Alright, so you know these tarot card designs that were and probably still are insanely popular in the Dragon age fanbase? Yeah, I’m making some too, but for different warframes and their operators. Because they look cool, I guess. So I started with me and will continue to work on other cards in no particular order, although I’m not sure if I’m up for making the whole deck.

I wish it were easier to find art of the Grim Reaper in a style that I enjoy. Personally I am not a fan of interpreting him as some edgy dude that looks like the boss of a video game.

When I think of Death, this is what I see.

I see a Skeleton. Not a special or unusual one, a plain one. The Skeleton could be, while simultaneously being, anyone and everyone. It is not a man or a woman. It is no single person.

Its robes are plain and black. They are clothes of mourning. They are robes furthering the homogeneity of Death itself. 

Its face is expressionless, as a Skeleton must be. It is neither kind nor hateful, neither righteous nor cruel. 

In one arm It holds a scythe. An old, weathered scythe, a scythe that has seen millennium of use. A scythe that will continue to see use for many years to come. It is not prideful, it is not ornate. It is a tool, most akin to that of the farmer. Death does not kill, Death reaps the Life that has been sown. 

The other arm is empty, outstretched, silently imploring you to take it. It reaches out to you, as it reaches out to all of Humanity. It reaches out from the day we are born until the day we take the Grim Reaper’s hand.

Some fear this outstretched hand, but it is erroneous to fear it. Some welcome it, but this is likewise incorrect. Death does not pressure the living, Death patiently waits for all to inevitably accept its embrace. 

It does not speak, for it is our Skeleton. It cannot speak. Does it need to? 

The Grim Reaper is an unavoidable transition. Into what? It does not know, as it is us. But it does not need to. It will ferry us there regardless. 

That’s just life, and death.
