Hi! I'm a sikh woman who wears a dumalla, I have some comments on your post about turban vocab that hopefully help you :) A dumalla and a parna can be worn by any gender. A dumalla comes from the root word "do" meaning two and normally consists of two pieces of fabric. A parna comes from "to wear" (i believe, Punjabi is not my mother tongue) and is normally a small turban and often used as the base layer of other turban styles. Pagh normally refers to a larger turban style, and a Paghri is the smaller version of the Pagh. As for the other styles mentioned I'm not sure on them as they are Islamic headcoverings and I only know about Sikh turbans personally. If you have any questions feel free to ask :D

Turban Vocab to Research

I'm keeping an ongoing list of words I come across while researching turbans (I'm not from a culture that wears them). They'll start as just the word I need to look up, then will fill with what I find out.

dumalla - small round turban worn by Sikh men (source: Lurags) any gender. A dumalla comes from the root word "do" meaning two and normally consists of two pieces of fabric (source: tumblr user grampiremolloy)

hijab - a garment that covers the head and chest worn by both women and men (came up in an image search for turbans and the men's hijab looks similar to a turban to someone outside the respective cultures.) I want to draw fanart of the Daevabad Trilogy so bad but I'm so ignorant about the clothing styles. Spessifically turbans are causing me issues. There are so, so many types! And they all seem to mean something important! Ad in the fact that this isn't current fashion, but historical fantasy fashion and I'm at a loss.

Anyone know key words I should use to do my research on what different characters might be wearing?
