sometimes i'll think about the jaime vs hermione match-up grrm wrote it's just so insanely funny to me. my favorite bit isn't even the fight itself it's the very beginning when he's responding to someone who dared to suggest that jaime uses a valyrian steel sword and he goes "No, no. Jaime does not actually own a Valyrian steel sword. The blade he used to kill King Aerys is common castle-forged steel, gilded to match his golden armor." because it's written in the exact same exasparated and smug tone that he talks about maelor the missing and any other tiny bits of lore people had the audacity to forget and that don't fucking matter.
