Javert is NOT a rich white cop, he's a poor Romani man born inside a jail. When I first joined the Les Mis fandom about a decade ago I remember there were a lot of people who made Javert a rich white policeman. Which, hey, I do kinda get it, especially when you're contrasting Javert to characters like Valjean or Les Amis. I totally get why people would want that story to exist within Les Mis fanworks. But also, that is not Javert whatsoever. He's canonically half Romani, born in a prison.

Javert being a class traitor actually means so much more to the story than Javert being some random privileged asshole pig.

While there's some things I enjoyed about the 1998 Les Mis Movie, I will NEVER forgive the ending. I'm sorry, but there is no world where Valjean would walk away smiling as Javert kills himself. Like, I'm not just saying this as a Valvert shipper - I truly think it's such a genuine disservice to Valjean's character to do that, considering that JVJ saves and forgives Javert MULTIPLE TIMES in canon. Valjean would not smile at anyone's death, especially not anyone's SUICIDE! Even if that person is Javert! He saved Javert's life, and you write him SMILING AS HE DIES? NO WAY!

I think when it comes to lesbian eponine, another huge factor could be her relationship to Cosette? They don't actually hate each other. They like the same guy (even if it's comphet) and come from the same abusive environment. And Eponine sees Cosette as "better" than her, and having an easier life, and she hates her for that reason, when she really just envies her.

Oh yeah absolutely. like, it's probably complete self-projection, but I view all of Éponine's interactions as being "a lesbian with BPD and CPTSD."

One of my favorite Les Mis dynamics/ships is "Cosette is dating Marius and also dating Éponine; and Éponine and Marius are best friends." Because Ép and Cosette share that childhood trauma, and Cosette ACTUALLY loves Marius, while Éponine just thinks she does.

in canon or even fanon I think it'd take A LOT of character development for Éposette (or a triad involving Marius) to happen. but honestly, in a way, that's part of why i love it. lfdaghafigh les mis is probably my most multiship fandom, and as i said, comphet lesbian éponine is VERY important to me.

like, as I've said, On My Own is absolutely a comphet/maladaptive daydreaming song - but I do not think that that diminishes Éponine's feelings for Marius in any way! I think it just allows for the audience to see her feelings in a different context than the norm.

also, ép's moment in the brick where she wants to drown herself, but chooses not to, only because the water is cold, is such a mood.

like...listen, i'm not making this post as a way to be against mariposette (or whatever the ship name is) shippers. but rather it's to be FOR whatever the fuck comphet lesbian éponine feelings i have. like, i love éposette, but also i think a huge part of lesbiponine in general does not necessarily have to involve her ships. sometimes it can be just based on vibes.
