Jello is a brightly colored, gelatinous, and sweet. Usually served in an array of shapes and colors, its texture is difficult to describe because it is a cross between a liquid and a solid. This characteristic, while strange and unpleasant to some, is also part of what makes it so enjoyable for others because it can be eaten with a spoon or gulped down like a drink. Jello’s fluid yet solid consistency also makes it easy to form into unique shapes because it takes on the shape of its container. This way even those who choose not to eat it can still enjoy making interesting configurations out of it.
Jello’s taste is similar to that of any artificially flavored candy - tangy and vaguely fruity. Since it is made with powder and water, one cannot expect it to taste like a fruit basket. However, jello’s manufactured flavor paired with its unusual consistency is quite a turn off for some people. It is like no other dessert and therefore is not for everyone. Even so, jello is a cool, convenient treat to enjoy during summer break, not only because it can function as both a snack and a drink, but also because it can be served in little easy-to-carry cups. This makes it a favorite amongst children and adults alike.

Entry #6
In the school paper I would like to read about the alumni, Christian views on modern issues, and media. Hearing from the alumni every so often in the paper would be interesting because it would give me a chance to see how they are all adjusting to college and possibly even get some new ideas for fields of study. in the process they would hopefully be able to provide helpful advice about applications and study habits as well as college recommendations.
The second topic I would like to read about, Christian views on modern topics, would be intriguing because it would provide an opportunity for people to express their own interpretations of Scripture in light of today’s society. Overall it seems everyone is in agreement on the big issues such as whether or not Jesus is the Son of God and if the Bible is true, but we are rarely presented with differing opinions on Christian “gray areas” like the importance of adhering to established gender roles and if it is okay for Christians to curse. Although Bible class does have open discussions dedicated to such questions, it would still be nice to read a fully thought out and supported argument for or against certain issues.
The third topic I listed, media, would be dedicated to movies, television, comics, and literature. The section could be casual or analytical because it would have reviews and descriptions of upcoming releases. I would find this entertaining to read because it is always amusing to hear other people’s opinions on media. It could also be a way for me to learn about new books or movies that I had never heard of before and potentially explore new genres of entertainment.

Entry #5
Social media's purpose is to connect people from all over the world. It is a means for cultures to blend and for worlds to expand because by being a part of social media one has the potential to be exposed to hundreds of thousands of unique world views and customs. This inevitably forces people to consider perspectives and experiences that they may not have ever experienced otherwise. Social media, when used wisely, can also function as a bullhorn. While on one hand people can use it to learn more about those around them, they can also use it as a powerful mode of advertisement. These days something as simple as a hashtag or a one minute video can lead to a worldwide call to action. Examples of this are "#ALSIceBucketChallenge" and "#BlackLivesMatter", both of which resulted in massive media coverage and the acknowledgement of serious issues that had been largely ignored. In light of these and many other instances in which social media has facilitated social awareness for important causes, it seems fitting that people leant to respect it as an influential tool rather than simply the place where young people vent and post selfies. While much of what is found on social media platforms is trivial, there is still a sizable portion of it that is not. One should look beyond the meaningless posts about iced lattes and celebrity gossip to see the massive importance that organizations such as Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook have. Each of them serves as an easy way for common people to reach out to the world to both give and receive.

Entry #4
A class being taught right now that bores me is PE. It is hard to describe my gym class because I have only had a normal class twice; all of the other times occurred under unusual circumstances. Typically all we do is walk and/or run around the perimeter of the gymnasium. Sometimes we just sit and talk. We did play kickball and do exercises once but we have not done anything like that since.
It is because of this general lack of activity that PE bores me. Obviously I am not begging to be run into the ground with hard workouts and intense training, but some form of organized and varied activities would be nice. Right now, it feels like I am just wasting forty minutes of my time every morning which is unforgivable given how busy I am these days. Despite my dissatisfaction with the way the class is run, however, I do not take it to heart so much because the teacher also happens to be the principal and is in the midst of trying to save the school. I consider myself busy, but I cannot even imagine how busy he must be.  I am sure that planning activities for PE is the last thing on his mind so as long as he continues to do well as the principal I am totally willing to forgive any shortcomings I might find in minor areas such as gym class.

Entry #3
During a typical day I am always thinking about the next thing I have to do. When wake up, I think about what I am going to have for breakfast. When I get to school, I think about what I am going to have to do for first period, and once class starts, I think about it ending. I rarely ever put all of my attention into what I am doing at the moment unless it is extremely important or I am having a lot of fun. Because of this, I often miss bits of information in class about upcoming due dates and the like.
When I am not thinking about my next activity, however, my thoughts vary greatly depending on what is going on in my life. For example, now that I am preparing to go to college I spend much more time weighing the pros and cons of different states and locations than I did last year. I also spend more time considering different activities and hobbies to participate in so that I have more extracurricular activities to add to my college applications. When I do poorly on a test or quiz, I dwell on it longer than I used to because I know that it will hurt my GPA and possibly keep me from going to the school of my choice.
Besides school work and college, my thoughts are hard to explain because they are so vague. My days typically end with a series of inconsequential musings about YouTube videos and absentminded social media surfing. Usually I do my homework at this time and then go to bed thinking about waking up the next morning.

Blog #2
Welcome back, faithful readers. Today I would like to talk to you all about one of my favorite shows: Supernatural! It is, in my humble opinion, a fine display of artistic genius. Seriously, guys, it is amazing. It has everything a show should have: suspense, drama, action, and best of all – heartbreak! I know it sounds extremely sadistic to love heartbreak, but who wants to watch a show where everything is perfect all the time? A good show needs a few depressing scenes every now and then or else we, the viewers, will get bored.
The reason I have chosen this topic of discussion is because the first episode of season aired yesterday! I wish there was some kind of way for me to accurately convey my excitement over this fact but for now you will just have to take my word for it. I wish this could be a blog post about how incredible the season opener was but my school life has regrettably taken over my down time so I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet! At least now I have something to look forward to for Friday night so hopefully that happy thought will be enough to carry me through the rest of this week. Rest assured, my next post will undoubtedly be all about the majestic wonder that is Supernatural season 10.

Blog Entry 1
Hello, everyone, and welcome to my journalism class blog. I have been instructed to write about myself. The problem is that my life (much like yours, I am sure) is quite boring. You know that character in the movies that no one notices until one day she just snaps and does something crazy, prompting everyone to say stuff like “But she was always so quiet” and “I didn’t even know she went to this school” - you know that character? Well, that is basically me, except rather than snap and lose my mind, I am much more likely to quietly slink into my room and do my homework or something. Today the most interesting thing I did is wait in line to get some water. Yes, I am, in fact, that boring.
Despite my incredible lack of interesting material, however, I will still finish this post (not that I have a choice or anything). I guess I can tell you that I like to write (please do not use this post as a judgment of my skill or lack thereof). I also like to read and I am about to start a new book called Timebound that my friend recommended. I was actually supposed to have finished it a long time ago but then school started and ate my free time.  Well, that is pretty much all you need to know about me. Despite how it may seem, I am actually a super cool person to hang out with (at least, that is what my mom is always telling me). So I hope you imaginary readers will join me again later. I promise there will be snacks.
