Demons and you in RP.
So, it’s come to my attention over my time Roleplaying on Wyrmrest Accord that there are quite a few misconceptions and misunderstandings (or ignorance) when it comes to Demons in lore. So I’d thought I’d throw up a synopsis of what I have amassed in my time mastering Demonology as a point of roleplay with citations and explanations… So lets go!

Why there are no gnome paladins?
Because they can’t reach the light.

Rapueda carefully carried the tray of tea over to the couch, continuing to chatter on about the last couple weeks. She paused for a moment after getting no response.
“Reep?” She cocked her head to the side, listening.
The only response was Jhom’s deep whisper...”Sleeeeeep.”
Pue smiled and set the tea down on the table. She felt her way over to the couch and reached for the spare blanket draped across the arm. Covering Reep with the blanket, she leaned over and placed a quick kiss on his cheek.
Reepicheap was exhausted. A trip to Tinkertown to make use of their Contamination Showers just to be safe had added an extra two hours to his return back to Iron Forge. His client was happy, he had uncovered a great deal of information for the Mage, and had gotten a very good idea at how bad the plague contamination with in Gilneas was currently. His special suit had done it’s job perfectly, protecting him completely.
Now, the tired gnome was making his way from the Flight Master to Pue’s apartment. He hadn’t seen her in the last two weeks at all being in Gilneas. As much as he wanted to bring her a gift back, some of the tea sets he had seen were amazing, he wasn’t going to risk not being able to remove the Plague from the items that the Forsaken had blanketed the City in.
He was tired, his feet felt like they were full of lead, and every fourth or fifth step brought a yawn to his lips. It was early afternoon and Pue said she would be home, he knocked at her door trying to hide a yawn, blinking his eyes to stay awake…The door opened, Johm looking down on him briefly, before moving and letting him enter.
Reep smiled at Pue, pulled her into a hug before he had to admit, he needed to close his eyes…hopefully she wouldn’t be upset if he napped on the couch…He didn’t ask though, he simply nodded when she asked him if he wanted some fresh tea. He made his way to her couch and sat down. She was telling him about her time apart…at least he thinks she was, he couldn’t remember anything once he sat on her couch, his eyes closed before he even got comfortable…and fell fast asleep.

I wish the lore was a little more flexible with the relationship between player warlocks and their demons. Surely not every single demon in the Burning Legion is happy with the way things are, or none of them would’ve even considered joining Illidan and we wouldn’t have the Illidari. So following that canon logic, why can’t any of my demons have decided that they’d rather follow me than the Legion either? Why do we have to suppress their will? I just want to be BFFs with a Wrathguard guys ;_;

Rapueda blushed slightly and grinned at Reep. “Come back to me in one piece.”
She briefly took Jhom’s hand, her eyes changed to a bright green, and watched the Gnome disappear. Sighing, she turned back in to her meager apartment, the voidwalker close behind.
"I think I'm forgetting something." Your choice!
Reepicheap patted down his pouches and bags searching for something.
“I think I’m forgetting something,” he proclaimed in almost a panic.
It had been difficult to tell Pue that he would be gone for the next couple weeks, and, not actually be able to tell her where he was going. Not a super secret mission, but one of those places where it was best to not let it get around. As much as he like Johm, it could be a problem if the demon decided it was a good way to get rid of the gnome without his Mistress knowing. Something Reep had learned from Helevere, the damn succubus…
As he smiled at Pue, he quickly wrapped his arms around her in a quick hug and kissed her quickly, “that’s what I was forgetting. I have a mailrocket, and will send messages once a day…”

😏:Is your muse a good liar?
In a pinch, she can be. Otherwise, no, her facial expressions give her away.

Explain why everyone's cool with warlocks canonically
alright so here’s the thing
everyone is less cool than they seem with warlocks
but also, warlocks are like, doctors of demonology, they’re the world’s leading authority on the Legion, right after Demon Hunters, but Demon Hunters suck at paperwork and conversation
if you want to know how to kill a demon, you ask a Paladin.
but if you want to know what a demon is, or how to kill a demonic portal, or if a demon has a particular weakness, or where a certain kind of demon might be coming from,
warlocks are the people you call. you need experts if you wanna win.
…destruction warlocks are just fire mages who picked up a book on demonology once, but majored in pyromancy.
affliction warlocks are like… Lesser Nerds, among warlocks. They know “Word of Nausea” and “Curse of Sores On Your Butt” to get back at all the cool jocks who were mean to them and went on to join the Dalaran Cops and pick up a big purple shield
they too, know passably enough about what to do when a demon shows up, that it’s useful to have them around
it’s like a firefighter, except with zero charisma- they can solve a very specific problem in the most informed and effective way

Reepicheap steadied Rapueda on the wide stone railing of the balcony. Jhom stood behind them like a concerned father, his arms outstretched to grab his ‘wayward children’ in case they started to fall. Reep knew Pue could soul link through Jhom and see through the demon’s eyes, but it was information he would only share if the gnome next to him told him to. It was her secret to keep, but it didn’t mean he couldn’t put it to use.
They were inside of Iron Forge, and it was nearing Midnight. In his wanderings, he had found a closed building that had a balcony way up near the ceiling overlooking the Great Forge. The balcony was low enough to be below the smoke line, but still well above the floor. It had taken them over an hour to climb up to their vantage point, but he thought she would enjoy the view. At least he hoped she did. She giggled when he told her he was going to put goggles on her to protect her eyes. The heavy leather drapes he had “borrowed” from one of the lower floors were draped around him, and every time she asked what they were for, he just grinned and said “You’ll See!”
He heard the shouts from below. The warm cider they were sharing between them kept away the chill from being so high up. They were at the thirty second mark when he asked Pue if she would use Jhom’s eyes to watch. As the crowd of mostly dwarves began the ten second countdown, he popped the cork on their champagne, the spray spewing out and becoming a very fine mist long before it ever hit the floor below. Pue was looking around, and he could tell she was nervous, so he held her tight and on the stroke of one, the Cheer went up and the Fireworks began to explode in front of them.
They were so close you could almost reach out and touch the beautiful displays of lights and magical shapes that filled the air so high above the Great Forge. So close in fact, Pue realized the leather drape and goggles were to keep them from getting burned by stray sparks. Stars and Balls, and Spinning Arrays, to rams running across the sky and kegs of beer exploding in magical sparks. The show went on for a good ten minutes. Pue’s awe and shouts and giggles were magic to his ears, and he couldn’t help but turn into her, hug her tightly and kiss her with all his heart. Even going so far as to lift her from her feet, completely and securely balanced as they were on the wide stone railing of the balcony.
“Happy New Year Pue! Hope we have Many More!”
