Like I remember having an English teacher who really made me question basic shit LIKE KNOWING A WHOLE ASS LANGUAGE.

Context: English isn't my first language. So in 6th grade this teacher made us do weekly book reports on any book we read personally, and at the time i wanted to read this book i found in my house that was in Spanish, so I decided to do "extra work" and translate anything that the teacher wanted us to write directly from the text. I did ALL THE ASSIGNMENTS CORRECTLY but nooooooooo she was like "iM sOrRy BuT i CaN't ReAd SpAnIsH" YOU DONT HAVE TO I AM TRANSLATING EVERYTHING

They can leave 10+ assignments but they can't give you more time to turn them in??? IM SUPPOSED TO HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE!! Like, do they realize that mental health is a thing?? Essays take timeee, and when the students ask for at least TWO DAYS extra to turn in ONE assignment you say that "iTs ToO sTrEsSfUl FoR mE"

My latest comic for The Nib was written by my friend Mike Thompson- it’s his first published comics work! 

The Nib has been a steady source of income and a huge support to me and many other indie cartoonists for years. They publish amazing work, but will be cut loose by their financial backer in July. You can read the official post about it from editor Matt Bors here.  They are still running their kickstarter-funded print magazine, but have to put digital publishing on hiatus until they figure out their next steps. Shit my father has told me/done that makes me uncomfyy but I'm not sure if it's wrong:

When talking about buying a swiss army multi tool thing he said TO ME SPECIFICALLY (his eldest daughter) "a blade like a woman is not shared"

We were talking about how my grandma had a conversation with someone not sure if they were talking about their dog or child until they mentioned "the owner" (they were talking about a dog). While laughing my father pointed at me and somewhat scream "I OWN you".

Called me bossy and my brother a "natural leader" basically in the same breath

Once I told him that I was no longer comfortable with him showing affection a certain way, he got hella mad and has actually continued to do it. I'm scared of telling him again

Whenever he gets the chance he praises my brother for his "engineer-like" mind. He has never said that to me or anything close to it even though i have said since elementary school that I want to dedicate my life to STEM

Its going to be my birthday soon, and my father told me a few days ago that it's hard for him to think of something to give me as a present. He has no idea what to give his own child. Fun. Anyway he took me to some stores so I could choose a present. We had a good time and I chose some pants that i really liked. Next he took me to another store so I could choose a shirt. As i was looking for one he picked one up and suggested that i buy it. I looked at it and decided against it. He made this sound of annoyance and just shattered me. I felt like shit and basically just chose a random shirt and said that i liked it. From then on i just felt depressed for the rest of the trip
