Same experience, different version. PC wasn’t common in our area back then and watching movies using CD was the only way to watch Hollywood movies. So whenever someone could collect one, atleast 10-15 of us,including seniors from previous generation, even girls sometimes.
I was only nine, and remember one of our seniors managed a CD. We all gathered, hoping this would be another Harry Potter or Narnia type fantasy. Since English isn’t our 1st language, none of us were familiar with the book you see.
What happened next is after the end of the movies all of the girls and almost all of the boys came out from the room in tears😅💔. My friend's Mom(who was the host) bewildered, was asking everyone of us what happened. We simply had no answer for her that day.
What is your most memorable movie that you went to see with a parent? Mine is Bridge to Terabithia because I'm fairly certain neither my mom nor my 11 year old self knew what to expect and my mom hasn't willingly stepped foot inside a movie theater since then.

In a perfect world Jess and Leslie would end up together. They would have their own comic book publisher named "Terabithia ", and they would create their own comics. Jess's artwork,Leslie's writing, creativity and both of their imagination. Created carefully in Terabithia itself, sitting in their treehouse. Like Hogwarts,Half blood camp,Terabithia would also provide escape. It would provide home with Leslie and Jess as King and Queen forever🤍

She had tricked him. She had made him leave his old self behind and come into her world, and then before he was really at home in it but too late to go back, she had left him stranded there — like an astronaut wandering about on the moon. Alone.

As someone who loves Ginny, don't you think Ginny deserves better than Harry?
No. To be fair, though, it'll forever be a better argument against hinny than the idea that Harry deserves better than Ginny.
The only actual "problem"
The thing is, the story ends with Harry having a giant debt towards Ginny, but that part about Harry wanting to talk with Ginny for hours, days, and years, is meant to make the reader understand that the debt will be extinguished.
The reason why the reunion between Harry and Ginny can't be shown is this: the second Harry goes back to Ginny he's not moving from there but the plot of the Chosen One needs to end with Ron and Hermione, they are the Chosen One's companions.
That dichotomy that exists in HBP between the Chosen One and Harry continues in DH, and as in HBP, Ginny is associated with Harry. Every time you see Harry Potter thinking about Ginny in DH, it is Harry prevailing over the Chosen One.
Ginny is the most important person to Harry, this is shown a billion of times in the last two books but to the Chosen One? Well, not only she is not his companion, she is a bit of a pain in the ass. She is a living representation of everything that exists outside of killing Voldemort. He is not supposed to think about her.
It's what Ron doesn't understand when he accuses Harry of not caring about Ginny. That accusation shakes Harry so much that he starts wishing not that Ginny is thinking of him but that she knows he is thinking of her. You could also see that as the moment Harry starts acknowledging the existence of that debt we were talking about.
That said, the actual very last scene of the series is between Harry and Ginny and it's a very explicit parallel to the first time Harry saw Ginny in 1991. Again, with the last chapter, we see the end of the Chosen One story, but Harry's one? That ends in the Epilogue with Ginny. She is never meant to be his companion during the war, but his future. As I said many times before, Ginny has her own story, what kind of equal to Harry could she ever be if she was dragged into the role of his assistant? Not that it would actually work with Ginny's personality, you'd need to re-title the books.
Is he good for her?
That whole matter aside, Harry is great for Ginny.
He shares her love for Quidditch, and for both of them it's a representation of freedom, they have the same values, priorities the same things, and have the same way of processing their emotions. Ginny, who hates to be vulnerable because it always comes at a cost for her, finds in Harry someone that since he was twelve never made her pay for that vulnerability.
Ginny finds in Harry not only someone she can make laugh or that can make her laugh but someone she can build jokes with, a teammate. It's also important to note that humour is part of their communication style, they use it also in highly emotional conversations. It's not that obvious to find someone you share that with.
Harry has the power of grounding and calming Ginny, something that very clearly no one else can do.
He displays a willingness to show himself vulnerable that he never really offers anyone else (with maybe the exception of Sirius on some level).
His overprotectiveness balances out her recklessness. Harry's overprotectiveness would suffocate anyone that doesn't have Ginny's hatred for being protected, and in the same way, Ginny's excessive need of being independent would stray her away from anyone who can't contrast her on that.
He seeks light and joy and is kind after all the darkness he is gone through which is the same thing Ginny does. Their connection to Voldemort is a shared experience for sure but it's not what makes them compatible. It's the fact that they respond in the same way to it. It's crazy how people take that for granted. And on that note, they have the same emotional resilience.
And also, a very underappreciated thing, Harry breaks out of his bubble of self-centrism for her and actually observes someone else's life. Not because there's some mystery to solve but because it's Ginny and observing her surrounded by friends, learning about how she influences other people's lives, the relationships with her brothers, is worth it.
In the end...
I think believing after a first read of the books that Ginny deserves better is a reasonable perception but overall an incorrect one.

I remember before that you said you don't really care about Hinny right. So what makes you suddenly love Hinny? Is it because you reread the books?
Storytime
The first time I read I was 12 years old! I didn’t know or care much about the ships, but I was wondering if Ron and Hermione would be a thing and then I discovered the world of fanarts and fanfics because of them. I remember I read the 7th book in 2007, some weeks after its release. Ginny and Harry got together, ok with that but it wasnt like a reaction in which I said “noooice”. I didnt even care about - shame on me - harry James potter.
By the time of the 6th movie people were saying so many bad things about hinny that I just ignored the ship, giving my time to scorose, romione and next generation in general (which ironically, I’m not doing so anymore, but not for any reason because I still like them!)
But there was burdge’s (@burdge) hinny art, which I love so much! I adore those arts, but still I never tried to draw or think about them. I only enjoyed her fanarts of them.
Then in my first year at college in 2013… it happened. I got the 7 books in english and I read them all over again.
After I reread the second book, Ginny being so crucial in the plot, and Harry saving her without even knowing he was going to be in love with her years later….. that just made me feel so warm inside. Like “hehehehe ur going to be in love with this girl wait for it”
And I was so excited to see and find little quotes here and there about them that I didnt even realise when I was 12.
But my true love for them started after trying to draw them as adults in my potterbyblvnk series in 2017. I just thought the combination of harry and Ginnys personality was just great to explore. Their fierceness, tthe powerful relationship, also how much they are a mixture of love and tenderness while I also could imagine them having rough sex (lol sorry), too good to not explore these raw aspects.
Besides, they are quite a positive couple. Not a single fight in the books, they became friends and harry passion for her was gradual, like sometimes it feels almost natural, there weren’t any other drama. The only one was harry breaking up with her because VOLDEMORT which is so understandable. And Ginny did understand him, she didnt even cry, she even kissed him as a something to remember before he could go hunt horcruxes and destroy Voldemort. Amazing imo

He thought he did something lool
'The most powerful wizard of his time' bit of an exaggeration but ok. Most famous perhaps
He is powerful, yes! And I’m not exaggerating. In his 30s, the things harry could do and how much he improved his magic.
And he is famous. Not “perhaps”, he really IS most famous. Lol

Dearest HP shippers,
When you speak about why you like your ship, just remember to state the exact reason, like how they are having a quality time with eachother instead of directly jumping to "X was an abusive /a below average friend to Y so i am shipping Y with Z" kind of arguments.
I was scrolling through anti Romione and Anti Harmione tag. All I found out there were arguments like " Ron resent Hermione due to her achievements" and "Harry finds Hermione boring". The funny part is that none of them made any sense.
Ron was always the first one out of the people who admired Hermione a lot to praise her without any hesitation. He was so proud of her. It's canon.
Harry was someone who was used to the presence of having both of his best friends with him. When Ron left him for the first time, it was a bit difficult. It's NOT because Hermione 's company was so boring. It is because he missed Ron. Would you miss that person who was your best friend for three years, who unexpectedly doubted you and stopped talking to you suddenly? Exactly. That was what Harry was feeling. After that incident, many occasions came up where h/hr spends time with eachother alone especially in book six. They were shown to be having good time alone.

Do you have any favourite hinny fics that you love?
ok but I’m binge reading @annerbhp hinny fics and I’m like so in love with her writing. We Can’t Control has to be one of my all time favorite in years :) I also have a soft spot for the fic “Homerun” by @fightfortherightsofhouseelves (about Hinny first time, it’s absolutely cute) - and every hinny oneshot @gryffindormischief share on tumblr, I melt. @reerox67 and @diva-gonzo has lots of hinny as well, some of them even inspired by my art!
You can check the fics and more authors that I read here: https://archiveofourown.org/users/Bblvnk

I don't know when you decided to become a hinny Stan but I am delighted that you have done it, without a doubt you are one of the best that has happened to the fandom, before hinny didn't have the recognition that they deserve and although they still receive a lot of hate, I believe that your art is making more people begin to appreciate them, You transmit many things that unfortunately in the movies they did not show and although I love the hinny of the books I also know that it is not much what we have, for that reason I love that you are sharing the moments that you imagine between them two. When I see your art I feel it so real, I feel your hinny (and all your drawings) take on a life of their own, thanks for be in this fandom ❤️
Thank you so much! I started to enjoy them when i read the books for the second time, and while I drew them :) I always think that in order to enjoy/create about Hinny you have to know how to read between the lines...
Canon didn't give us much either, but the very little we had is just enough, because the rest we can fill for ourselves.
I don't think they are "excited" to write/draw about, because they have this domestic vibe that is very raw. Knowing how Harry and Ginny spent their time together in Hogwarts wouldn't make a difference in the big plot/adventure of the books. A brief mention "happy hour by the lake" requires imagination, but it's enough for a book that has to show more adventure than romance.
Drawing little comics is the only way I thought that could be interesting to show Hinny. No pressure to create any big, adventurous, dramatic, dangerous plot.
You see, when I was younger I used to love enemy to lovers trope, the "hate -> love" usually got me very excited in a book/movie/series. But at some point I realised that it's unrealistic to me, because I never personally felt interested in someone I disliked or argued with.
thinking of Ginny and Harry is a comfort to me. Because they have that "my best friend's sister" trope that it might be very boring, but crushes on siblings' freinds easily happens lol... and the fact Harry's feeling gradually grows as he starts to appreciate her as friends is very very sweet too, and it's the most real to me.
I can see why they aren't popular. but to be honest, the fact they don't have a devoted ship fandom is what makes me invested in them. I feel absolutely no pressure to draw about them, because no one expects anything more anyway... I'm glad that my drawings help someone appreciate them :) It's always really nice to know that.

When Ginny and Harry kiss on Harry’s birthday it’s seems like harry has more control/ know what he is doing than in the beginning of the relationship, was that done on purpose?
❤️
Sorry for any spelling mistakes English isn’t my first language
Thank you! Ohhh nice that you noticed that!
I've always particularly had this headcanon of Harry being a bit worried he might not be a great kisser, because of his first kiss with Cho and especially after that scene in the book when Ginny points to Ron and Lavander and teases "it looks like he's eating her face doesn't it? I suppose he got to refine his technique somehow" And i especially like that Ginny, with her experience, helps Harry with his techniques and confidence, once they get together, but mostly important, never making him feel embarrassed, but rather more eager to please her properly.

I re-read the books recently and when I got to the end of DH after Harry views Snape’s memory and realizes he’s a horcrux and will need to die to truly defeat Voldemort, I was absolutely heartbroken reading that entire scene. The last time I read the books was awhile ago and so the heaviness of that scene never truly got to me but now that I’m older and can really process the sheer depression Harry felt in that moment, that scene made me want to cry. Harry realizes that he will never see his best friends again, he will never see his love again, he will never get to step inside Hogwarts again. Obviously he does survive but Harry didn’t know that then. And I think it’s an interesting contrast from before (primarily in OOTP) when Harry was always sort of in the mindset of being ready to die versus in DH when he realizes he HAS to die to save his friends and realizing deep down that he’s not ready and wants to live.
