Reagan Lancaster is making big moves at Lancaster Ranch in Texas!
Tumblr media
Recently, Reagan Lancaster with Lancaster Ranch announced that it had 11 2-year-olds in training for its inaugural crop of babies from its resident stallion, Smoking Aces. Smoking Aces' pedigree is out of Peptoboonsmal by Little Missy Lena. Pepto needs no introduction as a leading producing bloodline, nor Missy Lena either. Missy has produced many greats, with Light and Lena as only one example of another breeding stallion.
Lancaster Ranch also announced hiring Anthony Stockdale to oversee its 2-year-old program and help the ranches overall training program. Anthony is an Australian native that grew up on one of the queen's ranches, where his family managed the operation of over 100,000 acres. More recently, Anthony worked for Bobby Patton's ranch, the Rocking P Ranch in Aledo, Texas. They are thrilled to have hired Anthony.
In addition, Lancaster Ranch also dispersed of its interest in Desire a lil Pepto to Melinda Gamot in Palm Beach Florida. Reagan Lancaster was happy that "Woody" or Desire a lil Pepto got such a great home in Florida. Woody generated over $250,000 dollars in winnings and served the Lancaster Ranch well as an example of one of its best horses. Lancaster believed he was the best non-pro horse in the country, but did not have time to haul him around the world due to family commitments. Reagan Lancaster said, "I am so happy that Woody will get to be shown to show off his amazing ability."

Lancaster Ranch has also announced it will continue its long relationship with L & H cutting horses of Murchinson, Texas. Reagan Lancaster stated, "Lee Francois has had tremendous success with our horses in the winner circle and will continue to ride our best stock. Our plan is to raise and train horses until they are ready for Lee. We will work closely together to select the right horses for our program with Lee all through the process."
A little about Lancaster Ranch: It is located in the Horse Capital of Texas, and only 40 minutes from the Will Rogers Coliseum in Ft. Worth, Texas. Lancaster Ranch is a full service ranch which specializes in the many needs of the cutting horse industry. Historically, this property is known as the birthplace of Smart Little Lena. He was born in the front pasture by the entrance of the Lancaster Ranch.

Cutting horses runs deep in our veins, and in addition to our cutting horse expertise, Lancaster Ranch provides advanced herdsman care to the Angus cattle industry with strong maternal power in genetics. The Angus cattle program maintains a strong inventory of ready-to-go bulls with excellent EPD's, heifers, and cow-calf pairs meeting every buyer's needs. The ranch maintains some 400 female cows in its two locations.

Athletes are “Just Dumb”… yeah right! Let’s set the story straight. — Reagan Lancaster
Recently I was approached by a jelly hedge fund billionaire that made a comment that “athletes were just dumb”. Stereotype, come on man!
So I looked at my career and said: “I’ve been an athlete my whole life and thrived on athletics AND intelligence”. I started at a young age in soccer, then football (obviously growing up in Texas), baseball, basketball, track, and yes Rodeo. From Peewee to College. I’ve lived a life FULL of athletics and wouldn’t trade it for the world!
My athletics advanced, but growing up in a household with a math teacher, my homework had to be done before my dinner was eaten. I made straight As (for the most part) and was the vice president of the Honor Society in high school.
As my career flourished, I always played sports and always went to the gym. I prided myself on being in shape. Not professional, but in a non-pro status as its called in rodeo (or cutting); the highest level without getting paid by the public. I still received plenty of money in winnings, but since I worked I didn’t train anybody else's horses. I also played basketball for years in all kinds of leagues, from serious to church leagues. I rode my bike in 7 century rides and ran a marathon. On top of all that, even now I train for bodybuilding shows regularly. I’ve won 15 bodybuilding shows and qualified at a national level. I’ve won powerlifting tournaments and golf tournaments. If you can compete in it… I’ve probably competed in it. It’s in my DNA. I WILL find a way to work harder than you and win. I can’t help it.
In business, I am exactly the same way. I want to find a way to out-work you. I was the number one salesperson in every company I worked for. I was known for knowing my products better than anyone in the company. My customers loved me. I was thought of as a thought leader from industry experts and speaking engagements all over the world. I went to run companies. I built a sales team from 1 to 1000 and had over 7000 employees, of which 5000 reported directly to me as customer-facing employees. I won “motivator of the year” in many magazines. I bought many companies and worked on integrating them. I ran a public company for 25 consecutive quarters and never missed. We grew the company from 1M to 1.8B and had a 43B valuation. At Oracle, we grew 100 percent growth for the first 12 out of 13 years. I was the youngest VP at Oracle (…I think ever).
The statement that the hedge-guy made really made me start to think. Are athletes dumber? Well for me, athletics, being in shape, and looking good in my suit gave me an extreme confidence that no one could take away from me. My brain was sharper and I knew I was smart. My grades, SAT scores, and general comprehension levels killed others from all schools AND peers I worked with from Harvard, IIT, MIT, Stanford, Yale, Carnegie Mellon, Wharton etc……
Then I Googled it. Well well… 95% of fortune 500 CEOs played sports growing up and consider themselves athletes. 65% of women in Fortune companies were athletes. There is a Yale study that looked at this exact stereotype and wondered why the student body thought less of athletes when it came to smarts. Well, this is what they found… The graduation rate for student-athletes was higher and the grade point average was higher or equal to non-athletes. As I started to look I remembered some CEOs I worked for, Larry Ellison and Ray Lane from Oracle. They were both athletes. Crazy competitive athletes from Larry’s basketball days and from Ray Lane’s golf and just jogging with me. None of those guys took any prisoners. They want to win at all cost. Get in front of them and they will run you over.
At a company function, I won an award for “untamed heart” at a company achievers club sports rally. My thought is this: It really comes down to the heart inside. Most of the top guys have a huge hearts. Hearts of a champion. If you have never played sports and you are just smart, you’ve missed the pain, the ups and downs, and someone whipping your ass! You have no idea of grit and fight to stand up and keep going or get pounded in the ground again and again.
For those with absolutely no athletic background… please at least teach your kids and please don’t start living through your kids… thinking they are “all world” either because you didn’t play sports or knew anything about what it took to be a great pee wee, junior high player, high school, college athlete and ultimately pro. If you are paying for your kid to be in a select league and you get a letter from a top-100 player camp invite for $5000 cost, don’t start telling everyone your kid is a prodigy when you have absolutely no clue.
Lastly, athletes ARE superior… kinda like smart generals or old smart warriors in ancient times. Having experience in sports just makes you in better shape, have a sharper mind, and a killer instinct. “Just smart guys” who cry that athletes are “dumb” …better get out of my way.
