive dedication to data security.

if you are really, sincerely worried about facing legal consequences for someone lying about their age via discord’s built-in age verification, to the point that you feel the only way to avoid legal liability is to handle photos of your members’ legal documents, you need to commit to the highest level of data security to run that server.

❄️🍲Soothing Winter Stew❄️🍲

This is a classic dish, some of you may better know as Labskovs but there's heaps of variations of it! It's a winter favorite for me and always cook tons of it; it's better shared and honestly is one of those recipes that's always better the next day! 🤎 It can be easily adjusted to whatever leftovers you have around(meat, veggies, portions, etc.). For my own practice, I often take the act of making it and make that an offering to Hel and when the stew is done it's an offer to Loki's family, landvættir, and make it a community meal. Do what you please with it and I do hope you enjoy my take on the recipe, please share any photos if you make it!

You'll Need:

5lbs of potatoes - russet is preferred, anything that's flowery

2lbs of chuck steak

4 1/2 cups of water

1 large onion or 1 1/2 medium sized ones

1lbs of baby bellas sliced(I often change this out with whatever we have leftover, sometimes carrots, leeks, or cabbage)

6 bay leaves

5 thyme sprigs or 3/4 tsp of dried thyme

whole garlic clove

4tbsp of butter

2tbsp of pepper

1tbsp of coarse salt

a dutch oven or large sauce pan

To garnish:

6tbsp of chopped chives

Sauerkraut or pickled beets

loaf of bread on the side - we tend to favor potato or rye

To cook:

Heat 2tbsp of the butter in your pan at medium heat. While the pan is warming cut the steak into one inch cubes.

Add the steak to the butter and and brown slightly. Then immediately add the water and gradually bring the water to a boil. [Skim all the froth off the service].

Add the onions, mushrooms, whatever vegetables you chose, bay, thyme, cloves, pepper + salt into the pot. Let it simmer for an hour.[Do not let it boil!]

While the stew is simmering, cut(and peel if you want) your potatoes into 1inch cubes. Add them to the pot and let it simmer for another hour or until the meat falls apart easily and is tender.

Drain off the excess water and add the remaining butter to the pot. Stir clockwise until mixed and mashed, but keep the potatoes a little lumpy.

Serve with your garnishes and enjoy! Let it cool before storing in the fridge.
