I don’t have the energy to make a fully formed post in my science blog for this but holy shit do I feel no sympathy for the vast majority of folks saying they need to use Ai for writing and research.

“Well Ai is just a tool like any other”

Yeah so is science, so is drilling and fracking, and nuclear science. But you gotta look at it in the context in which it is being used. Is it worth the outcome? The waste expenditure used to save you from 15 minutes of thinking? And the cost to your skill set when you rely on chat gpt to do the work for you rather than learn something new.

I am not some dinosaur afraid of change, and I don’t fear technology. But I know typing prompts in chatgpt in 2025 is not a “skill” that is going to help anyone in the long run. Especially not those using it.
