This guy is my new hero. I LOVE learning about native food plants that just grow everywhere without human help.
The database is a little clunky to use (especially on a phone), but still loads of excellent information.

WIP sneak peek of the Scuttle Chest Mimic! 🦀💎 She's almost finished printing and honestly, I'm in love. Look at those claws! Look at that snoot!! This little mimic is my newest functional sculpture, she can hold a whole deck of MTG cards and a set of dice like the treasure hoarder she is. 💼🎲 The lid is printing today (fingers crossed!), and then I’m planning a full photoshoot once she’s all assembled. Might even include a printable adoption certificate and care guide 😏 Stay tuned for the final reveal! ✨

how is this even a fucking question it’s a wasp
evil is a human concept, a human activity. and truly, what is more human, more evil, than labeling a creature as ‘evil’ for its base animalistic need to survive and its defense responses to fear.

A gentle Yellow-Legged Mud Dauber Wasp. I found her* caught inside, so I brought her out.
These guys feed on pollen as adults, but their larvae need protein. They make mud tubes as nests for their babies, and put spiders inside as food.
Here’s more info on these helpful bugs for the interested: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/121821-Sceliphron-caementarium
*pretty sure they’re a “she” based on antenna and abdomen shape.

behold! by Endurance we sit comfortably, or something
based on That One Photo by Frank Hurley, which I am obsessed with, this has been my main project this year. it's doubleknit, so theoretically reversible, although the seaming means that one side is much neater than the other. it was a stash yarn project, including 100g of sock yarn from a shop in Bergen (the blue) and 100g of handspun sockish yarn from Tormisdale Croft on Islay (the grey), so about as far from Antarctica as it's possible to buy yarn 😅
