One last delicious meal of pad thai and I’ll be off to board my plane to Doha. Just 22 hours of flight time and a 12 hour layover stand between me and queso/tacos/guacamole. And probably BBQ too. 😋
Texas and loved ones here I come!! 🎉❤️🇺🇸
I’ve loved my time traveling so much. I can’t wait to share stories and more about the things I’ve seen, people I’ve met, and history I’ve learned.
Now to start planning the next adventure :)
love,
sarah

Greetings from Vietnam! Though we are significantly less diligent with the tumblr updates, we will try to share some of the best Vietnam adventures. Last night amazing Pho was found, and we saw what Hanoi looks like after it shuts down around 11pm. We're about to get on an overnight cruise on Ha Long Bay! Sad to lose Amanda and Sarah, but the next week should be lovely. Also, it's cooler! - Natalie and Kyle

We are so sad to leave Cambodia! Although I do have exactly 66 bug bites from sand fleas and I am eager to get som anti-itch medicine…
We flew from the sleepy beach town of Sihanoukville to Siam Reap. We all made a bet on how long checking a bag, through security, and ready at the gate would take - in case you’re curious, 5 minutes.
Kyle and Natalie continued on to Vietnam. Our flight was pushed back an hour. After the airport lost power twice, we realized we had 3 hours, and we might as well take a tuk tuk into town. We did and were able to enjoy one last Cambodian sunset. We bought some elephant tanks and made it back with plenty of time to spare. We were even surprise upgraded to business class!
We will land around 10 pm in Bangkok, stay the night and Amanda flies out early in the morning. I fly out at 9 pm, so I’ll spend one last day enjoying Bangkok.
then, back in our favorite state with our favorite food - queso anyone? love, sarah

Our connecting flight from Siem Reap to Bangkok got delayed so we had a three hour layover. Naturally, we decided to take a tuk tuk into town to buy elephant t shirts. We got lucky and caught another beautiful Cambodian sunset! @sghobs #readyjetgone #nofilterneeded #crazygirls #loveelephants (at Siem Reap market)

Cambodia is one of my favorite countries I have ever visited. They have a tumultuous history and yet the people speak about the past as just another bump in the road on their journey to happiness. They are kind, helpful, and eager to talk to anyone. I am humbled by the Cambodians and love their food! The first night in Sihanouk Ville, we took a tuk tuk out to Otres 1 - the farthest beach down the coastline. We had dinner at Tamu and everything was delicious! Sarah and I ate barracuda freshly caught from the ocean! Yesterday, we stayed at Independence Beach, the beach in front of our hotel. It's rainy season which means low season for travelers. There was only one other person on the beach with us! A mid- morning storm blew in and we went to the beach bar for piña coladas. (Get it? Drinking piña coladas and caught in the rain!). We had dinner at the sunset bar and watched the sun go down- it was beautiful! Sarah took photos from her good camera every ten minutes of the sunset and will post them when we get home. We ate scallops on their shells and they were like butter! My mom would have been in seafood heaven! We were all tired from a day on the sun so we headed home early and watched the Harry Potter musical. One of the greatest things about traveling with this group is our shared love for Harry Potter! Today is Sarah and my last day of the trip. I can't believe how fast this adventure had gone! I will definitely be visiting Cambodia again! Humbled, Amanda

last night was so much fun! The temple tour really exhausted us all, so after a 2 hour nap we were hungry and ready to explore! Amanda found a great place that had a dinner and an Aspara show. The dancers were so beautiful! It's a traditional Cambodian dance that has been practiced for a millennia - it was cool to see! The temples even had stone carvings of the dancers. The dance was at the fabulous Raffles hotel. Next time, we want to stay there :) After an incredible dinner of make your own pho, tandoori, curry, and banana flambé, we hired a tuk tuk ($1) to take us to the famous Angkor What? bar. It was an experience. We pulled up and were shocked to see a lively nightlife. It was just like Bourbon or 6th street - and totally not what we were expecting. We went to a rooftop bar to listen to an amazing band - she covered Shakira, Alanis, and Celine. Truly impressive! Videos to come! We ended the night at Temple Club where we danced to American Top 40 (from 2009). The people watching was great! Tons of backpackers and Cambodians alike - we even met a fellow Texan!

made it to Sihanoukville! We are staying at the Independence Hotel, the same place Jackie O stayed when she visited. I’m glad we came during low season, even though it’s crazy hot, we are pretty much the only people at anything we go do.
we took a tuk tuk to dinner, look at the pic of bottles above, they are everywhere and when a tuk tuk needs gas he pulls up, honks his horn, and someone comes to fill it up!
Last night we ate dinner on the beach at Tamu. Amanda and I had the fish of the day - barracuda. It was so delicious. Watching the sunset with good food, good friends, good wine and while playing a Harry Potter guessing game (nerds) was a perfect way to spend an evening.
Today, we explore! Have to enjoy our beach time while we can, Sarah and Amanda return home to Mexican food and burgers on Friday! Kyle and Natalie will continue on to Vietnam.

Made it to Sihanouk Ville today! The sand is white and soft and there are jungles and monkeys for miles! We ate dinner at Tamu and had tons of sea food. Sarah and I had barracuda! We spent over an hour playing a Harry Potter guessing game. Very lovely evening! @sghobs @kylerobertson @natalieebutler #readyjetgone (at Otres 2 Beach, Sihanoukville, Cambodia)
