I can’t find the post right now and will edit when I do, but that one fic where Izzy buys the little chickens and is fascinated with tiny versions of things has not left my brain. I am absolutely accepting “Izzy loves little things” into my belief system.

And now I can’t stop thinking of Izzy being introduced to the concept of dollhouses. Like, actually seeing one for the first time, and holy shit? Holy shit, it’s a house but small? And full of tiny furniture? Look at this tiny little chair, Edward, Bonnet, are you seeing this shit??

And, look, things work differently on the Revenge and Izzy has a lot more time on his hands these days than he’s ever been comfortable with, and Bonnet’s always after him to join in the arts and crafts sessions and “express himself,” so fucking fine. He’s going to make a dollhouse. But he actually doesn’t know a lot about how houses are designed, but he knows about ships. He can make a doll…ship? The words don’t matter, his arms are full of wood and this is happening.

Not as small as the little model of the Revenge though, the one he totally didn’t save from being thrown overboard with the books because it was so LITTLE, but one he can fill with small cannons and crew members and so much tiny shit you don’t even know. And everything will be 100% to scale because why even bother otherwise? He will spend hours happily making exacting measurements before he even begins. The detail is going to be ridiculous. There will be a tiny forty orange glaze cake, so help him.

the crew deciding they’ll force izzy to admit he enjoys their softness and quirks by collectively giving him the cold shoulder until he caves

instead izzy, who had been steadily getting used to them, is abruptly shunned by the entire crew with absolutely no idea what he did wrong. he tries for days to figure it out but even ed and stede are in on it and no one talks to him besides the bare minimum required to do their jobs and he can’t just ask them what he did because if he was good enough in the first place he would know and

this is for the best, actually. it’s for the best the crew stopped wasting their time trying to play nice with him to get out of work. the ship is running the smoothest it’s ever been and yeah it sucks that edward isn’t acknowledging him but he’s probably busy with bonnet and thats what izzy does all this work for, anyway. so ed can relax. it’s not the crew’s fault he got used to being treated like one of them. first mates aren’t meant to be liked, they’re meant to be listened to. everything is as it should be.

I just. Had a realization.

I saw someone on tw*tter say 'If a toddler handed Izzy a toy phone he'd answer it' and like. They're so right. But the Izzy Haters in the quote tw*ets saying shit like 'he'd break the phone' or 'he'd throw the kid overboard' has me realizing:

Izzy is Gordon Ramsay.

He's the epitome of 'getting really angry at people who claim to be professionals without putting in the actual effort required'. As a corollary to that, he's also gonna be really, maybe not nice, but kind to kids who are actually trying.
