how my life fell apart in my early 20s
two years ago, I had everything or so I thought. I followed advice from social media trends to create an alter-ego, one that embodied my “ideal” self. I pursued my dream body, lived in my perfect apartment, and surrounded myself with a new circle of friends. I even opened up about my struggles to people I trusted, thinking it would strengthen our bond (something I've never done in my life).
instead, my life unraveled. Piece by piece, I lost everything and by everything I mean EVERYTHING.
Hitting Rock Bottom and Starting Over
november 2024, turning 25y, nothing left to lose, I came to a stark realization: the only person who can truly help me is me. That’s when I decided to rebuild from scratch. There is no way I will let my life be wasted for the next 5yrs. my plan begins as the clock strikes midnight on January 1, 2025. This time, I’m not listening to anyone else’s advice. I’m cutting out all the noise.
over the past six months, I’ve taken drastic steps to reclaim my energy and privacy. I deleted all my social media, changed my phone number, and stopped sharing the intimate details of my life with anyone.
A New Approach to Self-Improvement
this journey isn’t about creating a shiny new alter-ego or striving for societal ideals of perfection. It’s about reconnecting with the raw, authentic version of myself: the person I truly am at my core. no more Pilates obsession, no elaborate Korean skincare routines, no matcha lattes, and definitely no alter-ego fantasies.
Instead, I’m embracing my divine energy that as a woman flows naturally when we stop trying to be someone else.
A Message to My Past Self
i’ve chosen to document this journey online as a sincere message to my past self and anyone feeling lost or disconnected from their true identity under the weight of societal pressures. This is my way of saying, “I’ve experienced the highs, endured the lows, and now I’m certain it’s possible to find your way back.”
this journey isn’t about chasing perfection, following trends, or becoming someone else. It’s about uncovering and embracing the raw, authentic version of yourself that has always been there.
my first piece of advice? Ask yourself this: do you really believe the best version of you is someone other than who you are right now?
