If your daughter is musically inclined you could get her an ocarina. If not maybe one of the official legend of zelda books, or the first few volumes of the manga
Thank you!!!

Ok somene in this fandom please help me out. PLEASE
My daughter is super into this fandom, and I've been looking and looking online in Linked Universe stuff to try to find her something unique for Christmas. I know she writes fanfic and, hell, will probably see this post, but I really would like some ideas on what would be good for her. She's so hard to buy for bc she doesn't ask for ANYthing, but she loves playing Breath of the Wild, and writing fic and drawing, and I dont want to keep getting her Hyrule sweatshirts from Boxed Lunch; it seems goofy as heck.
HELP A MOTHER OUT.

Hunger Games didn’t really eat holes in my brain the way that it did for some other people but god the opening lines. The opening lines. Katniss wakes up in bed and immediately, instinctively reaches beside her, only to find the bed empty and cold. Before we even know her name – before we know literally anything about her or this world or her place in that world – we know that she loves someone. We know that she is reaching for where Prim should be, sleeping safe and warm beside her, but Prim is not there. She is not there, and her half of the bed is cold and empty. People talk about characters being “doomed by the narrative” when most of the time the character was literally just a well-foreshadowed death, but Prim WAS doomed by the narrative. It’s the very first thing we learned. It’s the most key, integral, important piece of information we’re given about everything that is about to happen: Every single choice Katniss makes is to protect her little sister, and it isn’t enough. In the end, Prim still dies. Prim was dead before the story even started. Katniss, reaching. Prim’s side of the bed was cold and empty. There is no version of this story where Prim could have been saved. Katniss, reaching. The very first thing she does in the series. She wakes, and she reaches, but Prim is already gone. THAT is how you do Doomed By The Narrative. Edit: Also it is key that there was literally nothing Katniss could have done differently. If she had not acted to save Prim, Prim would not have survived the Hunger Games. But by acting to save Prim, Katniss accidentally kicked off an entire rebellion and ultimately massively increased the amount of danger Prim was actually in. The key is that this is irrelevant. If Katniss had done literally anything differently, Prim still would have died. If Katniss had faltered or changed course at any point, Prim still would have died. There was never a point where Katniss could have changed Prim’s fate. There’s no version of this story where Prim lives to see the end of it. She’s dead before the story begins. That’s doomed by the narrative.

She’s just been drawing Fitz nonstop, and then she turned Paragon INTO HIM, crooked nose, axe and all. Even the earring. I cannot. No chill. She’s so in love it’s disgusting.

Currently reading a genre I don’t often read & am learning in real time the disconnect between preference, experience and objectivity in determining if a book is good or not. Is what I don’t like bad writing? Is this problematic? Or do I just not understand the genre conventions?

Why Should I Pre-Order My Comic?
Pre-ordering a comic is a pretty easy process that has a HUGE effect! Comic shop owners have limited space and tight budgets, so they’re very careful to only order stock they know they can sell. When it comes to a new series by new creators, your local shop may be unsure how many copies they should order.
That’s where you come in! When you pre-order a comic like The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, Motor Crush, or Fence, you’re letting comic shops know you’re going to support them and more comics like them, which helps retailers place orders with confidence.
Then it goes even higher up the ladder! Comic publishers receive news on how comic shops are ordering their comics, and that informs them how many comics they need to print to meet retailer (and customer) demand.
In the comic market, one of the most effective ways to support the comic you love and the creators who make it is to pre-order!
How Do I Pre-Order My Comic?
First of all, be sure to check the Final Order Cutoff date. You’ll need to get your pre-order in by that date in order to guarantee your copy. (If you miss the date, you can still let your shop know you want a copy, but there’s a risk they’ll sell out before you get one!)
I Want A Physical Copy of the Comic! Through a comic shop:
Find a comic shop near you (and this works internationally, too) at comicshoplocator.com, or discover one of the shops that are guaranteed to support BOOM! Studios comics here.
Visit, call, or email that comic shop and tell them: “I want to pre-order [name of the comic] with Diamond Order Code [XXXXXXXXX].”
(Diamond Order Codes are reference numbers. For example, the code for Fence #1 is SEP171282. You can also use a handy order form like the one above.)
The comic shop will place an order for you, and you’re done! Your copy is guaranteed.
Some comic shops even have online stores that will mail you the comic. You’re still supporting that comic shop, even if you can’t make it to the actual store.
Want to make sure you don’t miss an issue? Tell your comic shop you want to subscribe to the series. They’ll put you down for every issue automatically, so you don’t need to repeat this process every month. Hooray for convenience!
Through the BOOM! Studios webstore:
We’d REALLY prefer that you support your local comic shop, but sometimes that’s just not possible. In that case, you can check out shop.boom-studios.com and search for the title you want to pre-order.
You can order individual issues or subscriptions that include multiple issues. We ship internationally, too!
I Want a Digital Copy of the Comic!
You can visit comiXology, Google Play, iTunes, or any other digital media platform and purchase the comic with one touch.
Some sites, like comiXology, even have digital pre-order options, that way you’ll have it downloaded the moment it goes on sale.
TL;DR: Pre-ordering a comic keeps the series going. Just tell your shop what comic you want and they’ll do all the work. 😉👍

☆ Fresh out the oven, a new Check, Please website! ☆
GUYS. The new site for omgcp is hosted by Hiveworks and looks SO GOOD! While, Check, Please will still be cross-posted on Tumblr, this site has much-better navigation features and puts everything in one place. My fave feature?
Organized & searchable tweets woot-woot

If Tumblr navigation has been a major turn-off for friends and fam, and carrying around PDFs on your device ain’t your thing, this site might change things up.
Have fun playing with it!

Will never be over the fact, Victor and Yuuri tried doing lifts while fooling around during practice, and thanks to that, they ended up incorporating them in Yuuri’s, final, exhibition program.
JUST IMAGINE THE LAUGHS WHILE TRYING NOT TO LET THE OTHER FALL. IMAGINE THEM TRYING TO LIFT EACH OTHER, NOT BECAUSE OF THE ROUTINE BUT BECAUSE THEY JUST CAN’T KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF ONE ANOTHER. AND WHILE DOING IT, THEY BOTH AGREE IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO GO ALONG WITH IT AND MAKE IT PART OF THEIR PAIR ROUTINE.
IMAGINE THEM MAKING RIDICULOUS PUNS ABOUT HOW ONE IS BETTER AT IT. TRYING TO LIFT EACH OTHER TO SEE WHO’S STRONGER. OF COURSE, VICTOR IS THE ONE WHO ENDED UP, DOING ALL THE LIFTS. (But Yuuri is not complaining.)
Having them fooling around after hours of practice, tired, but immersed in their own world, together. All the domestic bliss. Thank you, Kubo.
Based on what Kubo-sensei had to say, regarding episode 12, in interview from Pash! (2017/03). Credit for the amazing interview translation: @toraonice (Full translation of the interview).
