( rp where Sonic befriends metal sonic?

He had merely been thinking to himself when he said those words, and since he was unprepared for his best friend’s sudden arrival, he jumped, a little startled by how sudden Shadow got here. Then again, they hadn’t seen each other in over fifty years. It was an odd feeling.

For him to notice the scars that quickly... Leave it to Shadow to play spot the difference as soon as they meet. It was just him being concerned, and Sonic wasn’t sure how he’d react to finding out exactly what happened when they separated on the ARK.

“Ah... These?”

He laughed nervously while pointing to his left cheek, where two slash marks ran horizontally across the peach and blue fur. That cheek had more scars, so he used that one instead of the one with the single scar.

“Well... After I led the guards away from you and Maria, they ended up sending attack dogs after me when they got frustrated. I tried ta run... But they cornered me against a wall and went in for the kill...”

He gave a slight shudder at the memory quickly flashing through his eyes before looking at Shadow.

“Out of all the wounds that the dogs inflicted on me, only three scarred. I guess I understand why though... They nearly reached the bone with a few attacks before they were called off. Even with all that fast healing, something like that should be more likely to scar.”

⭐⭐⭐~ Shadow knew the feeling all too well, allowing the other to rest his head against him and continuing to brush through his quills in order to calm him. It wasn’t common for Sonic, however, which did make him rather concerned.

“Sounds tough, it’s nothing too bad, right? Nothing..stunted this, perhaps?” 

He didn’t want to sound too much like a therapist, but he wanted him to know that he was there for him, and that he cared about his welling-being, no matter how subtle he was about it at times. He sensed slight fatigue, maybe that was it?

A soft sigh was made when Shadow continued to gently brush through his quills. In all honesty, Sonic had no idea how this came on. Sure, back on the Ark he misplaced things more often than everyone else, but no one knew why. Even Gerald said he was stumped.

“Well, even back on the ARK I had a tendency to misplace everything. Remember when I couldn’t find those medical supplies that one of the scientists needed? I spent twenty minutes looking for the room only to find that when I entered, I forgot what I was supposed to be doing in the first place. Those times were the worst... I felt so bad.”

His eyes looked into Shadow’s for a moment. He was confused at why he was forgetting everything and slightly tired. It was easy to read in his emerald orbs.

“The whole forgettin thoughts part is newer... I think? I’m not sure. It’s like the two sides of my head are playing ping pong with my thoughts half the time. It feels really chaotic, honestly.”

He was terrified. Every loud noise caused him to flinch and cower underneath one of the two beds inside the cell. He had hidden there as soon as the stranger was led into the place, and didn’t seem in the mood for idle chitchat.

“I... I d-d-d-dunno!”

He finally spoke loud enough for the other to hear. At the moment, he wasn’t concerned how he suddenly ended up with an alternate of himself. The memories caused him a great deal of stress, and he swore that a panic attack was coming on.

“I was trying ta find S-shads, but these people came up to me and led me away. I don’t know where I am or anything, but... I don’t like these places at all...”

It was always a weird sensation when he zoned out. He was suddenly snapped back into reality in the blink of an eye, and always ended up slightly dazed afterward.

The gentle hand on his head always got some kind of happy noise out of him, and now was no exception. He let out a happy sigh in response, wagging his tail slightly at the affection. Sonic adored being petted, but the kind of petting that made him feel completely relaxed was when Shadow was the one doing the petting.

“For once, I have no idea what I was thinkin about. It’s like... As soon as I think it, the thought’s gone and I can’t remember what it was.”

When Shadow sat down next to him, he leaned over to lay his head on his best friend’s shoulder.

“I have no clue why my brain does that, not to mention misplacing and losing track of everything...”
