Random Woman Says....
11 posts
Most things in life are random, from the moment you are conceived, to birth to death, you will wander through life watching, talking, observing, interacting and taking advice (most weirdly) from random strangers. Some strangers will become friends but most randoms will be that vague memory of a short chat, look or shared moment of mirth. So lets explore the random.....

The Shopping List
A list is a strange thing, it can be a snapshot of what you wanted and as you add to the list it can become what you needed. The worst type of list is the grab bag of things other suggest are needed no better the cost. The new President seems to be moving through a shopping list of grab bag ideas. Banning Muslims draws the last four hundreds of immigration into question. The right to faith and religion is very clearly laided out in all western democracy's. Religion and Democracy reside together but separate. The blood of millions from the wars that raged across Europe clarified the idea of the separation of powers and at great human cost. The targeting of one group effects us all. It is the chipping away of the idea and principles that create laws, build communities and create the idea of self. If the reports flowing out of the White House are true the next group targeted will be the geeks and nerds. The group targeted will be immigrants, mainly from India and more broadly Asia. The long term section that will be affected are Universities. Their life blood are oversea's students. If the visa work programme is shut off the shock wave could be massive. Next will be LBGTQ anti discrimination laws. The latest polls would suggestion that western cultures are now open to same sex marriage and the moving forward of laws protecting these groups. Hates crimes will return in ways many thought were dead. Environmental Laws, the stripping of laws to allow shale oil exploration and oil drilling. The short answer is, look at Europe. Fossil fuels are old and dead technologies. China and India are moving rapidly to water, wind and nuclear sources. Coal is done. Oil is done. The jobs are gone. But imagine if a pristine lake near you suddenly becomes a black stinking pool of oil. Imagine that happening across the middle of America. Through the food growing areas. All because someone wanted a pipeline. Would you buy food polluted by oil? Would you want to live close to that pipeline? How would you like having a thick veil of ash on your house, car and clothing everyday? Other topic's to look forward to: Company Tax rates: Up or down? The repeal of Roe v Wade Net Neutrality But what happens when the shopping list is finished?

A word rarely used
Let's all stop ringing own hands, yes things are going sideways. Things are not what we all hoped for, as a man on the gallows once said "Such is life." Let's talk about a word that seems to have fallen from the modern western lexicon. It's been around for along time and for some it the root cause of all problems while for others they wish to ascend its tricky stairs. As the western world realised they could save money, remember that saying, they looked to Asia. Ironically communist China was willing to help. Production moved, money was saved. Shareholders rejoiced with the Stockmarket its cheer squad or so we were told. Other countries joined this push by Western Countries to save money. India, Vietnam, Bangladesh. The middle class slowly began to emerge in these countries. That's good right? If your a share holder. And who were these rejoicing people? Mainly members of the board on the companies pushing jobs overseas. They got the bonus straight away because they had tens of millions of shares. Not 410k or Superannuation people who have maybe a few thousand shares. Those returns if they ever arrived will be over the next 20 years. Did we the tiny shareholder do anything? We were told this saves money! That is good for the economy. We all failed. We failed to see that rarely used word in new skin. Money saved is fact GREED. Blinded by corporate greed, the instant return of money to board members via shares we did nothing. Why? Because they made out we were stockholders. That the free market will pay a fair amount for products. That all those in the free world would receive a piece of this w It's a terrible lie. While the new President cuts up deals and signs new orders. Ask yourself this. He has failed to cut ties to his companies. He will be coming into contact with highly secret information that may have a Commerical value to it. Will he be able to overcome his greed?

Faded memories and junk
Dragging my lazy ass around my house I've come to realise I have much too much stuff. It's the worst type of stuff, dust collectors. Vases. Glassware, furniture, toys, clothes and the ones that make me feel like a grandma "knick knacks" all pushed into corners, on top of one another or hidden in closets and storage areas. How did this happen, why did it happen, the easy answer is one my Grandma used to say to me "keep it, it could be useful" WORST.ADVICE.EVER. Now I have to go through the house looking for stuff that can just hit the garbage. Stuff that can go to charity and stuff that should by rights be burnt in a pyre, placed into a canister, shot into a black hole and never be spoken of again. I'm looking at you hyper coloured t-shirts. Too all with too much stuff I wish you well, I feel your pain and again wonder why people kept giving candles. I'm not that impossible to buy for.

Crying Wolf
We could rake the coals for weeks about the Trump election. The Democratic loss and the role in future of third parties and independent candidates. For awhile I struggled to understand what I was watching and frankly I still don't understand allot of what happened and why. Words fail me. Yet, the one core issue I think should be considered is relevancy, how relevant will the USA be considered in six months, a year? If the leader of a nation is considered a liar by many? A failed businessman? Could you ever consider him a politician? How many times in a single day can a leader change their position? How thin skinned is he? Can he complete a sentence without referring to how great he is? The USA is relevant due to two hundred years in activity engaging in international affairs. History shows both the good and the bad but in fairness the USA has been there. Now we have a man, barely a politician and clearly not a diplomat crying wolf. If the USA sinks in the eyes of the West who will replace her?

To dream of what could be
I like the idea of money, lots and lots of money. Sometimes of day dream of life with more money than I could count in a life time. When those super mega jackpots come along with the ad's of smiling happy people disappearing into the horizon on yachts or airplanes my heart goes a flutter. My mind wanders into a world of building a new home, travel, wonderful wine and expensive experiences in boxes high above the heads of all others in stadiums with my own personal butler and chef. When the numbers are draw my mind falls into a flunk, I kick the dirt and mutter about how fair is it a single Mum of two living in a car is a more deserving winner than I. This year I will buy tickets but no more daydreams. They can be poison, the likely hood of winner it up there with discovering the tooth fairy is operating her secret factory of teeth and money behind my old Xmas tree downstairs. Still I will dream, but now it most be able able getting my stuff packed and after three years of in action finally packing after my old life. Decluttering is the name of the game, but if I won some money I could get a professional declutter in, Sigh.......

2017, too much hype
The future is a beautiful place. It's bold and bright. It offers such hope of potential of getting into those skinny jeans or fully paying off all your debt. We all look to the future at some point, we sigh and wish things were better now but pray it is better in the future. We allow ourselves to be keyboard warriors, thumbs up or down to any manner of social picture, vid or meme. We like to think own thoughts matter to the masses or friends. 2016 was another of on line rage, of on line shaming and trolling. Some pretty horrible ideas have arisen and are sucking in air. The normal stench that surrounds them is slowly been over run by those that believe skin colour and gender point to a superior human. The horrible ideas are been redressed, the stench perfumed over and the terrible hate they offer to a select few is been offered as free speech. My hope for 2017 boils down to a few numbers that should make you consider how democracy works in the USA. 4% of the American Population voted for Trump to become their Republican nominated candidate. 25% of the American Population voted for him to become President. Maybe this year 2017, we can all come out from behind the screen and engage in thoughtful debate about the global future. Trump is a once in a life time lightening strike. He has illuminated a lot of thoughts many of us believe were been forgotten. If we fail to engage with those who remain mute, or those that believe nothing can be done and everything is going to hell. We as a species won't have long to go. Let's make 2017 the year we talked to one another with open hearts.

The overheard conversation
I'm an eavesdropper, there I said it. I enjoy listening while appearing to be totally absorbed by WOWC or a word game on my phone. Yes, I'm one of these zombies roaming the streets ignoring all that is good and pure. Killing my eyesight and rotting my brain.
Some overheard conversations are simply fun because the conversation is only half complete when you enter. You are forced to try and understand how the words you heard are meant to hang together, others are those heard in an tight location like lifts or the best ones are those produced by teenagers. The speakers are totally in their own world and all words spoken are most truly believed and all logic is grounded in truth by the speakers, while those around them stare at one another trying to hold back the laughter. 聽聽
Todays conversation was the moral minefield.
Most actions in other peoples life I try my best not to judge, you start judging and quickly your moral compass becomes a haywire mess of a rule for one but not the other. My rule of thumb is life is grey, black and white exist at the polar ends and are very thin strips of moral right and wrong.
I had wandered into a burger joint for a calorie hit, it was raining, I was cold and had worked hard. Dammit I needed a fist full of greasy fries. I made my order and sat down to read the news on my little blue screen. Upon my entering I had broken up a conversation between two friends which quickly hooked up again once my ass was upon the squeaky leather chair.
The conversation flowed from parties, to dresses, to family to the cheating husband. My ears pickled. The conversation continued, I could feel their eyes on me as they described the husband, who he had been with, the girlfriends, his job.
The elder one claimed she would never stay with a cheater, I had spied no ring on her fingers or during the discussion about her dress what her partner thought of the style. The younger agreed, her words were short and it became clear the new girlfriend to the cheating husband was a friends of hers!
Awkward.聽
That was when the conversation had petered out for a second, I glanced up to see both looking at me. The youngest, me, was to add something. Maybe break the deadlock? Stand up and start singing "I am women heard me roar" or maybe say with a smile "Oh, he's totally a dude root ladies!"
I mean really, yes I'm a woman, cheating....well cheating isn't a clear cut issue. The wife in question maybe over the sex thing in the relationship but enjoys all other parts of the marriage, the husband could be one of those men who just loves women and can't stop. I've never had the cheating thing happen to me. So to be asked to throw stones at people I don't know, had my squeaky leather chair rolling around under me.
I was saved by a pimply faced teen wandering up with my white bag filled to the brim with golden straws of irish goodness, the bag was quickly becoming covered in grease spots. It gave him an angelic glow. 聽
I had taken two steps before they started again, I was glad to leave.

ROBOTS OR DINOSAURS?
Dinosars are now petrol, gas and some metals. Robots are made from plastics and metals. So thus the answer is clear.聽
