The first Pony Life thing is out. It’s mediocre as hell.
I guess it could be worse, right?

This is kinda off topic, but did you see Rise of Skywalker? If so, what did you think of it?
I did not. I’m not one for Star Wars. Saw the original and prequel trilogies, didn’t really care for either. Haven’t seen anything else.

The problem with Anon's strategy is that endlessly producing content and branching out also causes people to tune out. Look at Lego. They made the Lego Movie, everybody loved it and then they just flooded the market with tie-ins, specials, games, and spinoffs. Then when the sequel comes out everyone's like "Eh, I can just watch this stuff on Netflix." I think that more than anything crippled the MLP Movie. The opinion that you can just watch any season premiere/finale and get the same effect.
I think Marvel has this figured out pretty well. Sure, they’ve got their TV series and odd spin-offs here and there (and, obviously, the comics), but it’s always been clear that the MCU is its own major entity, and if the average person is going to pick only one thing to focus on, it’s going to be that. If you want a franchise with multiple branches to continue succeeding, make sure it has one main channel.

I think Pony Life might be more than just filler. I think Hasbro's going to apply the Transformers multiple branch approach to MLP. They watched Guardians of Harmony fail, the movie disappoint, and decided that slice of life and adventure can't work together in one show. So, one toyline/show for the target demo and one for everyone else. Can't really fault them for this line of thinking.
So, what, split it up like Sonic the Hedgehog and have a slice-of-life series and an adventure series on at the same time? I mean, I guess it worked for them. I’d still worry about the quality of each, though.

Which was the best Cutie Mark Crusaders episode. And which was the worst?
The best was probably “The Cutie Mark Chronicles”. I liked seeing how all the Mane 6 got their cutie marks. It was simple, early world-building, and it was a decent story.
The worst was definitely “Crusaders of the Lost Mark”. It was the one that made it clear that everyone involved had completely forgotten what cutie marks even were in the first place and what their importance was.

This is a selfish thing to ask, but could write a list of your expectations for Pony Life? A best case/worst case scenario for the show?
Um… I don’t really have any expectations? I mean, the best case scenario is that it’s funny, since I’m pretty sure that’s all it’s supposed to be; the worst case is that it’s not. I’m not expecting them to get the characters right at this point; this is a gag show, so presumably, they’ll all have exactly one personality trait each. Rule of Funny is all that matters here.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for EqG because even though I didn’t like it, it also got to stick around for six years. If they didn’t cover something in that time, oh well. They had their chance.
Not to mention several movies and a LOT of shorts and specials.

It sucks that they had more plans for Equestria Girls (apparently, they were going to introduce the native, human Sunset), and we never got a proper ending; it just stopped, and instead of putting those resources into continuing EG, they're going to do a G4.5.
Huh. I didn’t know they had more plans.

The sad thing is if they do right by [insert poorly used secondary character here], I’ll probably jump onboard. FiM is such a mess, I’m ready to reward basic competence.
Seriously, if they just made a spin-off show about Starlight and Trixie (preferably without the school, but that’s probably not possible), I’d watch it in a heartbeat.

You know that generic unicorn merchandise where it’s like unicorn poop or unicorn farts or whatever? “Isn’t it edgy/ironic that we did this?” That’s those character designs.
Kinda, yeah. The style is fairly similar.

Equestria Girls already did that, but mostly took place in a crummy AU.
Being further removed by making everyone humans might have worked to soften the blow, compared to doing the same thing in a different style.

I think they feel doubly betrayed. The show’s barely in the ground and Hasbro’s already throwing out what a lot of people liked about it.
Perhaps that, too.

That’s a pretty unhealthy like to dislike ratio for that teaser.
40% dislikes? Yeah, that’s not good. I mean, you often have to take YouTube videos with an inordinate amount of dislikes with a grain of salt (and indeed, this one might be just FIM fans downvoting everything), but that still doesn’t make it look any better.

Filler and cash grabs, like tangerines and oranges.
Ha.

Even if this turns out alright, they’ll still cancel it to put out the real G5. This is a cash grab. There is literally no other way to read this.
Filler isn’t exactly the same thing as a cash grab, but the end result is typically the same.

This will do as well as that Unikitty show, cancelled after two seasons, but at least that had the benefit of airing in a network that was readily available. The really annoying thing is this isn’t even about making a cartoon anymore. This is just filler so they can guard shelf space until the movie comes out.
It might be so that MLP doesn’t fall out of people’s minds before the movie comes out, as well.

It reminds me of Teen Titans Go!, which says everything that needs to be said about the franchise at this point. That six years late, My Little Pony is ripping off Teen Titans Go!
I guess so.
