Even when it is well intentioned I don't really like the whole anti anxiety/low self esteem thing of "oh you really think you're uniquely terrible that's so self centred" because no actually this is not about being self centred it's based on recognising genuine patterns in how people have treated me and being afraid of encountering said patterns again "you think you're special" yeah well special is an insult in certain contexts and some of us encountered that from a very young age. And it fucks up your emotional regulation, and then here people go phrasing their supposed "support" in the most flippant and uncharitable way possible and expect it to be taken well through an amazing feat of trust and emotional regulation from some very anxious stranger online who has no real reason to trust that they're not the kind of person who would've said it was your fault your classmate spat on you at the age of nine. Or something.
