On Betsy Devos
If I was asked about the difference between proficiency and growth in regards to measuring student achievement in K-12 education in a job interview for a teaching position, I would be able to clearly articulate the difference and my stance on the issue. If I had answered the questions in a job interview as Betsy Devos did in the senate hearing, I would not even be considered for the job. It is very concerning that the potential secretary of education does not understand public education to the capacity that is needed in order to lead our nation's role in ensuring that our youth are able to succeed in their learning and grow up to be impactful members of society.

As an artist, you can be satisfied and proud of your work for what feels like a second. And then you realize that you need to push yourself more in your next project, your next body of work, the next process you use. It is a constant realization that you CAN do better and HAVE to do better than your last project.
