[ruddy scurries over, hopping down from somewhere (a vent, probably), and shoving it into its mouth. it glances up to sniff a couple times at the air in front of you, before scurrying off with a shake of its nonexistent tail!]

{sneeeeef... squeak chirp?} (hello? can you understand this? i think i got the voice to text to work... apparently it translates for me, so that's nice.)

{chirp chirp, squeak!} (oh, this is ruddy, by the way! the.. rat? is that what you bigs call my kind?)

{sniffle, squeak.} (um, if you can't understand this, that's okay, just ignore me. i put another little gift under your pillow! i hope you like it.)

basic ruddy character post

hello!! in this post i will detail some of ruddy's character traits, a few fun facts, and its overall features.

all will be below cut :3

Ruddy is around age 10 in rat years. Born on the ship, a few days after takeoff. Its name originates from Captain Curly, during the recent kiddy curly magic anon led by the rodent twins (i believe? they've been hitting a few other blogs, i think), blog of @/curly-capt

Ruddy is a manx rat, and has no tail. Its coat is a grayish brown, and they have lighter, more saturated markings on the face and stomach. There are a few along the spine, too, but they're mostly just dots along the bone. Its mother was not a manx, as it is a recessive gene. Both the mother and father had the gene, but neither were manx.

Ruddy is a coward, frankly. It avoids conflict at every opportunity. However, its opinions of the crew are mostly positive, except for a few of the brasher or blunter members (swansea and jimmy in canon, essentially) Ruddy shows affection through gifts, and its means of acquiring these are unknown and can be chalked up to 'do it for the vine'.

Humans will always be referred to as Bigs, and human children are referred to as Littles. Other animals are called by- you guessed it- their type or name (if ruddy knows it). In narrations, they will always be called their name if i am aware of it.

Ruddy is quiet and softspoken. It doesn't have much experience with other animals or people, so it mostly goes off of the horror stories that its mother told it before she passed. Expanding on that, Ruddy has no sense of death except for in regards to its own life. It has a severe 'no waste' mentality, and doesn't grasp the weight of death to other creatures.

Ruddy can FULLY UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. Ruddy CANNOT be understood by humans, as it speaks in squeaks, sniffs, and chirps. I don't care too much about this, but honestly go nuts. All of its non-interaction posts are voice-to-text. Asks to other blogs are viable to be understood, as the voice-to-text is magic and provides translations. Obviously.

[the rat tilts its head, eyes boggling, but shakes its head and nuzzles against your palms. it chirps again.]

[it deposits a few chunks of bread into your hand, small, but still light and fluffy. the rat squeaks, sniffing at your skin.]

[a rat scurries towards you, squeaking and chirping.]

[it seems baffled about your large size, but tries to climb you nonetheless.]
