From an amateur game designer:
My problem with minecraft has always been this, how the game is supposedly built and marketed as having content for people who love combat, exploration, and building
The problem is that minecraft has really boring combat, and theres only so many structures to find, and it quickly becomes repetitive. Nothing bad with that, its like comfort food sometimes, but its dumb to claim that these aspects hold a candle to the building in the game.
Simply put, most recent updates have been trying to be just live service to keep combat enthusiasts and explorers in the game, when that sort of design is just antithetical to minecraft's infinite nature.
A lot of "Minecraft is BAD" videos are really annoying because, like, there's actually a lot of things that could use fixing, yes, but you're just trying to turn this into 3D Terraria. I think a lot of people who make these videos forget that most Minecraft players are intrinsically motivated, rather than extrinsically. It's a sandbox game at heart, the vanilla experience does not need highly-controlled level progression.
