You gotta read and watch some old books and films that aren’t 100% modern politically correct. I’m not saying you should agree with everything in them but you need to learn where genres came from to understand what those genres are doing today and where media deconstructing old tropes is coming from.

Also, more often than you might think, they’re not actually promoting bigotry so much as “didn’t consider all the implications of something” or just used words that were polite then but considered offensive now.

Wen Yifan Started to watch The First Frost, and I was so drawn to how hauntingly sad and beautiful Wen Yifan is. The story itself is a bit melancholy, and there are moments in which Yifan kinda reminds me of a gothic ghost, but there's still a simmering of hope and sweetness.

I've been enjoying reading posts abt the Rose of Versailles film and how hornie they found the love scene between Oscar and Andre, and now I kinda want to draw smutty moments.

Wanted to draw Oscar in 80's fashion bc I think it'd suit her... ...but my gawd, blonde hair is hard to paint (for me).

I often get overcome by a need to draw realistically and then I just don't draw, let alone paint, so this was a study of trying to focus on shapes and let loose strokes imply in order to avoid rendering & overthinking. This process is a work in progress, and I'm not sure if I even like it. I do like the act of painting (digital) though. It's fun.

Saw a Lockwood and Lucy gif set that made me miss them so I doodled them. I really liked how Lucy looked at Lockwood, but I found it really hard to grasp her expression bc her smile was like a mixture of yearning, wistfulness, and relief. Big fan of how Lucy looked at Lockwood bc there's such complexity and depth to her gaze, it's like lovesick puppy eyes with a little bit of sad maturity.
