'so im meeting n himself and a talking pokemon at a nimbasa pizzeria. okay. alright. having a normal one today'
Looking up from her phone, Gin locked eyes with the resident Sonsan champion, bafflement and shock clearly visible on her face.
A normal one indeed. Good arc. She stood like a statue for a solid three seconds; if one listened hard enough, they'd be able to practically hear the dial-up modem noise coming from her brain as she attempted to process the situation.
"...Sooooo...the pizzeria. Um. Did they ever say which one."
Local mountain dweller comes down from the mountains into a verified shitshow, more at 5.

“Howdy howdy! Flight was rouuugh!!”
The small teen girl wore a stupid grin on her face, happy to finally spot someone. And, well, she sure did look hilariously out of place, with her too-big cap and hand-me-down flying jacket covering her worn battling gloves. She took a second to push her orange glasses up to the bridge of her nose before reaching a hand out for Gin to shake. The formalities of being Champion, it could be supposed.
“Nice to finally meet you! You look … Mm, pretty much like I imagined. Cool hat!” She was practically bouncing. There are things wrong with her.
“Oh man, whose that on your shoulder? I wish I could bring Small Pie out here too!”
What a bundle of energy. This girl fit the bill of a city teen perfectly; flouting all the curiosity and cheer of a wide-eyed girl, not quite having developed the miasmatic inner depression that sat buried within your average salaryperson.
As Gin watched her bounce like a hyperventilating Spoink, she couldn't help but wonder what series of events occurred within Sonsa to allow a fourteen-year-old to become the regional champion.
...Probably not too dissimilar from the series of events that made Iris champion in Unova, all things considered.
"Nice to meet ya too," Gin replied in kind, reaching down to the...much shorter girl to shake her hand. Huh. "And this is Mackie, the local piggyback-rider. Not quite used to the city yet-- can't blame 'im, really-- so I'm probably gonna be luggin' 'round fifty pounds of Croagunk for a while."
The Chansey Supply's sleek automatic doors slid open with a shhhhk and an electronic chime, and Gin quickly realized she was standing in front of the entrance, taking a step back to allow its formally-dressed patron her exit.
Then...just her, a champion, and the roiling crowd.
There was a short pause.
"Sooooo...this Tropius creature. And the ranger. How do ya reckon we'll go about findin' them?"

Still watching the sky. Still waiting.
No sign of any flying quarter-ton masses, nor their slightly unhinged teen champion riders. Just the same Pidoves, the same Murkrows, the same Pidgeys and Pidgeottos. The same vague, incoherent babbling from the current of people, Pokemon, and vehicles that passed her by. The same Cherubi hanging from a low branch on a nearby sidewalk-planted tree, which was hanging on for dear life in the strong winds.
Turns out, if you construct sidescrapers on either side of a given path, you get a wind tunnel. Who woulda thought?
Either way, this absence wasn't all that surprising to Gin. Sure, Sunshine was a little bit, erm...something, but even she probably wouldn't try to land a Dragonite in the middle of a poor, innocent crowd. After all, there were Flying Taxi landing spot every other block in the downtown area, and if those were filled, there were always the parking garages that people often opted to land on. Surely she'd figure something out, as she had promised with a not-all-that-reassuring emote.
...Poof.
A small creature emerged from a Pokeball produced from Gin's jacket pocket; a Croagunk, sporting a backwards cap and a blue-and-white jersey jacket emblazoned with the number 72. Mackie, as he was called, immediately hopped up with a small croak and clung onto Gin's back, resting his head on her shoulder. Unfamiliar locales or situatiatons often meant impromptu piggyback rides with him.
Gin briefly stumbled back from the sudden shift of weight, but righted herself just as quick. She was used to it.
...
Eventually, after about ten minutes of her periodically checking her socials in between playing levels of Brick-Breaker (to varying levels of success), she heard a voice shouting out from the depths of the crowd, near where she'd expect the store entrance to be. 'Gin from online'. All the subtlety of a Loudred, this one.
Nonetheless, that was her cue. She pocketed her phone, lightly grasped one of Mackie's hands, and rather heavy bootfalls preceded her appearance around the corner.
"I'm comin', I'm comin'," she half-muttered, amber eyes scanning for anyone who looked hilariously out of place-- and finding their mark in Sunshine.
"Howdy. That's me. Gin from online." She grinned, and Mackie followed up with a low 'crooooaa', peering over her shoulder. "Welcome to Unova, champ. Haven't been in this arcdamn city in years, so I guess we'll both kinda be Feebas outta water here. How was the flight?"
@sunshinefromsonsa
Gin never did like the city all that much.
To her, it always gave off this aura of...artificiality, fakeness. Like everything was just part of one grand, ongoing act, from the pedestrians scurrying down the sidewalks and streets like Durants, to the humble Pokemart cashiers putting on a veneer of joyous humanity to cope with the soul-crushing retail worker depression that burned like a pyre within them. Nothing felt right. Nothing felt real. There was always something happening, always too much hustle, always far too much bustle-- and everything was constantly drowned under waves of neon, screens, and corporate ads, the puppet masters that seemed to control this eternal play.
To make matters worse, she couldn't even have her grim compatriot Tonic floating beside her; she was already struggling to bob and weave her way through the sidewalk procession as is. Where were all these people coming from? Who were they? She'd never seen a crowd that looked so homogenous, yet so different at the individual level. Were they actors too, just here to walk around and inflate the pedestrian count and give a façade of productive industry?
...Probably not. Maybe it was just culture shock.
Gin tilted her bucket hat down to shade her eyes from the stinging sun-- and the wandering looks of Nimbasa's residents. On the front of the hat, a cartoonish eyeball looked out for her, scanning the area with its sightless gaze. She wore an unbuttoned pinstripe jacket, revealing a faded graphic tee that she'd gotten from a Durant Durant concert several years prior, and her relatively pristine slim-fit black denim pants seemed to be at odds with her heavy, weathered, dirt-dusted workers' boots.
It was her usual outfit for going out into the city, and considering some of the shit she saw walking past, she took solace in the fact that she probably didn't stand out all too bad.
'Man,' she thought, checking her phone again. 'Any updates?'
One, from that Sonsan girl. 'If you guys see a Dragonite flying above Nimbasa City...'
Oh, good arc.
Gin looked up, squinting in the cold glare of the sun, briefly shuffling herself out of the afternoon lunch crowds into a relatively quiet side street. Flocks of Pidove and Murkrow soared high above the storefronts, but she was looking for something more...orange.
She began typing back.
'im at the corner of, uh...earthen and singerpuff,' she started, before realizing that Sunshine probably wouldn't know what the hell she was talking about. 'theres a chansey supply here'.
